    Hi Lellie,

There is a E7even users group at Yahoo! Groups at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/E7evenusers/ If you paid by credit card, don't bother to hang around for E7even, just claim it from your credit card company.

I'm beginning to doubt whether some smaller ISP companies really exist, but are nothing more than shelf companies created in lawyers' or accountants' offices which shop around for a bank loan with people then recruited for a technical "call centre" and a customer services "call centre" and the people whose names are set up as directors are there for the paperwork and don't bother coming to the office.

And if resources are then transferred elsewhere, the people there just don't care and there's nobody in charge. And this kind of thing can carry on because of the failure of the regulators who equally don't seem to care. Both organizations receiving money and giving no service in return.

I find the kind of sophistry which blames *the customer* for believing that regulatory bodies are paid by everybody to protect citizens from rackets not only peverse but downright dangerous. It seems to be viewing people as just part of an elaborate computer game, watching with amusement as they are depleted of money because they haven't "wised up" to the rackets and believed the expensive state spent advertising saying that, within reason, they were protected by the regulatory bodies for basic things like paying for a service and then having to receive that service. Not to be regarded as suckers who pay out for the employees of regulatory agencies and, expecting a service, to those who set up and man such companies.

There is more information in this thread than there is in the yahoo group so don't get your hopes up.

My service has been excellent for a few weeks now (apart from the senseless network upgrades 10 days ago and the lack of any replies to my emails). I know that LLU customers were all meant to transfer so who actually still has problems ? I know that islandman has had no service for a few weeks, but not many other postings about lack of service.
    To infinity and beyond!

After months on end of multiple problems, and the authorities reluctance to step in (until recently). I don't think you can blame people for being angry, not only with E7, but with OFCOM and OFTEL as well.

Both of these regulators have given the appearance that they have been more concerned with looking after E7 than this companies customers. If I was stuck in the middle of the mess that is E7, and no official body was willing to intervene for me, I would be livid!

the authorities wont step in until a certain amount of people complain about the service, same with any other investigation with any other regulatory authority.

if any e7 customers are fed up & just want a broadband service, they should do what my made did. Search google for ofcom & 'tags on the line' and there should be more information for them ;)

Just in case anyone remains interested. Following the email with my MAC, I spoke to talktalk and requested their broadband service/package. The phone line should become "live in 10/14 days" (that is the £9.95 package with free calls nat & internat) and the broadband sould be during June/July.

WHOOPS !, the MAC expires on the 25th of May. I told Talktalk, the supervisor intervened and said "we'll do our best". Usually we don't ask you to get the MAC code untill we're ready.

I'm now wondering if e7even will lead me a dance if I require a re-issue of a MAC code. Incidently, I've been without a connection for 46 days now.

    Islandman,

Could you not migrate to one of the monthly contract suppliers and then on to talktalk when they can def. facilitate it ???

hmm.. I shall try another letter. That got me my mac.. It should get me my refund.. otherwise it will be the credit card for us.

The problem is my family are also on e7 and I want to get them off - but they were both paid on debit card so can't use the credit card threat.. any ideas?

    Hi Normanmark,

There are plenty of e7even customers who have followed all the procedures and gone to both Trading Standards (https://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk and also trading.standards@kent.gov.uk for Kent trading standards where e7even is based) and OFCOM (https://www.ofcom.org.uk) after sending recorded delivery letters etc to E7even. There have been stories about E7even in the computer press. This isn't about being "fed up". This is about paying for a service and not getting it, the authorities not acting and their non action meaning that it costs people even more.

So please don't start lecturing us again that it's E7even's customers' fault. At first we didn't get a service from E7even because, according to you, E7even was too cheap and we were suckers to sign up and now the regulatory authorities haven't acted because, according to you, not enough E7even customers have complained.

Of course, it is up to people whether their situation means that they need to have the markers removed from the line and then pay for a connection fee which I have talked about on this thread without chiding individual customers.

And that doesn't mean that the companies and most of all the authorities which don't do their job shouldn't be bought to book.
All companies are overseen by the Department of Trade and Industry. the Office of Fair Trading (which stepped in over unfair credit card charges - by your reasoning the OFT has no responsibility and the individual customers just should have fought with their credit card companies) OFCOM (in the case of these sort of companies), ICSTIS for the calls (and ICSTIS does force firms to reimburse for inappropriate premium rate calls. By your reasoning again customers/citizens should be left to fight with the individual companies involved) etc. The authorities are not giving out charity. We are paying them.

As I have said to you before, I may buy an own brand product at a supermarket and it may be slightly lesser quality than a branded product but it is still fit for its purpose as stipulated by trading standards. If it were not fit for its purpose, then trading standards would have to step in.E7even does not now reach minimum levels, although before November last year it was a very good service.

I am not blaming British Telecom (you seem to have an emotional approach using words like "blame" and "anger" and not one which recognizes why OFCOM, DTI, OFT trading standards etc exist) but the whole set up by public servants which is negligent in leaving the migration code problem not covered. Something which was eminently forseeable.

The telecoms industry has been set up in a certain way by the regulators and they have to protect the consumer/citizen. That is what we pay them for. If they can't do it, then they shouldn't have jobs and we certainly shouldn't have to pay for them. It's not a one to one relationship with e7even. If it were OFCOM, the OFT/Trading Standards, the DTI, Icstis etc would not exist.

It's because of the competition that some firms are cheaper than others. That's what we are told. The airline industry has been opened up to competition and there are "no frills" airlines but nobody assumes, (as by your reasoning they should), that the airline does not have to reach minimum standards and that the planes will not reach their destination and passengers can be thrown out of the airline before landing.
