  • :p Morning all,
Just had my first official weigh in since starting this challenge and pleased to report a loss of 3lbs! :j

I'm surprised since my exercise hasn't been great but my eating must be getting better!

So today I'm going to have:

Breakfast - Fruit and Fibre cereal
Lunch - Fake "ham" and cheese sandwich on WM bread (I'm going through too much bread, will have to be brave and try bake my own :p )
Dinner - Vegetable chilli and brown rice
Snacks - A banana or two or an orange, the last piece of chocolate left in my Roses tin :p

'Grats retiredlady on doing well on your plan! And hugs to anyone else who needs them right now.
    See you all later :D

  • Good morning
    RS (((Hugs)))

Have noticed that I have not been having my 5 a day so this mornings bfast was fruit salad (frozen luxury one from Mr T) with added grapefruit segments. Will take apple and pear to work. Didn't have the salad last night as there was far more shep pie left than I thought so we had jackets with the left over lentil mixture and baked beans for the 3, I hate backed beans so had toms with olives and artichoke hearts.
Tonight will be empty the fridge night, so salad will be used.

    Hi all,

Still here but lurking as I seem to be eating everything I ought not :o

Hugs to RS - it's not your fault - it's not like you did it on purpose, or that you haven't tried to shift the weight. There's nothing to say that every overweight person will get cancer is there? Don't blame yourself. Hope all goes well for you on Tuesday and that your worst fears never come true - hugs x

Well done wyrdsister for your loss and taplady for STS.

Money is really tight at the mo due to car costs and think that's why I'm worrying and thus eating - chocolate, cereal bars, all the low fat cake that was meant to last me a week... :o

But it's nothing compared to what some are worrying about - thinking of you RS.

    Hi all,

Still lurking, been crazy busy so only just had time to read and run. been sticking to plan for the most part but yesterday was a planned disaster as it was my birthday :)

So yesterday went something like this:
    B: Chocolate traybake
    11am: Vanilla traybake
L: Giant french fancy birthday cake
D: Breaded garlic mushrooms, linguine with tomato, black olives and courgette, garlic bread then mint ice cream and lots of red wine.

I feel plop today but hey ho its a once a year thing so I can live with that ;)

Today is far more sensible and I will be busy again so no time for snacking.

B: 2 wholemeal toast with low fat cream cheese

    L: Lentil soup

D: Not 100% sure but OH is making it so it will be something healthy and tasty.

Back on the wagon again. I had a STS last week when I weighed, wouldn't mind losing a few more pounds to add to the 2 stone that has gone since May last year but I am happy with a maintain at the moment.

    have a good day all
  • Just about recovered from my recent escapade of a fall so most of the stiffness and soreness has gone. Another cold , grey day here at least most of the snow as melted now just a few patches here and there remain. There is more around the back of the bungalow there as it is the part of the garden that gets the least sun throughout the day.

I have a soup merrily shimmering away I have packed it full of vegetables and lentils. It is sure starting to smell nice. When it is cooked I will blend this soup to a smooth consistency which will be very shortly. Soups are an excellent way of packing in lots of vegetables but also a great opportunity to use any vegetables that need using up so not to waste them so saving money.

Today is a nice restful day today as tomorrow will be busier as I go to my parents every other Friday. I will also go into there home town and get some flaxseed which is one of the cheapest around. Plus the big bonus they do a flaxseed with gojo berries or there is another variety as well with pumpkin seeds. I have never tried the later variety but I do keep threatening. I have flaxseed every morning with my cereal as it helps with the horrid side effects of my tablets and keeps me regular so to speak.

recovering spendaholic Sorry to hear about your worries at the minute. It is only natural that you will have these fears. The INTERNET is a wonderful invention though it does have its downfalls like everything in life. Knowledge can be a dangerous thing as you let your mind go rampant with every disease ailment and possible negative there is about your procedure. I know this from having a medical background myself. Though my own expertise is in psychiatry you pick up physical health along the way and you have a good grounding in that area. Trust me I have had myself in knots over the most simplest procedure I think the absolute worse. I pity my poor husband it is a wonder he is not as bald as a coot from pulling his hair out :D

If at all possible get to talk to your doctor he or she may help elevate your fears. Maybe if that is not possible talk to the practice nurse at you doctors again they just might put your worries in perspective you may have the wrong end of the stick. If you can't get to see your doctor or nurse these are strategies that might just help.
    1. Relaxation Techiques
    2. Doing some form of exercise ( release a chemical in the brain that makes you feel good)
    3. Try to keep busy that it is so you distract yourself from mulling over these thoughts.

I hope these help in a small way until the procedure is completed. :grouphug:

    Today’s menu will be
    BREAKFAST cereal with flaxseed
DINNER Vegetable soup (homemade) with bread
TEA Chicken sandwich and banana/sultana and walnut muffin
SNACKS Fruit/ yoghurt and nuts (almonds)

Well that is all the news I have for today so bye for now and take care all.

(((Hugs))) to everyone feeling down today, especially rs, your brain does go into overdrive and always thinks the worst.

The ideas posted about coping with panic and pain are sound ones....we all need them at times!

Well done on all you losers..you are an inspiration to the rest of us.:j

Thanks for your good wishes, the hospital did ring back with a new date for my scan, only three days after the original, so it's now on: March 5th. Then I rang to make the follow-up appointment...April 3rd...that's 7 weeks away!!!! I was in quite a state after that news, worrying how I could cope with the pain for such a long time. I could feel myself starting to get hysterical, when I began to hyperventilate. So I made myself calm down by trying to breath deeply and slowly, it took a while, but I did it. I was so washed out for the rest of the day though.

Anyway, after a reasonable night's sleep, I rang the doctors and made an appointment for this afternoon. I want to change my medication as I am taking 20 to 23 tablets a day at the moment and I am still in a lot of pain. I am also quite dopey and so can't drive anywhere. Perhaps I can get something that works!

I was really down yesterday, but I want to try and be more positive, it will be hard, but I am going to try.

So to the food for today:
B: Porridge with raisins, water & soya milk; OJ
    S: SF jelly with banana
D: HM veg soup - yummy!
S: HM hobnobs if I can make any today
    T: Chicken, probably
    S: Toast?
Have a day thinking good thoughts...it might make the day seem brighter.

    Take care

    M

  • Happy Belated Birthday Floyd! Well done Tapladay on the STS and Wyrdsister on the 3lb loss!

Keiss - glad you have got the scan sorted out - I hope they will be able to sort it out from there.

Newlywed - I know what you mean about money worries making you eat - if I am skint I always seem to eat lots of rubbish - don't know why...

Thank you all for your kinds words. I went to the GP this morning who managed to put my mind at rest a little bit and I decided that I would try and eat better, as I really do think that when I eat nothing but rubbish my mood is even worse.

So this morning I went to Mr T's and got some healthy food choices and today I have had:

Breakfast - just had a milky coffee
Snack - small bag of baked crisps
Lunch - cup of tomato soup and scrambled salsa eggs with two small dry toasts. The scrambled egg was just delicious! I just chopped up very small some red onion, red pepper, tomatoes and a green chilli and mixed them together with a little salt and pepper. Then I "fried" this in a non stick pan for a few mins and added beaten eggs and scrambled them. It was really delcicous!

Don't know what to make for tea yet because I have got some leftover boiled cabbage and mashed potato in the fridge and I am thinking of trying to make a sort of corned beef hash thing with it or if not I might just make bubble and squeak type thing and have it with the leftover chicken I have in the fridge and some gravy. I do fancy the corned beef though......
