Drop half a stone for Christmas!

Aw heck, I just saw some photos of myself. Can I join in? Do you think it's still possible to lose half a stone for Christmas? That's just over 2lb per week!!
I'm 5.2 and probably just over 12stone at the minute (have been putting off the dreaded weigh in). I've been heavier (up on 13 stone) and lighter (10.5 stone) and lighter is much much nicer. I'm 40 in 2010 and really really want to be slim.
I've been using weightlossresources for years but hardly ever log in these days. It has been really busy at work and I've also got a cold and have been using these as excuses not to exercise properly - when I'm 'at myself' I go to the gym at least 4 times a week but have slacked off this past fortnight. I also need to start walking again - it's good for me in lots of ways.
I am officially back on the wagon if you'll have me0 -

Don't see why not
I seem to have been dieting for ever ;( i think changing your modes of support, and reenthusising about the whole thing is helpful...as long as its part of the same journey, not yo-yoing.0 -
Well to be fair I have been sort of staying on the road albeit not exactly on the wagon
Until two weeks ago I was keeping up with the gym about 3 times a week which was ok since Oct-Dec is our crazy time at work, and had been finding reasons to walk more.
I also made a decision over the summer to eat only healthy (ie good for me) food and I have pretty much stuck with that. I gave up chocolate and cheese except as part of a meal (I'm veggie and was inclined to snack on cheese). I also stopped buying butter and have been eating a lot more seeds/nuts and pulses etc. So eating healthily by and large just too muchand have been overindulging with the wine - I don't ever drink a lot but if you have a glass nearly every night the calories add up! So I have decided until my work Xmas do on the 23rd I am off alcohol. God knows it is not good for me in any way, just empty calories!
All of this means I haven't really gained much weight over the busy period (maybe a lb or so) but I really need to lose some and I haven't done that either. I'd been thinking new year resolutions but it would be great to get a jump on it!
Just read through all of your info, sounds like you're all doing really well, let's hope I can follow the good examples.0 -
FWIW I give up alcohol every year between New year and the end of march. I'm not a heavy drinker, (even less now, I would in the past, bar my rest, have a small glass of wine most evenings, now two evenings a week and possibly a lunh at the weekend) but we do socialise a lot in the festive season-and summer, it seems those three months are easier to let the liver have a good break.0

I didn't have breakfast this morning (sorry!), but I was going to be walking around a supermarket and I know that if I eat before I walk that distance I will be physically sick
I took Dr Dragon to the local pub for lunch and was very good! I had a jacket potato with home made coleslaw and a side salad and I didn't have any wine I stuck on soda water (with just a drip or two of cordial in it - blackcurrant that turned it faintly pink!), I tried the scales again this morning and I thought for a second it was going to drop to the half pound off bit .... but noooooo it stayed at 4.5 pounds off this week so far
With having had the soda water though I am two pints down of my four pints to drink!Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

Thanks Lost - but seeing as I am trying to shift the 27 pounds that went on when I needed to take some steroids I am really hoping to shift more!Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

End goal is long way for lots of us, (my wight mor than doubled when I got ill!, I've lost some but there's mor to go than I've lost) but I'm thinking of what you lost THIS WEEK. I have to go on and off steroids a lot too. Its very dispiriting isn't it?0 -
Wow 4.5lbs, I'd be pleased to lose than in a month, well done!!
I have managed to steer clear of the wine tonight (day 1 yay!) and have eaten reasonably sensibly - three bean chilli with a wrap and a tbsp of guacamole. Was very tasty too. Just had some porridge for supper. Still feeling a bit chesty and congested but hoping to make the gym tomorrow even if I only do some weights.
If I could be somewhere near my goal weight by end of summer I'd be delighted! Goal is prob around 10st!
PS gonna weigh myself in the morning!0
