    Morning fellow half stoners!

I've had my breakfast, yippee, btter start to the day today. And also, in spirit of sticking to good routie I have to be somewhere else at lunch time, so I'm taking lunch with me. :) And I think I might take a flask of herbal tea too. :)

AND I give a huge thumbs up to the water filter. I am really sensitive to taste, (weirdly I can tell which type of bottled water I'm drinking by the taste) and our tap water is less than inspiring, but the filter water was just fine. I'm more impressed than I thought I would be.

    Have a good day!

Well done on having breakfast AND on planning lunch! I have also had breakfast and I am working through my second cup of proper tea (after this one I will have my first pint of water to get my 2 litres down me!)

    Good afternoon, fellow half-stoners!

    Breakfast? Check!
    Extra drinks? Check!

Lunch? Not yet, as I was a bit late with breakfast, but I have two ryvitas with dairylea and an apple waiting for me (194 cals). Good for me, because if I eat brekkie, I normally skip lunch :o

My grand-daughter is coming over tonight, to stay from a long weekend, going back Monday. That will make it harder because she is ALWAYS hungry!! I'll have to stock up on crisps, snack bars, extra fruit and other stuff that she can munch on in between meals ... and send anything uneaten back with her....

Well done! I am two pints of water drunk - 2 to go!

My low calorie soup smelt .... odd, possibly off (Chicken soup made on Tuesday from stock made on Sunday, if in doubt chuck it out came into play!), so I will be having another roll and some fish fingers!

Oops yep send everything back again! Have a great time with her though (I am guessing parents have a do or are working or something)

Hi everyone, I have just signed up. I would love to lose 12 lbs but 6lbs by the 24th would mean I could do up my party trousers!

They have put my target calories as 1700 which I think is much too high for my sedentary lifestyle. Thing is my BMI is ok but all my weight is around my middle. I will check some of the things I entered to see if I made a mistake.

Hi Lolly, how much weight do you want to lose overall (if you don't mind me asking!), Calorie Count put mine at 2,450 I am seriously sedentary (can't walk without crutches and even then only about 100 yards or so before stopping!), the thing is I have 10 stone to lose and the more you have to lose the more calories they give you - and then as you lose weight they gradually diminish it - it is a way of sloooowly retraining yourself to the right amount of food.

Oh and welcome aboard :o - sorry should really have said that first!

Actually, she is the second of six  so I have each of them on their own every so often to give them some quality one-to-one time. This weekend is her turn ;)

Lolly, welcome! Re the calorie allowance, what I would say is - give it a go just till Christmas and see what happens.

I have found that the main thing, for me, is to religiously record ALL food intake, and ALL activity, and to maintain at least a 500 cal difference between the two, but not to drop below the recommended baseline calorie intake.

It isn't helpful to compare individual's recommended calorie target, because each individual is different, so what is too much for one person is not enough for another.... I only have about 1.5 stone to lose, so my calorie allowance is not as much as Dragon's, and is also lower than yours - but I am postmenopausal and short, which also affects my calorie allowance.

But I CAN tell you that I also have a VERY sedentary lifestyle, owing to health problems - and this is working for me - I am losing weight :D:D:D

PS.... remember to DRINK, folks !!!

Three pints of water down - two more mugs of tea and then I have my final one and I will be all done on water for the day! On top of that I am over 1,000 calories for the day again! Having breakfast is good for me! No more weight seems to be coming off though

Hi Lolly, how much weight do you want to lose overall (if you don't mind me asking!),

I only have a stone and a half to lose now but I have plateaued (if thats a word). If I lose 6lbs I can get into last winter's trousers, if I lose a stone I can get into last year's dresses and losing the last half stone would just make me very happy!

I checked what I had put in and I was down for weight maintenance not weight loss, so now my calories have been reduced to 1340 per day which sounds ok.

I am sedentary through laziness - I don't have any real medical problems except an arthritic hip and I do try to go to a water aerobics class. My main problem is that I crave salty things like crisps, olives etc and I nibble all day long which is not good for my high blood pressure. In fact I would prefer to have just one meal a day and then just graze on fruit and crisps for the rest of the time.

I am going to be sensible though and have 3 meals a day, its just the evenings when I watch TV that are the problem. I weigh myself every day and had withdrawal symptons when my scales broke. Sad or what? I will enjoy the discipline of entering all my food and in fact I ate less this evening because I knew I had to enter it.

Thanks The Dragon and LazyDaisyfor your welcome

Give it a chance, its only a couple of days.

Welcome Lolly.....do you think doing somthing with your hands would help hile watching tv? Knitting, ironing, even doodling? Maybe try brushing your teeth before sitting down too? Everything tastes ghastly after that so might be a good incentive. :)

OK, got breakfast in, I had (bought) apple puree with blueberries. :D

Hi Lolly, yes nibbling through the evening is my downfall - but having to log everything does curb the appetite! What I do, now, is calculate my calories so that I have a hundred or so left over, which gives me a bag of mini ryvitas, or some carrot battons, or something like that, to munch in the evening. Even cutting an apple up into slices helps, because I can eat an apple in a few bites and its gone, whereas cutting it up first makes it last longer and I enjoy it more.

Lostinrates - well done for eating breakfast! That's a great start to the day!

Dragon - you are doing so well keeping above 1000 calories - keep up the good work and you'll soon be at your target allowance!

Fay, you okay? how are you doing?
