Hi Betterlife! well done on last weeks loss!:T I just read your post and wondered if you had any breakfast? I'm a firm believer in having breakfast everyday as it is vital fuel for your body.
I have 3 meals a day and snacks(fruit or yoghurt) and have successfully lost 2 stone this way(and kept it off)
The fishcakes and wedges sound really nice!Do what you love :happyhear0 -
Morning all! Hi there betterlife, you'll like it here.
Been up half the night as DD has been burning up and delirious, poor thing. Hasn't affected her appetite though - she's demolishing breakfast. Not her mother's daughter for nothing! Tiredness can make me piggy so will have to be extra mindful today. Just had a bowl of porridge to keep blood sugar on even keel.
I thought last night that if I lose just 4-5 lb a month I will be a curvy size 14-16 by April (My 18th wedding anniversary!) and positively svelte by the summer (holiday and family wedding to attend). So feeling slightly spurred on. My weakness, as ever, is booze - one night of debauchery equals starchy nibbles and hangover food for days. Been doing my best to steer clear after xmas and ny.
I'm rambling! Here's my plan:
Breakfast: porridge made with water and wholemilk (350?)
Lunch: hm quorn and veg chilli and rice (400)
Dinner: bassa fillet in lemon, herb and tempura batter (270) with salad, peas and tartare (100)
snack: banana, apple2015 wins: Jan: Leeds Castle tickets; Feb: Kindle Fire, Years supply Ricola March: £50 Sports Direct voucher April: DSLR camera June: £500 Bingo July: £50 co-op voucher0 -
Thank you Keiss and taplady for such a lovely welcome back
. I've not set myself any goals other than being able to wear clothes this summer . I honestly don't have any large sizes to wear so I'd have to get all hot and bothered in my winter gear and all of that is tight. Not a happy thought. Also hi to JoJoB a fellow returner. Welcome betterlife :hello:, you bring back so many memories of me at your age, mine were 2, 4, 6 and 9, all that chargeing about to and from schools, nurseries and playgroups, up and down a step hill. Make sure you have enough calories especially mid afternoon which was the time I was starving - literally - and really crabby with the kids. I've since found I loose weight far better if I eat more often to keep the blood sugars up. At about 1800 cals a day is right for me, any less and I loose the plot. I know this sounds barking coming from someone who's just put on 3 stone in a year but I had lost 5 previously so I know it does work. The person who can come up with a reason and remedy for compulsive eating will deserve a sainthood!
Delighted to say I managed to stay on the straight and narrow yesterday though tea changed to a jacket potato, breaded haddock and baked beans as DH didn't fancy the stir fry. Today we are cutting the hedges before the birds think of building any nests. This should have been done in the autumn but never happened due to the monsoon! So a day in the garden should help keep me out of the kitchen for a while.
This morning I had juice, porridge with prunes with a cuppa. Lunch will be the same as yesterday with HM Soup and a bap with yogurt for pud. Tea will either be 'the stir fry' or sausages and veg depending on DH. He'll get the stir fry tomorrow in that case, when he has no input as he's at work. DS will no doubt grumble too, I'm sure he's his dad's clone.
Hope you all have a great day. The weather here is bright and sunny with a breeze to dry the washing and for once it's not stiff in the line!"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life, gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are." Unknown0 -
morning!
suzid - I agree totally with you about eating more often to keep blood sugar up,:T our bodies just dont like it when we eat big meals with nothing much in between. I eat loads in fact far more than friends who struggle to lose weight but I spread mine out over the day evenly while they think its good to skip meals and eat less in the hope they will lose weight or just eat 1 big meal a day.
B - 2 small slices toast and marmalade
L - tomato and lentil soup, small seeded cheese roll and grapes
D - HM quorn cottage pie with baby carrots and sprouts
as usual I will have some fruit and a yoghurt between meals to keep me going.Do what you love :happyhear0 -
Not sure if this will inspire or help anyone but I posted on the weight loss page in 2008 ( http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=7881419#post7881419) to say that I had gone from 13st to 9st7 and stayed there for 20 years! All without a diet as such but just eating smaller amounts and doing regular exercise.
This is just to say that I'm still here, still the same weight and still eating the same things - ie: everything!
Only change is, since losing a friend to cancer, I took up running and did the Race for Life. After that I've kept going (the dog and I at least once a week) and am up to 4 miles with a view to running a 10k race in May.
If I can do it anyone can (even if the dog is a far better runner than me and she's 10 years old)wend

:j Hey JoJo and Suzid are back ~ Yipeeeeee
I'm fine but had an upsetting week so had been sitting at the bottom of the pond feeling sorry for myself~
I had put on so much weight over Christmas that I couldn't get my work trousers on, so I had to wear a different pair that had shrunk a bit in the wash. I knew they had shrunk but I thought I could get away with it as I thought they weren't that bad, but it turns out that they were really bad and my 'friend' kind of mentioned it and then everyone laughedI think they thought I'd take it well as I'm always pratting about as you all know, and I did laugh at the time, but then I came home and stuffed stuffed stuffed  then I did lots of sobbing and lots of feeling sorry for myself, then a bit more stuffing. Then a little bit more. Then I was running out of room so I made my self sick to make way for some more stuffing  Haven't done that for ages!
Anyway had a long chat with Mr Frog who was so lovely, we never really talk about it, but I'll keep the things he said close in my head and it's given me the boost I needed to start again.
SO, here I go again, again. De ja Vu anyone? Really embarrased to say that if you read Wend33's link, and go on a few posts I'm saying the exact same thing, and that was 2 years ago!!!!Will I ever get there?? I too have lost loads and then regained it Suzid. I was thinking about it the other day. At my heaviest I was 22st ans I got down to 12st in 10 months. But I can't stop the binge monster and it all goes back on. On Jan 1st I was back up to 17st
I stuffed SO much I think I put on 4 st in 2 months. My poor old heart.
I'm really happy at 12st. I'm sure that sounds alot to most of you, but at 12st I'm a curvy size 12 and dead happy with that. So I only have to lose 5st which is SO doable as I've lost 10 before. I could be there by the summer too JoJo
Hi Tappy :A and welcome betterlife :hello: you sound like one of those diet milkshakesHi kleiss, floydy and grateful
Hope you are all well.
Anyway, hopping off to have a bath. Had all me food for today so gonna brush me teeth too to avoid temptation
Be good everyone....

I try and follow the sort of eating regime that you do but dont do quite your levels of exercise although I do try and do a little bit everyday even if its only lots of housework or walking the dog. I've kept mine off for 2 years so far by doing this.
