It's down because the administrators have shut it down, possibly for good. It has nothing to do with any sales.

Well I was in Woolies today and they had reduced lots of the Christmas cards to £1 and on 342 so 3 boxes of 40 cards for £2 (price on packs £4 each)
Not a plasma TV but still quite a good offer!0 -

Come on why would they sell anything for less than they paid? Take this site as an example if they said they would knock 10% off everything most of us would have a look especially at this time of the year, so why go drastic. Most shut downs start with 10% off then 20% etc just look at Focus they rubbish left gets the biggest knock down. Sorry to disappoint but never going to happen.
But they DID do a 20% discount offer last week, remember? Yes it was supposed to be a "friends and family" promo, but a lot of the stores were just handing the discount vouchers out at the door.
And given that many of the big High Street names are having sales of anything up to 30% off at present I wouldn't be at all surprised if Woolies tucked all their high value stock in the back shop and had a big sale of all the old stock, christmas tat and anything else that they didn't want to count for the auditors in January.Val.0 -

i went into my local store today and the staff were being truly wonderful...it was amazing how busy it was, and with it being so close to christmas and things looking bleak in the near-future but they were all as professional and friendly as possible...one of the members of staff said that they had been told by customers that they were closing in the next couple of days and while i was in the store, what looked like administrators were walking around and looking at what was left. it must be awful conditions to be working in and i will really miss woolies...even if dragon's den blokey takes over, it really is not the same thing and does not help the consumer as he already owns the rymans a couple of doors down...Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
