I was in the old Debenhams store in Brighton . The new one in the precinct had opened months ago and this one was kept open to sell end of lines, sales stock etc. There was no warning or advertising but some one announced that the store would be closing that day and everything in the store was now £1. Within 5 minutes the store was full of people emptying the aisles. Some people had one person shopping and one guarding their mountain of goods. I got 3 or 4 jackets, 6 lovely velvet scarves (teachers did very well that year) and a couple of other bits. I know I had about 20 items all for £20 and would you believe people then started complaining about the queues!Look after the pennies and the £££s will look after themselves0

i have to say woolworths in forestgate london closed down and on the last 7 days they reduced all there stock excluding computers and larger items.
I bought big boxex of sweets 10p all christmas stock was 25p and everything else was between 25p and a £1 so i guess this could be happening in all the stores thats closing down.
But i do have to say what a horrible atmosphere it was everyone was fighting for things off the shelf and there were stampedes soooo i dunno.OCTOBER/NOVEMBER WINS- HOLIDAY TO DUBAI/IPAD 2/KINDLE AND LOTS OF OTHER OTHER LITTLE BITS I LOVE COMPING!!!0 -

The administraters who control control Woolworths would be breaching their obligations if they just gave everything away.
Woolies owes about £400m to debtors and the administrators job is to find a way of paying those debts off whilst finding a suitable exit strategy fro the company/share holders.
Selling stock @ £1 wouldn't clear the debts and would leave the business more or less destroyed. Indeed, it is the stock Woolies currently has that is the bargaining chip between seller and buyer of the business.
Sounds like Toys R Us staff are having a laugh...but perhaps they could one day consider cutting their own extortionate rip off prices before it is too late for them and their appalling customer service needs a boost too (bag searches, one till operator at peak times, having to queue to collect your goods after queuing to buy them, etc).
I refuse to shop there on principal, anyone who wants to relieve me of my shopping for safe keeping had better be keeping it safe, hardly the case when they have a huge sign disclaiming responsibility yet insist on you leaving your gear behind, customer service is not something that is available with Toysrexpensive either.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

Yes, but it's not everything, just things that were going to be reduced to £1 as part of the Xmas clear out anyway. We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0
