  • Hi all. Dont have time to read through the weekends posts right now so will do that when I get back later today.

Had a good weekend over all. No silliness that I can remember, lots of activity building kitchen cupboards for my mother. Even passed up a bowl of chips hehe.

    Today
Just coffee this morning (on the radio at 10)
    Veg rice & tuna
    Fruit
    Bolognase (?) & chips (leftover)

Oh yeah, the scales report 5lb off this last week.

Morning all, the start of another dreary dark week that makes me want to eat puddings :(

My stomach feels horrid today as we had large portions yesterday at dinner then a pud later on. All home cooked but all quite heavy so as a consequence neither of us slept very well so I am destroyed today.

B: 2 wholemeal toast with cheese spread

    L: Lentil soup

D: Chicken chasseur with lots of veggies

I need to go and buy some fruit as I have a bad feeling that some of my work collegues may have been baking over the weekend.
  • Hi
Lost one of the 2 pounds put on last week, not a happy bunny this morn. Why do I put on 2lb at a time or more but only lose 1lb or sts for weeks?

Up to end of Sat I had achieved my walking target of 5K steps a day in fact had averaged almost 7K per day, then on Sunday I went out and was walking for over 4 hours but the pedometer recorded a big fat O. It now won't work. Will have to go out and buy another one.

Pineapple for bfast other meals undecided, depends what time I'm around. Yoga tonight.

Well done ispartacus on losing 5lb that's amazing. ShelBell how do you do your low fat cauliflower cheese?

Hi all, Well done to all the losers :)

I forgot to weigh today so will do it tomorrow.

Anyone seen our little green friend recently?????

Have to confess to having an iced finger bun at the weekend - had to buy 3 new tyres  so needed to console myself :o

    Anyway food today:
b: oats with honey (rather than syrup - it is at least more natural isn't it? - found squeezey non-clear honey) and nana
l: HM leek and tatty soup - yum
d: smoked kippers and roasted veg :)

Hopefully today will go ok - discovered that the blackbean sauce I used for stir fry last night contained sesame oil - found out AFTER I'd eaten it  Other brands don't have it so didn't think to check . Hopefully won't end up poorly again today - wait and see is all I can do really :o

    Yo peeps :hello:
Another day in sunny wales and two dogs walked, one to go, and two loads of washing out on the line. Heavens I feel so much better when the sun shines, far more positive.

Huge congratulations to ShelBell and Ispartacus, well done :T . Also to procrastinator and spugzbunny, well done you :T , you’re lost a book each (by my new method of weighing out the amount to lose in books). No matter how small, it's a step in the right direction.

Breakie as usual, can’t be bothered thinking so early in the morning Marion. I sometimes wish I was on sawdust ball like the dogs. Just measure out the correct amount to maintain optimum weight and that’s it. Hope you got the laptop, by the way. Can’t wait for mine to arrive on Thursday.
    Lunch is soup and yogurt
    Snack – raisins and date
Tonights tea is going to be a bit of an odds and end affair. I’ve got 2 boiled eggs, half a tin of spaghetti, a small dry piece of cheese, assorted salad ingredient in need of using up and a DH at last keen to lose weight but hates all things salady. Shopping tomorrow so I want these things used before any more is added to the fridge. I’ll be happy with salad and home grown potatoes with an egg and the cheese grated, DH will have baked beans instead of salad and an egg and vegi burger and DS4 can use up the spaghetti with what ever I can find lurking in the freezer. Sorted.:D

Off to walk pupkin then lunch. Take care all - Suz

Low fat brocolli & cauliflower cheese

Boil 1 head of brocolli and 1 head of cauli (floretted) until desired bite is acheived.
Meanwhile, pop 3/4 pint of skimmed milk in a saucepan with 1 tbsp of plain flour, 1 tsp of wholegrain mustard, and a small block (150 - 200g) of low fat cheese (as mature as possible). Bring to the boil stirring constantly, then mix with the veg.

The mustard as I'm sure you know brings out the flavour of the cheese, so you can use less. I tend to start with about 100g and taste and add more if necessary.

This method for making sauces (flour and cold milk) works fantastically, and cuts fat as you don't use butter to make a roux first. I use it to make parsley/tarragon/dill sauce for fish pie etc too.

Anyone wanting to concentrate on protein, broc and cauli are rich in vegetable protein, and of course the sauce is high in dairy protein. Great stuff.
    Weight loss to date - 8st 13lbs :j
  • Shelbell I always make white sauce this way now - never use butter any more - you just don't need it and it's so much easier than messing about with a roux anyway.

Well, this week taking off coffee and milk and ready bought fruit I have £12.05 for the rest of the week. It is going to be hard as I have the in-laws arriving on Wednesday and it is really difficult thinking up low cal meals ('grandma' is overweight too and 'grandad' is on cholesterol tabs) given all our little foibles food wise. No fish, no pasta, minimal pulses, no spinach or fried onions. No stew. No beef. two not keen on pork. Sigh. Ideas welcome. Oh, and I work til six most nights so not a huge time for cooking! Usually I do big salads with lots of options and let people just help themselves but I don't want to buy salad now as it is out of season and so not "moneysaving".

1lb off by the way which is not bad for week 3 methinks. I'm happy anyway.

Here is what I am/have eaten for today:

    Breakfast - fruit and yogurt (eaten at class after weigh in - every little helps:D;)}

Lunch - ham and onion omelette, 1 tblsp EV olive oil as heb

Dinner - rice bake with leftover ham, vegetables, fruit and yogurt for later in the evening.

Sort of a busy day so it is a quick and easy day to go with the extra easy plan!

    Love
    Marion
