can i ask please, what is curves? i am guessing some type of exersise class?thanks

Yes you are right. Curves does fitness and weight loss for women. There's thousands of them all over the world!

I am a member and it's pay monthly, so it is not strictly OS, but I treat myself because it's much less expensive than "normal" gyms, it is women only and the circuit only takes 30 minutes. It's only a small place and I can go in my old baggy exercise clothes and not feel intimidated.

It makes me work up a sweat and works all the major muscle groups so I know I'm doing myself good. It's a circuit made up of pieces of equipment interspersed with cardio mats on the floor. You can dance or jog or do whatever you want on the cardio mats to increase your heart rate.

You use each thing only for 30 seconds at a time e.g. you start with a piece of equipment for 30 seconds, then move to a cardio mat for 30 seconds, then then move to the next piece of equipment for 30 seconds, then a cardio mat, and so on and so on..... until you have done 3 circuits.

You finish with stretching and it's all done in 30 mins! I go in my lunch hour so it's perfect for me. I know I could go for a walk which would be free, but I like Curves and I do go regularly, so I don't begrudge paying the fee each month, because it's improving my fitness and health.

We have the same thing here (east Mids) but it's called Trim Fit. I joined last year & went for a few months but then got a new job & was away from home & working different hours & just found I wasn't going often enough to justify the fee.

Things have settled down a bit now so I'm going to join again after I get back from holiday mid August.

I need to do something because apart from only using the stairs at work - I work on the 5th floor & have to go up & down stairs all day, sometimes as far as floor 12 - I do nothing these days.

I've lost 8 lbs by low carbing over the past 4 1/2 weeks but, although it works, that isn't a way I want to eat forever. It was more of an emergency measure when I saw myself in my cossie.

When I get back I'll be back to healthy eating, lots of vegetables & fish, moderate wholegrains, fruit, dairy & lean meat. Moderate alcohol too - I tend to let myself go on my hols! :D

Oh dear, if this is your idea of binging then I'm doing a lot worse that I thought!

Well I sucumbed to the fish and chips at work for lunch - only a small portion (they do a fish special deal for £2.30) So I managed to be super good the rest of the day, much to my suprise:rotfl:

I shall be getting weighed tomorrow and am really looking forward to it cos I haven't felt so good about myself for months.

had busy day y'day so no chance for post

had been quite good on thursday, then met friend for tea/ counselling session... supposed to be going for coffee/ dessert, but she hadn't had any tea, so while she had big burger/ garlic fries I had celery and chicken soup, great... then she ordered bannoffi pie and fresh cream, no healthy (???) dessert option, and so as not to make her feel odd about eating dessert on her own, i ordered the same - why could i not manoeuvre myself out of that situation??? (pie was way too sweet, yuck)

    Fridays food:
breakfast - half cheese and ham toastie (yuck too greasy/ cheesy) - out doing food shop with OH and stopped for coffee

    lunch - nothing

snack/ picnic in park with friends and kids - choc eclair (provided by friend) melon and cherry's (provided by me)

dinner - at friends house, chinese take away, boiled rice and mixture of different dishes - i ate small portions

supper - made 2 pitta bread with ham but only ate 1, plus black russian (made with diet coke)

we were on holiday in canary islands at start of July and I noticed the heat was curbing my appetite, so have tried to keep portion sizes smaller since my return... seems to be working

no exercise y'day other than short walk, playing a bit of ball games etc with the kids at beach ... due to go swimming over weekend with the kids

breakfast/ brunch today will be home-made pancakes (made with wholemeal flour)

snack - going to the cinema this afternoon with the kids, i normally dip into the kids popcorn... so will get some salty popcorn to avoid eating kids sweet stuff

tea - saturday is normally our take-away night, I will order this for the family but have something healthy myself -maybe veg and rice

so lessons learned - thursday was unusual re session with my friend, i am rarley out during the week, but i guess all these blips add up, also i have been skipping meals which is not good

friday - choc eclair mmmm no excuse for that, find it so hard to say no when someone else has bought the food, seems so rude, little voice in my head says 'sure its only one thing... go on eat it, you deserve it'

this weekend i have complete control over my food plan so will keep it on track

i remembered i have vouchers for 2 facials from different spa's - left over from my birthday in April, so have decided they will be my reward - when I lose 4lb I will use voucher 1, when I lose next 4lb, second voucher will be used

goal is to lose 1lb per week and I am going to do it!!!!
