Hi
Taplady - my comments weren't aimed at you directly.(I feel bad now).
It's just there does seem a lot of talk about joining WW and points/syns etc.
I really would love to join in (and need to), but when I start a healthy eating plan, it's always at the back of my mind that perhaps I should join a slimming club. I then lose confidence in doing it myself. I suppose I need to know I have the support of other people also doing it by themselves, not who are getting that support from a slimming club IYKWIM.
I need to kick myself up the backside and get moving on this. This does seem a very friendly thread...

Hi Donna,
I'm doing it OS without the aid of a slimming club, I do however keep a rough note of what I'm eating using https://www.thedailyplate.com as its free to use and gives me a good idea of what is in my home-made stuff in terms of fat, sugar etc. and it also helps me to keep a running tally throughout the day of exactly what I'm eating.
I come on here as I need the extra kick in the pants of having to admit how well or badly I'm doing and it has helped me alot when I hit patches where I just cannot lose no matter what I do as someone always has a handy hint or suggestion.
I was 14 stone when I first came on here, I'm now 11st 10 and have been below 12st for nearly a year so it works and I have kept it off without depriving myself. I would like to be around 11st but I'm not convinced I will ever get there, my body seems to quite like being this weightand I'm 5ft 9 so I can't go too far or I would look like a golf club!
Whatever your decision, good luck

Hi
Taplady - my comments weren't aimed at you directly.(I feel bad now).
thats ok I didn't think they were:D I'm glad you've posted again! follow floyd's example as shes done brilliantly without a slimming club.:T
There's always someone here who's got some helpful tips and just posting what you're eating helps to keep you on track I find.
I have posted here on and off since the thread began and always do better when I'm a regular here.
Good luck and ask if there's anything we can help with! xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Hey.
I used to post on here over the summer, but stopped after a while.
I managed to lose nearly half a stone but then put it all back on when I stopped watching what I ate.
Annoyed, and wanting to lose it, and more, I thought it'd be a good idea to start posting on here again as everyone is very supportive and it's good to keep a visual track of what you've eaten.
I was doing so well today until I ate a piece of naan bread that was bigger than my head (I kid you not - in fact, it was probably twice the size!)
So, today, I had:
Breakfast:
A slice of toast with lighter butter, shreddies with nuts and raisins and semi-skimmed milk and a cup of ice with blueberry juice.
Lunch:
A tin of BGTY parsnip and butternut squash soup, a roll with lighter butter and a low fat yoghurt.
Dinner:
5 basics crackers and a fruit salad, consisting of raisins, a pear, an apple, a satsuma, a peach and a plum.
A HUGE naan bread.
So, would've been great if I'd not eaten so much flipping dough!
Tomorrow, I plan to have:
Breakfast:
Slice of toast with lighter butter, 2x weetabix with nuts and raisins, and juice with ice.
Lunch:
Quorn chicken with vegetables.
Yoghurt.
Dinner:
Crumpet (possibly with a topping) and fruit salad.
Alcohol (maybe)
Okies, so there it is.
I also had a couple of questions, which I'm sure somebody on here will know the answer to, if you've time to post:
1. Is skimmed milk as calcium enriched as semi skimmed?
2. What alcohol is best if you want to drink bare dieting (I don't like wine, cider or beer, though I doubt these are low calorie anyways)

Hi, Steph. Skimmed milk, I think, very little difference in Calcium content.
Alcohol - NONE! 7 calories per gram as opposed to 4 calories for a gram for protein or carbohydrate, but in the real world...I think its white spirit - gin or vodka with slimline mixer.
Am back up two pounds today. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
Steph - glad you came back!:j
yes as far as I am aware skimmed milk does have as much calcium as semi skimmed - it is just the fat content that is lower.
Alcohol - I dont drink myself:A:D but I think it is better to have a short such as vodka and have it with a soft drink like diet coke.
hope you have a good day today xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Yup, just checked http://www.eufic.org/page/en/page/FAQ/faqid/calcium-content-whole-skimmed-milk/ and I prefer skimmed. Doesn't go off so fast. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0

Lol, 'in the real world' :P
Thanks gratefulforhelp and taplady!
Done well so far - I tend to do brilliantly during the day but then when it gets to the evening, everything goes t*ts up!
Any tips on how not to let it all go south?May Wins: 2 x Beauty Brilliance Multipurpose Highlighter Sticks in pink and gold, Cellulite buster cream, Garnier eye roll-on stuff and James Brown Hair Mask.

steph - when it comes to evening there's a few things you can do.
keep a supply of 'healthy' snacks for when you 'need' something eg
yoghurt, fruit, bowl of salad, low cal crisps such as french fries, hilights hot chocolate for the choccy cravings.
home made soup is great - a cupful fills you up and is good for you.
Try not to keep other fattening snacks in the house and dont let others eat them in front of you.
keep busy - so you dont think about food,a friend said taking up knitting helped her as it kept her hands busy.
Thats all I can think of just now but I'm sure the others will have some suggestions.Do what you love :happyhear0
