Went to Kew yesterday and did the tree tops walk, sooo many steps up, then climbed the steps to the higher bit in the evolution house, my thighs certainly noticed. Overall did more than 15K steps so very pleased. Food wise I put a soup in the slow cooker - green split peas and veg so it was ready as soon as we came home. Later I made spanish omlette with salad.
Today, not sure what to do as is pouring with rain but I want to walk. No indoor shopping near enough or I would do that. Bfast cereal, lunch and dinner undecided as depends on where the teens will be (of course the're not up yet) have more salad in so probably has that for lunch, might put some lentil soup in the SC.WL 11 st 5lb as at 050109. 160209 11st 2lb

Morning all!
my little tip to avoid coming home starving and over eating is that I eat small amounts regularly - say every 3 to 4 hours. Not necessarily meals but snacks such as bananas, low fat cereal bars(alpen light and ryvita goodness bars). I also split my breakfast into two as I'm always starving in the morning. I usually have 1 small slice of toast at about 6 to 7 ish then at 9 ish I have the other slice with poached egg or spaghetti or both on:D !. I find this keeps me going well till lunchtime but if I'm peckish I have a banana. HM soup is also brilliant - just have a mug full if you're peckish. For me I dont do hunger very well so I prefer to keep myself topped up.It stops me craving biscuits etc as my blood sugar is always ok. I am at my target now and I think people would be suprised by the amount I eat!:D I just prefer to do it in smaller amounts as my body doesn't like big meals( it plays havoc with my IBS)anyway I hope you can understand what I've been waffling on about;)
B - 1 slice wholemeal toast(small loaf 400g) marmalade at 7am
1 weetabix with banana, raisins and seeds with skimmed milk 9.30am
L - jacket spud, salad and spaghetti
S - yoghurt or fruit
D - salmon fillet, roasted vegetables and tomato couscous
S - fruit or yoghurt
I hope you all have a great day x
forgot to mention I always carry something low cal in my bag or car in case of emergencies!Do what you love :happyhear0 -
Good Moaning,
Well I weighed out the excess 12lbs I’ve put on and now have a pile of books in a carrier bag. Oddly enough it worked out to be twelve of them in all ranging from Paul O’Grady and Jeremy Clarkson to Patricia Cornwell and Erica James. Boy are they far heavier than I thought. That means that so far I’ve lost a bookcase :rotfl: , yay :T , and certainly don’t want to put it all back on again. Even DH was surprised at how much 12lbs is, so can thoroughly recommend this visual idea. I’m going to reduce the pile as I lose the weight just to keep me focused.
Foodwise today it was the usual oatabix and fruit for breakie, then I’m going to make some lentil & carrot soup for lunch with wholegrain yogurt for pud. Tea will be jacket potato, baked beans and breaded haddock. Snack – raisins and date.
After a good deal of rain in the night it’s now brightened up so DH has gone off with pupkin to the park. I took the other two round our local hill in the woods and up to the top yesterday so I might take them to the beach today. I try and vary our walks so we don’t get bored. Only trouble is there are no squirrels on the beach and ‘great protector’ loves barking at them up their trees, potty dog.
Have a guilt free day folks - Suz"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life, gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are." Unknown0 -
Good Morning Everyone, just a flying visit as am about to take Charlie out and then DD2 to the station and then hopefully Aldi to buy a new laptop. Finally decided to get one, but not sure if they will have any left once I get there.
Breakfast - bacon and eggs and hash browns (forgot to put the hashbrowns back in the freezer yesterday so they had to be cooked:o, I don't normally have the same breakfast twice in a row)
Lunch/Dinner - Roast chicken, mashed potatoes, brocolli and sweetheart cabbage with carrots.
Supper - Left over chicken in a wm roll with salad and a yogurt.
