Hmmmmm, my fresh start this week hasn't gone according to plan.... it was doomed from the start really with all the leftover xmas goodies piling into the office. Monday I was good, the rest of the week zoomed downhill at the speed of light!!
It wasn't all pure pigginess, I've felt genuinely hungry a lot of the time too.... not sure what that's all about when I dont seem to have stopped eating!
So my fresh start has now been postponed until Monday... yes, that's this Monday, and it will happen!!
Well done losers!!:T0 -
Hi, I have watched all but the last Paul McKennar shows now, and I am trying to follow the 4 rules. I have to admit I have eaten a lot less then I normally do just by putting my fork down between mouthfuls and chewing much more. I am still feeling poorly so I had a curry delivered, and I only ate half of it where I would have eaten the whole lot in the past (even if I was struggling to finish), and chewing rice was a new sensation for me very strange :rotfl: but I am going to persevere with this and see where it goes.
My food today:
B. 2 slices toast and butter
L. Pizza (left over from yesterday)
D. Lamb korma and mushroom pilau rice
I know its not a fab food day, but I have not left the sofa today0 -
Daily eating plan Good morning!:j I am pleased with myself because I managed to get through Saturday night without going over my syns!:j I have been struggling in the evenings but managed ok last night. Maybe my craving binge is over?
Today I am having EE - probably always will do from now on:D
Breakfast - 1 ounce oatmeal soaked in lowfat yogurt over night with fresh blueberries mixed through this morning - this was very tasty and surprisingly filling - more so than if I'd cooked the oats(HEB + free)
Snack - 1 red grapefruit discovered cowering in the back of the fridge!(free)
Lunch - quorn lasagna (need to use up the quorn) - free + HEA
Dinner - vegetable rice and fish all cooked in the Remoska (free) with sugar free jelly and tinned peaches in juice for afters (free + 3 syns)
Snack - scan bran cakes - (6 syns)
Love

me too shezza!! i was addicted to the tv last week (although i missed the last show!) I love the fact that he says you can eat what you want... but i am trying not to totally pig out as per normal coz i want to eat more healthily as well as lose weight. I think he really makes sense, even with all the tapping, although i haven't tapped much yet - have you?
Hes already got me walking a bit more - park up away from school if im early to pickup kids rather than go in and just stand around the classroom, parked further away at the retail park etc. Im also running up and down stairs rather than shouting at the kids to get me what i wanted!! im sure it all does add up and can feel a slightly less jiggly and wobble belly when i do run upstairs!
Im trying to go with the thought that any small changes will help to lose weight and get fit, so am gonna keep finding ways of small changes, better eating, eating less and feeling better about myself....... steps off her soap box...!
Have a great day everyone x0 -
Inspired by Wezl’s amazing 50p-a-day healthy diet challenge achievement, and being constantly on a diet, set me wondering how cheap a healthy weight loss diet can be.
I have 2 stone to lose. I’m planning to follow the British Heart Foundation (BHF) leaflet on healthy weight loss: you can download the excellent leaflet here . (NOTE: this is NOT the BHF diet that was around a few years ago that was nothing to do with the BHF). I will be following the 1500 calorie version which means I get to eat the following every day:
- 7 or more portions of fruit and veg
- 7 portions starchy foods (bread, cereal, potatoes, rice etc)
- 2 portions milk and dairy foods
- 2 portions protein (meat, fish etc)
- 2 portions of fat
- 1 portion occasional foods (e.g. sugar, donuts)
- 1 or less of alcohol
I would love to say I can do this for 50p a day, but I can’t. I know I can’t. I’m sure I can do it for £20 a week though, given my constraints (see below) and that is my personal challenge. I’m sure it can be done for less: I would like to do it for a lot less.
I would love for other people to join me to see how cheaply this can be done.
I have a few constraints on my budget achievements:
1. I live with a husband and 2 teenagers who will not do this with me so a lot of the time I will have to either buy different food for me, or cost out my portion of a meal.
2. I’m not giving up real coffee for anything! This reduces my weekly allowance for food to £19.01 (buying Asda own brand).
3. I will continue to get our milk from the farmer in the village – I’m not going to support Mr. Hypermarket at the expense of the sort of workers this country already undervalues. 300ml a day in drinks reduces my weekly budget for everything else to £16.99.
4. As a family we all get a curry on Friday evening – I can’t see the boys foregoing that, so I’ll have to add the cost of a similar meal cooked at home.
Also I am going to make a few changes:- I plan to do without alcohol after the Xmas presents are gone.
- the BHF diet doesn’t allow you to count pulses in your veg allowance – I don’t know why but the government 5-a-day guidelines do, so I am going to.
I will try and post daily menus and costs. I will include stuff from the freezer/larder that we grew in the garden (though there’s not much left). I will cook for the freezer where possible and make good use of wholesome soups for chilly winter days. I’ll have to start tomorrow though as I hadn’t planned for this with my weekend shop and tonight’s roast alone will wipe out half the budget!
My plan for tomorrow is:
Branflakes and juice, ½ cup milk
Veg soup of some sort, bread.
Pasta with duck sauce (Jamie Oliver recipe, modified. Left over duck. Has lots of veg and some sultanas in). Parmesan.
Apple.
Haven’t worked out the cost yet but that portion of left-over duck alone will cost £2.76! But waste not want not. Will just have to be frugal the rest of the week.
Anyone else up for this?Popsy0 -
do not forget , it's the size of the portions, not the number that, counts...... regards..bri0

I applaud you Popsytops-go for it! There is, however already an Old Style weight loss thread and you'll probably be best adding to that;) It is all about losing weight sensibly just like you intend to do.0

This sounds like it will be a very interesting thread. I am not looking to lose weight at the mo as I am pregnant, so am looking to eat as healthily as poss O.S. on a low budget - I am looking at 25 weekly for me, hubby and toddler so I will be vey interested to see how you manage.
Good luck!Love and compassion to all x0 -
Thanks thrifty lady. I'll ask if they are interested.Popsy0
