I'm new to this thread and have a lot of weight to lose. Overall I am about 8 - 10 stone too heavy for my height and so you see I have loads to lose. I have 2 very important weddings to go to in August and although I know I won't be able to lose all that weight by then, I am certainly hoping to lose 4 stone. I've bought myself a wii and wiifit plus for my exercise and now need to think about what I eat. I work full time, leaving home about 7.30 and getting home anytime between 5 and 7 in the evening. I would like to be able to take my breakfast and lunch with me to work. Has anyone any suggestions on what I could take? By the way also needs to be as cheap as possible because another challenge this year is to reduce my spending.
Hi Vivw,
I made myself a promise last year to lose 1lb a month as I'm 2 stone too heavy but wanted an achievable target so I didn't lose hope, it doesn't work for everyone but can you set yourself some targets per month then you can see you far you have got each month without beating yourself up weekly.
I also ate 'normally' for a week but made a note in my diary of everything and counted the calories in each thing, yes it was painstaking for a week, but did help me see what I could cut down on easily and what I needed to work on.
My day starts at 7am with walking the dog and getting ready to get to work for 9am, I found if I eat too early I'm hungry before lunch, so I now do myself 2 pieces of toast with thin layer of spread and a topping (peanut butter or bovril for me) and eat this at work with a cuppa.
This now does me through to luchtime at 12.30, but a snack of WW yogurt (only 49 cals) or an orange/apple are healthy options.
My lunch is normally soup & 1 piece of bread or a sandwich (ham / cheese salad no mayo/salad cream)
take a snack for 5pm and eat this at work or in the car, a banana or yogurt, should keep the hunger at bay until you get home to eat.
I often don't get home until 7/7.30pm by the time the dog is walked again so like to know that dinner is ready to cook or better still serve up when I do get in, slow cookers are great but you do need to be organised.
Your working hours are much longer than mine so try something like rice cakes for snacks as they are filling without too many calories.
Good luck.0 -
Hi to all,
I haven't posted in a while as I have not been good over christmas, all that cheese!!
So today is back to work and back on the diet wagon,
B: 1 piece of toast with ginger jam I found in the back of the fridge
S: satuma
L: tub of leftovers I hadn't labelled (turned out to be pork and rice and a bit bland!) and crisps (naughty I know)
S: WW yogurt
5pm S: BananaFish fingers, pots & peas. (don't normally eat these but they have been in freezer since a summer bbq and I'm trying to have a clear out.)
Tomorrows plan:
B: Banana & yogurt
S: satuma
L: another tub of unlabelled leftovers
S: satumaBeef burger and HM pot wedges (same reason as above)
Thank you to all who did post over festive period - its been good to catch up and know that its a tough time.0 -
Hi
I neeeeeeeeeeeeed to get healthy. Am now about 5 stone over a healthy-sized me. Still got some odd Christmas bits & bobs to get through and stupidly let OH go shopping alone, bless him tho - he is cooking tea for when I get home from work. Unfortunately it is pie & chips. nevermind.
so, today looks like this
B - Porridge (a lot of) with honey
L - HM beef casserole with dumplings
D - HM (but not by me) Chicken & Ham pie with chips
hmmmm, I spot a serious lack of Fruit & Veg!2018 AFD 23/240

Floyd - good luck at resisting the leftover stuff at work! I've had the weekend off so its not been too bad but am back to work tomorrow and there's lots of naughties still there and its so hard to resist when the others are tucking in.
I've stuck to my plan today so far too and have made some HM leek and potato soup to take to work tomorrow so I've tasted a mug full as my afternoon snack and its yummy!:D
For those new to healthy eating - start off with little changes first dont try to change everything all at once as you'll find it hard to stick to.Start small and build upon it.
Good luck to you all xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Evening Ladies,
Well today has gone ok so far foodwise. I had an upsetting start to the day as I bust open the zip on me trousersso had to go to work in me scruffies which was really embarrassing. My Mum went into M&S and got me a new pair, but they didn't fit
and they were an 18!!! SO I'm megga peed off as the old ones I bust were a 14. They were ridicularsly tight but even so...
Anyway no point in dwelling, just forget about it Frogga and move on. I haven't binged today so well done me.
Breaky ~ Fibre Filler and Vanilla Rice Milk
Snack ~ banana and 6 brazil nuts
Lunch ~ marmite roll (wholemeal) and wholemeal hot x bun
Snack ~ satsuma
Tea~ Jacket pot, baked beans and stir fry veggies
I'll have a soya pud when East Enders is on and then brush me teeth to avoid the sweets.
I have in the past gone silly and said "no bread, no sugar at all, no potatoes etc." but that doesn't work as I just go and binge after as I feel deprived. This time I am trying to NOT binge, but just eat sensibly and lose it slowly. That's the plan anyway
Just got to get to half term. Am planning on a stone gone by then
Hope you are all ok, hope day 1 went ok for you too Floydy :beer:Say it once, say it loud ~ I'm an Atheist, Anti-Royalist, Socialist, Tea-Total Veggie Frog and PROUD!:D

Hello
Still a tin of quality st at work, I ignored it for most of the day but gave way to 2 toffees. So cross with myself.
Had an apple and cuppa soup for lunch. 2 hard boiled eggs for bfast, + glass cranbery juice. Diner leek, mush, pasta and cheese sauce made with skim mild and little cheese - used a good strong one. Had grilled tomatoe with it. Trying to get my 5 a day. Finished a glass of bucks fizz so I could recycle the bottle - does that count like juice?
Should have gone without the 5 rich tea when I got in from work. Try again tomorrow.WL 11 st 5lb as at 050109. 160209 11st 2lb
