We've decided to probably wait the 14ish days and see what happens. If nothing happens then we'll transfer the phone line account from my boyfriend's name to my name which effectively resets the line. After 7 days we'll, apparantly, be able to sign up with a new bband isp as a new customer (thus having to pay connection fees).

In the meantime we've signed up with BT yahoo anytime dial-up which is £1 for the first month after which we will cancel the account. This gives us a way to do the essentials at home though it's slow and limited to something like 150 hours of use per month. It also goes up to £15.99 after the first month.

One day on and I've caught up with most messages. Today in the post talktalk have asked for my mac code in readiness to connect me !. So WHAT DO I DO NOW ? I ask myself. I'm prepared to phone anyone at any cost to try and get this resolved. There is one area I'm "clutching at straws", that is, if the 14th July is the date when the lines will be cleared, will that then mean we will be able to use whichever isp we choose and they create a new mac code?.

Yep I am one of the many that also got caught out by purchasing the 2 year deal from them. To get notified on Saturday evening of there ceasing to operate and offing there over priced alternative.

I have signed up with talk talk who cannot connect me again until August to there broadband but wont need a mac code by then as tags removed in 10 days according to e7even notification.

In the meantime i signed up with tiscali 9am-6pm Monday-Sundays i think are the all inclusive times for £7.99 a month and anytime over those hours charged at just 1p a min this does have a no ties contract but 30 days written notice to cancel period.

Just thought it may help a few others that are playing the waiting game like me.

Can't help saying that I can't believe after being caught on one "cheap" scheme there are still people wanting to jump to another. With the adverse threads on here about Talk Talk and their catch penny scheme people are still taken in by it. Frying Pan and Fire come to mind here, I just hope the same people are not here again in 6 or 12 months bemoaning their situation. You get what you pay for in this world so why not pay up and get a decent ISP.

Whoops, looks like the mods moved your thread over here,

Hi Mick, i remember you saying that you lived close to e7.
It does appear that they have done a midnight flit as you say.

The choice has to be up to you, but i personally wouldn't be happy to hand over money to these internet hijackers! (it's also a little unclear exactly what is being offered).

Of course that means waiting 14 days before they get off your line, then you can move to someone more decent. (there doesn't seem to be a likelihood of MACs being issued)

You could use dialup in the meantime, i saw one mentioned on here at just a fiver a month with no 12 month contract (fast4 i think) I know someone using that at the mo and it seems to be Ok as a stop-gap until broadband can be sorted out.

I wouldn't like to make any recommendations for an ISP at the mo, but if you are going to wait the 14 days, then people will have some ideas, no doubt.

Of course with a cease and re-provide it means paying BT's connection fee again, but some ISPs do incorporate that into their charging for new accounts.

Whichever you choose, best of luck with it and to all the poor souls abandoned by e7even

ps i just saw Rex_Mundi's post which says it all, really . . . . . nice post, Rex

Thanks Guy Wise. I looked for fast4. I have the Dell Inspiron 1300. I'll need to check to see if it has a modem!

I do live near E7 yes. Maybe, I should call into the local trading standards office to see what they know....

And heres the lates press release from 186k.
"MARROCCO’S 186k STEPS IN TO RESCUE USERS AT E7EVEN UK LIMITED

In a last minute rescue bid, 186k the fast growing Business ISP has stepped forward to save 12,000 broadband users, following the demise of the services delivered by their troubled broadband provider, E7even UK Limited.

The rescue means that E7 customers will be provided with an alternative solution, with minimal disruption to their services. Once signed up with 186k, users will receive the additional 186k EBS (Enhanced BroadbandService) feature package* free of charge.

Commenting on the rescue, Dominic Marrocco, of 186k, said “We are providing an alternative channel for E7's valued customers, allowing them to continue with the least amount of disruption possible, whilst taking the opportunity to offer the additional benefits of an LLU connection with Anti Virus and Anti Spam protection.

"Users will also benefit greatly from 186k’s Enhanced Broadband Service and financial stability."

Nathan Francis, UK Managing Director of Tiscali Business Service, the wholesale network provider, says: "We are happy to help in offering the new 186K customers continuity."

    Hope its of some benifit!

I have to laugh, 186k are just another reseller with Tiscali Wholesale, just like the E7 lines that were stopped on Saturday.

So no doubt they can offer minimal disruption to the service, thats because you're not actually physically getting the connection changed. You're getting a new contract, billing details & log on details!!

IMHO id avoid EeezeDSL at all costs.
