    That's fantastic!!

I’m not overweight but my clothes are getting a bit tight and I’ve gained about half a stone since getting married in March so if I can reverse that it would be good! I’m not into fussy diets or anything though, just trying not to snack on junk and have smaller portions of healthy, homemade food :-)

2 slices un-virtuous toast & butter, cuppa tea (not too ill for tea;))

    elevensies
    2 finger kit-kat

    lunch
all day brekkers type sarnie, bag of crisps, diet (:rotfl:) fizzy pop of the cola variety

    dinner
Dont know, got to go shopping after work, probably end up with something junky to finish of the day

Sooooooooo, plan for tomorrow (got list for shopping)

    Brekkers
    Porridge with honey, cuppa tea

    Snaksies
    Banananananana, grapes

    Lunch
Home made Celery Soup (just remembered I had this in the fridge, could've had it today - Doh!)
virtuous wholemeal toast, low fat spread

    Dinner
Home made chicken nuggety things & HM spicy potato wedges with a feta, onion & tomato salad mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

No walking lunchtime - weather iffy again, so will walk home after shopping (20 mins)

    Hi all,

Nice to see you are doing so well M.E .:T

Still holding it together but still ill  I hate getting colds because they take forever to clear

B: Nothing today (tut tut) too busy

L: Leftover HM scouse with a small roll

D: Veggie spag bol with a big side salad

S: Small cappuccino made with semi milk

Really busy so hopefully it will take my mind off the malted milk sandwich biscuits in the office and the cream and fresh fruit choux ring I spied in the museum cafe while getting my coffee this morning :o

    Have a good day all
  • New on here... joined up on the october food shopping challenge thingy and found this!!!!

Have 2 kids and a lovely hubby and home cook all the time to try to keep them fit and healthy! Down side to this is I've gone from a size 12 to size 16 over three years grrrrr!!!! :(

Currently weighing in at 12st 2 (NOT HAPPY!!) and need to loose weight as it doesnt sit well on a 5"4 frame but I hate doing fad diets and dont want to stop the home cooking.... both the kids are healthy weights so dont really want to go low fat on everything but really want a usefull way of loosing some lbs without spending them too!!!

Normally were cooking very traditional british local kiddy foods! ie stews, pies soups and casseroles! Things I can get ready before I do the school run and have on cooking ready for them ( i head out to work at 5pm so things get a bit rushed in the eves!!) Im a lover of spice and so's the hubby so I dont mind doing a couple of different meals and batch freezing the rest!

We try to shop at the farm and butchers and then store cupboard bits I get from my work (the local corner shop!)

So please any menu ideas??? Have tons of soup recipes but am still looking for a good spicy tomato recipe!

    Please help!!

Has gone to play on her own little world for a bit..... but its ok the voices in her head came too so she's not alone ;)

    Hi nomoneymummy :)

    Welcome aboard

I am also a firm believer that going low fat and fiddling with good nutritious food to make it a 'diet' version is not the way to go as it leads to you feeling deprived and obsessing about so called forbidden foods. Portion control and sensible eating with increased activity are the most sensible ways of losing weight slowly so that it will stay off and be easy to maintain for good.

Personally I try to stick to porridge made or wholemeal toast with HM jam for breakfast, veg based soup or dal type stews for lunch and a decent hearty dinner. It goes against the whole breakfast like a king way of thinking but as dinner is the only meal OH and I eat together, I couldn't sit with a small bowl of soup and watch him eat stew and dumplings! Every meal is bulked out with veg, whether its extra veggies with a casserole or a salad with pasta it all goes to stave off the hunger :)

I have copied our fortnights menu plan before to maybe give you some ideas:
Chickpea curry with brown rice and 1/2 a naan
Veg chilli with brown rice and a side salad
Jacket spuds with tuna and salad
Roast chicken with lots of veg, sweet potato mash and gravy
Chicken pie with veg (real puff pastry)
    Singapore chow mein
Wholemeal spaghetti matriciana and side salad
Chicken zorba with wholemeal pitta, HM salsa and spicy rice
Prawn laksa and raw courgette and carrot salad with peanut dressing
Sausage casserole and veg (good quality meat sausages)
Steak and ale pie and veg (real puff pastry)
Baked fish, HM wedges and mushy peas
    Scouse, beetroot and crusty roll
Veg spag bol and side salad
Veggie burgers, HM wedges and beans
    Chilli chicken ramen

I really try to limit the amount of junk we eat and where possible everything is made from scratch using good quality ethical meat/eggs. The easiest thing we did was to start weighing rice and pasta before boiling it as you realise how much you over-cook by guessing portions. The first time you do it, it looks like you will never be full but with some extra greenery or padding out with pulses you don't miss it after a while.

Following this basic plan and going cycling once a week I've lost 2 stone and so far managed to keep it off for 9 months so it seems to work.

Good luck and feel free to ask for hints and tips any time.

I'm off for some rice pudding with cinnamon stewed apple :)
  • Ohh thanks for those... some of my faves that I have been denying myself are in there, I did try the breakfast like a king thingy but same situation here with dinner... watchin OH eat hm chicken pie while I ate dry crackers and plain tuna (blame the 3 day diet for that meal plan!) was killing me!
Chicken Zorba looks like one I deff will be trying!

Was in a lazy junky mood yesterday but due to the OGC was trying really hard not to spend so made my own pizza for the first ever time! Used much less cheese and junk than any i would have bought and crammed on tons of veggies... thought the OH would be unimpressed as he's a huge meat fan and i'd cut back big time on the meat but he wolfed it down and claimed it was the best pizza he's had to date :T

    <very chuffed with myself!!>

I tend to skip breakfast and then eat biccies with my coffee which I really must stop!

Right off to finish getting kids rounded up and ready! :j

    Thanks again!!

Hi all, nomoneymummy, I agree with floyd - cut down and have a small bit of everything you fancy - but make sure you notice if it's one biscuit or 6 (in my case :o). I can't do with feeling deprived or having foods banned - my diet breaks on day 3 that way :o

So day 4 for me today ;)

b: farls with smoked salmon and one fried egg (I was missing it :o)
l: HM butternut soup (too much garlic) and a small HM roll
d: spanish style scrambled eggs (with potato, prawns, and leeks in)

snacks - cherries - maybe a nuitrigrain bar if I'm desperate.

Plan to walk to the shops today as not too much to get.
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?
  • So I've concluded that my recent weight loss was due to muscle turning to fat since I've not been to karate in a month. :(
Was hoping to go back soon but I've been advised to say off for a further few weeks due to the broken toe not healing as quickly as I would like!
Think it's about time I started doing some sort of exercise as the jeans were feeling a little snug yesterday.