Thats all folks

Bless me OS-ers for I have sinned
Well I neglected to mention that the place we were going to for dinner last night was an Italian household so dieting and skipping courses is forbidden and all thoughts of having a relatively virtuous night went out the window in a few seconds
Started with melon and parma ham :A
Next was the huge plate of antipasto including mortadella, breasolla, mozarella and pecorino, pate, olives, walnut bread, peperone (slow cooked peppers) and grissini:eek:
Then the main event of an immense beef lasagne with salad
Then dessert of fruits in a brandy snap basket with ice cream
Then coffee and sambuca
Then a cheese platter
Surprisingly I don't actually feel that horrendous as there was lots of time between each course where we just chatted and grazed and drank red wine.
Lovely evening but I couldn't do it often :rotfl:
B: Toast and eggs, not sure what style yet as OH is still asleep
L: Probably nothing as it will be late by the time we eat breakfastChicken pie with veggies
No snacks to make up for yesterday :A
Well done to all the losers and triers0 -
Quick round up to my challenge week. Not been able to stick to the BHF diet portions the last couple of days for a variety of reasons including a stressful week at work and OH in charge of some meals and sending for takeaway! Mainly this meant not hitting my fruit and veg target of 7 on some days but had budgeted for 3 lots of fruit a day anyway. Still came in under budget, I'm pleased to say (assuming I stick to today's meal plan). It's cottage pie tonight and I'm surprised it only costs 60p per portion - and they are big portions. Enough room though to add a glass of celebratory wine!
Remainder in bugdet for this week = £1.20.
I'm going to stick to £17.50 again this week as last was unusual and I did dig some stuff out of the freezer that I've been thinking I must eat up for some time - they don't actually make them any more!
Meat is still the biggest budget item. I noticed though this week that lentils are going up rapidly: is this effect of the falling pound or has there been a problem with harvests?
Finally (honest) the issue of planning meals comes up on this thread time and again. It is something that tends to defeat me, too, and I think part of the problem is that when I was little there was always the same meal plan for the week - cold cuts Monday, fish Tuesday,?Wednesday, sausages Thursday, cheaper meat cut (e.g. stuffed neck of lamb) Friday, off to my aunty's Saturday, roast Sunday. This doesn't seem to happen any more. Maybe it should! Perhaps we just don't have the energy to be constantly thinking stuff up in the kitchen as well as work etc.Popsy0 -
Haven't had a great week as on wednesday, thursday and friday nights alcohol was consumed, and pizza, and chips n dip etc. I think alcohol really has to be banned now - the healthy eating just disappears!
However during the day I have still kept to reasonable eating habits and not succumbed to eating tons of carbs and cake to mop up the hangover, so weighed myself yesterday and have STS and not gained at least. For next week I want a significant loss.
Today's plan:
breakfast: small bowl of muesli, small piece of cheddar (1)
lunch: quorn escalope with layered veg and mashed root veg (2)
dinner: hm roast veg pizza (1)
snacks: banana (1) low-cal chocolate drink2015 wins: Jan: Leeds Castle tickets; Feb: Kindle Fire, Years supply Ricola March: £50 Sports Direct voucher April: DSLR camera June: £500 Bingo July: £50 co-op voucher0 -
Hello everyone - hope you are having a lovely weekend!
Popsy - I am in awe of you managing on £17.50 for the week - I am a total mess with shopping budget and tend to always be shopping when I'm trying to diet - I have this obsession that I have to have full cupboards and a bursting freezer and fridge:o
Floyd - next time you go to your friends' house can I come?;) - That meal sounds like total food heaven! My very favourite thing to eat is hm lasagne and I just can't fit it into a healthy eating plan because I am totally unable to eat a small portion of it and the ready meal one portion ones are all, without exception, RANK!
Have just made an all bran loaf cake to have during the week as an afternoon snack. It is incredibly filling so I figured that a slice with a cup of tea around 4ish should stop me from being ravenous and overeating at dinner time.
Have dug out my pedometer and will see how many steps I do today - I bet it's not that many but it will give me a baseline to build on and see how much I can improve.
suzid - your meal of jacket potatoes baked beans and breaded haddock sounds lovely!Jane
