    me again!

welcome to purpleorc - you have done amazingly with your weight loss so far:T good idea to take your own food - we always do, at least you know what you're eating plus as you said its so expensive on the motorways.

ethansmum - hope you dont mind me commenting on your post, 1000 calories a day seems quite low to me especially when you are exercising. Sometimes you need to eat more to lose weight if that makes sense. Your body may be going into starvation mode if its not getting enough calories to support it through the exercise and hanging on to the ones it does have hence no weigh loss. Obviously the extra food needs to be nutritious and healthy. Keep going and try not to lose your motivation.

Sorry that you are having a bad time at the moment ethansmum!:grouphug: Please don't take this thre wrong way, but have you considered that perhaps you are not eating enough? If the body is not receiving the proper amount of nutrients and calories it needs it will go into "starvation mode" and will hang on to everything it gets. After a while on 1000 cals if you go up to even 1400 you will gain weight because your body has adjusted to such a low intake.
Don't mean to sound like an interfering Aunt but just felt I should say what I feel:o. I am of course speaking from someone who has a large appetite and could not even envision life on 1000 cals a day:rotfl::rotfl:

    Hello and Good Morning

I hope you don't mind me joining this thread on weight loss. I began to "diet" some 22 months ago not following any particular weight loss programme but eating healthy with portion control. To date I have lost 9 stone but a couple of weeks ago I purchased new bathroom scales and they make me 4lb heavier than my old scales typical never lighter are you ? :rotfl:

I have approximately another stone to lose to have an healthy BMI for the first time in my adult life. I hoping this thread will help keep me on the straight and narrow plus give me the final push to get to my goal weight. I do try to do a little exercise every day providing my body will permit or I have enough energy. This is because I was diagnosed with MS in 1999.

Very shortly I am going to London with my husband on a delivery ( he helps his brother out occasionally) and I have prepared food to take with us. For two reasons I take our own food the cost of service station food  and the lack of healthy food.

Thanks for listening to me rabbit on but I do tend to waffle :o

Welcome to the group purpleorg :hello:, nice to meet you. Fantastic weight loss, especially considering you have done it on your own! Lots of us post our daily eating plans on here, I find posting mine keeps me on the straight and narrow:D!

Don't worry about that - I love a bit of waffle - especially with maple syrup and butter :D

  • Hello to all. :)

My biggest problem with the weight loss is motivation - or lack of it!

The thing that really gets me is the evening munchies. I'm sure you all know the ones I'm talking about. When you're sat in front of the tv with nothing better to do, no distractions to keep your mind occupied. Those are the nights where I just want to eat any junk I can get my hands on! Now, I do manage to resist most of the time but cave more times than I would like to!

I was wondering if anyone would like to share their tips for staying motivated so that I (and hopefully others!) can try to learn from them!

Welcome to all the newbies :)

I would definately echo that 1000 cals is not very much, I am 5ft 9 and 11st 12 (was 14 when I started here) and according to most charts/calculators I need about 1400-1500 a day to lose a pound a week. I also do little/no exercise ;) I hate it! The larger your starting weight the more cals you should start with so you have more leeway for reduction later on if things plateau.

I will dig out the bara brith recipe later when I get home :)

Thank you all for your honest replies.

*Whispers* I'm 5ft 8 and 14st 10 TBH I couldn't see how i wouldn't lose weight because I couldn't eat much less. So I'm thinking there must be some truth to what you are saying. I'm just strggling between eating too much or too little it seems.

I'll try to increase it then. :)

Good luck ethansmum and don't panic the first week or so because you probably will have a bit of a gain while your body adjusts to the fact it is getting food!

Now the person who can come up with a solution for the evening munchies will be a millionaire! My vote is for sucking on a sugar free boiled sweetie and taking up knitting. Keeps you hands and mouth both busy!;)
