I don't think its really gonna happen :rolleyes:0 -
The administraters who control control Woolworths would be breaching their obligations if they just gave everything away.
Woolies owes about £400m to debtors and the administrators job is to find a way of paying those debts off whilst finding a suitable exit strategy fro the company/share holders.
Selling stock @ £1 wouldn't clear the debts and would leave the business more or less destroyed. Indeed, it is the stock Woolies currently has that is the bargaining chip between seller and buyer of the business.
Sounds like Toys R Us staff are having a laugh...but perhaps they could one day consider cutting their own extortionate rip off prices before it is too late for them and their appalling customer service needs a boost too (bag searches, one till operator at peak times, having to queue to collect your goods after queuing to buy them, etc).Anger ruins joy, it steals the goodness of my mind. Forces me to say terrible things. Overcoming anger brings peace of mind, a mind without regret. If I overcome anger, I will be delightful and loved by everyone.0 -
I have never heard of any store taking such drastic measures when closing down, it's far more likely that excess stock would be sold off to other companies.
Woolworth's isn't quite as close to closure as we were led to believe, there are a lot of interested buyers circling the store, so even if this happened, it wouldn't be for weeks....even months. We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -
They could sort out their debt if they managed to sell all the penny sweets for a quid each though... great plan! The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster!

I commented to my OH that I am amazed there aren't reports of Toysrus being in trouble, their stuff is so outrageously overpriced that I can't believe people still shop in there, I completely agree with you about the bag searches and no staff on the tills too, I hate the place. :rolleyes:0
