Hya Folks,
Sorry, I have been away for what must be 6 months or more...life got very busy, and I sort of fell off the wagon big style!
I have taken a few days to read all of this year's thread...it would have taken ages to catch up with the last six months-worth of posts! It is good to see lots of old faces (not so old, and not really faces I suppose!). What has happened to Mrs M? She was quite an inspiration to me when I was posting previously.
I am dosed up to the eyeballs with painkillers that are not really killing the pain in my back, but making it more bearable. Unfortunately then make me quite groggy so I can't drive...which we can cope with as a family, but this week my DH is in India (Goa) with work ...aaargh! I really can't cope with all these "dopey" painkillers. I am waiting for my GP to phone and we can discuss changing them.
I am seeing the orthopaedic specialist on Thursday (a friend is taking me), who will hopefully book me in for a MRI scan so we can find out exactly what is wrong with my back...both my chiropractor and GP think there is disc trouble...aaargh.
So any ideas how I can lose weight at the moment when I can't do anything in the way of exercise...I can only walk a few yards before I am doubled over in agony, and I can't sit on the exercise bike.
Sorry for the witter...I am now going to concentrate on trying to lose weight. I have lost 2 pounds this month, but I put on 6 pounds over the Christmas period.
I know I should be losing weight for myself, especially my health, but I do worry how others see me rather than how I feel myself....ALL WRONG, bur that's how I feel.
So the food for today:
B: HM muesli, soya milk and small glass OJ
S: Small satsuma (perhaps two)
L: HM veg soup, slice of HM wholemeal bread small slice of cheese
S:One (honest!) HM hobnob made with less than half the sugar
T: HM pork curry, veg & brown basmati rice; banana
S: SF jelly with fruit
I will try to drop in every day to try and keep me on the wagon...all you folks are a great help, and cheer me up when I feel down.
I might try and walk to the greenhouse today (100 feet away)...I have loads of snowdrops up, and the helebores are starting to flower too...aaah Spring is on its way!
Thanks again everyone for all your inspiration and motivation.

Hi Morag. Not sure if this would be of any use to you, but it would enable you to cycle without the pain of sitting on a bike. But dont know if the continued movement would aggravate the back issue. Anyway here is the link http://www.youreableshop.co.uk/product/pedal-exerciser-EX1020.html0 -

Strange day today. Went to the gym after lunch and then did some shopping but was really light-headed and had to come home early and lie down. I hope I just hadn't had enough calories for a gym day. An emergency Freddo when I got home did seem to help!
bfast branflakes, milk, juice (17.1 p)
lunch parsnip soup (from freezer, home grown veg), bread x2 (4.0p)
tea quorn chilli, cheese, rice (98.3p)
snack banana, apple (0.0) crackers (3p) freddo (15.0p)
Today's cost = £1.37, remainder for week £8.04
No idea what I'm going to have for tea tomorrow tho.Popsy0 -
Pengwern I'm doing a 0-5K programme as well - following a written schedule from sparkpeople but I assume it's a similar thing to yours. I've just finished the second week (5 lots of walk 3 mins then run 3 mins).Popsy0

Thanks for the link Ispartacus, a very good idea. I am still not sure how much motion I should be trying to do at the moment (or am capable of doing!). I will discuss it with the back-woman on Thursday.
Now off to bed early. A bit sore and tired now - I have stopped taking the orange "dopey pills" (after consulting my GP). I may be a bit more with it, but in some more pain...perhaps they were reducing the pain more than I thought!
Night night

Ooh! How do you make HM banana toffee mullerrice? Sounds yummy.
Well done to all the losers and STSers - ispartacus - fantastic!
I get weighed tomorrow and am hopeful that I will show a small loss. I was in hospital again yesterday and overnight with my heart arrythmia - hopefully it was just a hiccup because apparantly the medication they started me on a couple of weeks ago takes a while to kick in (typically three weeks +) but I was really upset about it. I have to lose 3stone by April 6th when I see the specialist about my ablation procedure so I need you to [STRIKE]shout at me and keep reminding me of this[/STRIKE] keep encouraging me!
I didn't eat all that much today because breakfast and lunch were in hospital - didn't have any breakfast and had a small cheese sandwich and cup of tea for lunch. For dinner back home I decided to do a stir fry as I hadn't had one in ages - stir fry stuff was on 3 for 2 in Tesco so bought some beansprout mixture, babycorn and noodles and stir fried it in frylight with some Sharwoods sweet soy and ginger stir fry sauce (4 syns) and some mini chicken fillets, followed by a mandarin mullerlight - it was really lovely! Just had my supper of half a pint of skimmed milk heated with 1 tsp honey (2syns).
I still have no working sink in the bathroom and am having to flush the toilet with a bucket, thanks to Frank Spencer the bathroom fitter - hopefully he will get it sorted tomorrow but who knows? The moral of tale being "don't get your mate's mate who used to be an upholsterer but is now unemployed" to refit your bathroom!
Hope you are all having a good evening! - Totally agree with you about the GMTV thing Frogga - didn't see it myself but they REALLY bug me on there. They all smoke (KAte Garraway was photographed smoking when pregnant), even holier than thou Andrew Castle so they don't often run stuff about smoking!Jane
