  • Hi all,
I'm a long time lurker on this board, and have been tring to be extra good recently as I've regained 3 stone in the last three years . So last week I went back to basics and made sure I had NO sweets/chocolate/crisps and ate three meals with one or two snacks a day.
I weighed myself at Boots this morning and had lost 2.7kg in a week - I was over the moon.

However, on the way home with my shopping, when I got off the bus I was approached my a stranger (female) who told that "good for you for getting out!"

Now, I must explain why this made me feel odd and not knowing whether to laugh (having just lost nearly half a stone) or cry that a stranger felt she needed to give me "encouragement and praise". I am a VERY large person - medically I am severely morbidly obese (nearly 30 stone so even after my inital loss of 11 stone still VERY big). Although I prefer the terms SSBBW :D

It was weird to have someone come up to me to offer their "encouragement" as usually it's stupid coments from bratty kids and their ignorant parents. I know she meant well, and that's how I took it, but it still made me feel weird.

Sorry for the rambling post, just felt as if I had to tell someone about this and know that you will all understand.

On a more general note - thanks to everyone who posts on here as you have inspired me to keep trying, no matter how long it takes.

    Thank you all

    Fi

  • Well, flower, anyone with remotely developed social skills would keep that kind of comment on the inside. But you were very kind not to get arsy with her, I would have. Whatever you weigh, you do not deserve people making random comments.

  • Hi ladies and gents
I wonder if I can join in? I am trying to lose 2 stone by Hogmanay which would get my BMI in the 'Healthy' zone for the first time in about 10 years! I could really do with the encouragment and you seem like a great bunch here (I've been lurking for a bit :o).

Started my OS diet last week and have lost 2lb, hoping for the same this week. I have a big pot of HM lentil soup to use up over the next few days so hopefully this will help along with many dates at the gym!

    :hello:

Had another good day today, I can't believe I'll keeping this up (though OH keeps 'suggesting' I might like crisps, biscuits and pudding:confused:)

Anyway I have resisted and even managed another trip to the gym though I didn't do much as I had a long chat to the coach to check what he thinks I should be working on now my weight is starting to move.
(At least I used their shower - not my elec or water meter, very OS)

Have eaten a chicken stirfry with lots of veg so now I'm going to relax for an hour before bed.

Good luck to everyone and I'll see you all tomorrow.

Flowerofthewest try not to let that person's comments bother you, although I know it's hard and I can really empathise with you. I am tall and a size 24 myself. A few months ago, I was in town walking down the road, chatting to my friend, minding my own business and some random bloke shouted, "Shut up fat cow" at me.

I was really embarrassed as there were lots of people about and I got so upset when I got in. :( Part of the reason I want to lose weight is to feel more "invisible" amongst the general public. I hate admitting it, because we shouldn't ever feel ashamed of ourselves, whatever our weight (and generally I don't) but I also know how incidents like that really do affect how we feel about ourselves and our perceived body image.

Anyway......... I ate pudding last night after dinner (I don't normally bother with puds), as we had guests and they brought round HM lemon meringue pie - OMG it was fantastic! :T I really enjoyed it, so am not going to let that slip bother me.

    Today's meals are:
Breaky: Malties & soya milk and a coffee
    Snack: strawberries
Lunch: Pitta bread with ham and salad and 2 x petit filou
Dinner: Meatballs in sauce with new potatoes & kale

No aerobic exercise today, but I will be going to Curves on Wed, Thurs & Friday this week.

    Have a great day everyone.

    Hi all,
I'm back after being awol (from here) for about 3 months.

I have put on... too much :o But been trying to deal with other things than my weight. My bmi is 24.9 so just within healthy - but my clothes are all getting a little "snug" - er tight round the waist and bust.

So I'm back to try and do something about it. I want to lose a stone now to get back to my goal weight :o

Just seems to be so difficult to eat healthily, I'm so tired all the time that I can hardly be bothered to cook - so sausages, fishcakes and chips have featured rather often on our meal plans.

I'm bored of eating sausages, chicken breasts, chicken casserole, and mince. Does anyone have any other ideas for really easy low fat meat dishes? I have a slow cooker.

Anyway, it's going to have to be one tiny step at a time - it's all I can really cope with - it worked for me previously. Off to update my signature... as the total weight loss is out of date....
