Happy New Year to everyone!
Hope you all had a great evening, morning. My sis and family spent it in Inverness airport rather than with our other sis in Slough...here's hoping they can fly down today!! Staying at home does have it's advantages, even if it is caused by my bad back!!
Now to serious business:
4 pound gain for me too floyd - it could have been worse I suppose!
It is the first weight gain I have had since the beginning of December, so not bad, looking at it like that! Now to get back to sensible eating and more exercise. :j
Today is lovely, cold yet sunny. There is still a bit of a frost (-1 atm), but it wont be too bad walking down the fields. I might take my walking poles with me to help keep me steady...the last thing I want to do is fall! Having had a year of severe back pain this would not be the start to 2010 that I would want!
Have "sort of" planned the meals for this weekend...tricky as I still don't know whether there will be 5 of us, or just me on Saturday! DH is due to take DS2 up to Sheffield for a rugby development camp Saturday and Sunday (Scottish Exiles under 17s) and DS1 and GF are hitching a ride to look round the city (GF is applying to do a Masters there). They will spend the night up there before returning Sunday afternoon/evening.
Think I will take out the gammon joint we have in the freezer and cook it tomorrow, then it will keep for Sunday if it is only me home on Saturday. That sounds like a plan!
So the food plan for this weekend looks like this:
Today:
B: Porridge - late, so no morning snackSaturday:
L: HM Veg soup, HM bread, no cheese (well perhaps a little bit!)
S: Fruit (orange and /or banana) & hot chocolate if need to defrost after walk!
T: HM Dry-roast chicken (thighs & drumsticks), dry-roast potatoes, carrots and broccoli
S: HM Fat-free & low sugar Xmas cake - didn't get around to marzipanning or icing it, so even better for me!
B: PorridgeSunday:
S: Banana/orange
L: HM Soup, HM bread
S: Xmas cake (small piece)
T: Gammon if everyone here, omelette/scrambled eggs if just me home
S: SF jelly
B: PorridgeThat is the plan at the moment.
S: Fruit
L: HM Soup, HM Bread
S: muesli slice
T:HM pizza if no trip north, or Gammon if everyone back from Sheffield
S: Xmas cake (well someone has to eat it!)
Now off to get washed and dressed (such a lazy day!), have lunch and then get out for some fresh air!

It absolutely could be worse Keiss, I also suspect some (but not all) is due to TOTM so I don't feel too bad about it really. Easing my way back into things starting with 3 weeks worth of meal planning and using up anything that needs to be gotten rid of.
We didn't have any chocs or nuts in so thats one less thing I didn't gorge on, just the goats cheese and cheshire cheese to use up so I will think of something not too hefty to make.
B/L: Boiled eggs and wholemeal soldiers with butterHM corned beef pie, 3 new potatoes and a pile of salad and HM pickled onions
S: Final piece of HM key lime pie
Back to it, onwards and upwards0 -

I'm new to this thread and have a lot of weight to lose. Overall I am about 8 - 10 stone too heavy for my height and so you see I have loads to lose. I have 2 very important weddings to go to in August and although I know I won't be able to lose all that weight by then, I am certainly hoping to lose 4 stone. I've bought myself a wii and wiifit plus for my exercise and now need to think about what I eat. I work full time, leaving home about 7.30 and getting home anytime between 5 and 7 in the evening. I would like to be able to take my breakfast and lunch with me to work. Has anyone any suggestions on what I could take? By the way also needs to be as cheap as possible because another challenge this year is to reduce my spending. We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0

vivw - welcome! suggestions for breakfasts you could take to work are
cereal bars(alpen light are very low cal)
banana and yoghurt or any fruit with yoghurt
if you have a fridge you could take cereal and milk, or oat so simple if you have a microwave, plus the usual toast if you have a toaster.
Lunches are easier
salads with pasta or rice in a tub
cous cous
sandwiches
jacket spuds or leftovers from the night before(microwave)
crisp breads
soups(microwave or in a flask)
beans on toast(toaster + micro)
there's loads to pick from. Protein such as meat, eggs, fish or cheese will fill you up and keep you going for longer.
I'll be back if I think of any more.Do what you love :happyhear0 -

I work similar hours to you so I'm used to eating breakfast and lunch in work. If you have access to a microwave and toaster then its much easier, I tend to take any of the following:
Breakfast:
Porridge (bag of oats in desk and milk in flask)
Granary bagel and cream cheese
Toast and marmalade (take bread in a sandwich bag and keep marmalade in my drawer)
Lunch:
Soup (take a frozen brick of soup in, defrosts by lunchtime then nuke in micro, before that I would heat it up in the morning in a flask)
Lentil dal (same as soup for heating up)
Leftover curry or chilli or stew
Beans on toast (I always have a can of beans in my desk for emergencies)
I found that just by cooking my lunches in bulk and freezing them I saved a fortune as the soups were about 30p a portion and porridge for breakfast costs pennies0 -
Ok, here we go.
Morning all.
B - quorn sausage sandwich
L - HM carrot and coriander soup
D - egg and sw oven chips
