Well I went on a food and sleep fest last weekend, so I'm hoping for a no gain this Thursday.
I embarrassed my teenage daughter on Monday. She is camping with the school and needed help with her bags, so I had my hands full. Anyway we were walking along when suddenly I felt a draught and looked down to see my trousers around my ankles.:o I don't think she will be asking me to help with her bags in future and I need to buy a smaller pair of trousers.
    Anyway today I had:
    B. Porridge and banana
    S. chocolate cup cake that my daughter made.
    L. Ham and cucumber sandwich.
    S. 2 plums and 2 cupcakes
    D. Chicken, Mediterranean cous cous, and pepper, carrot, spring onion and mushroom stirfry with sesame oil and soy sauce.

Exercise: 5 mile walk and half a mile run. Hope to get an hour on the stepper as well.

Good luck with your weigh in Rachel and welcome to Mummyroo.

Hi all, good luck with the weigh in Rachel!
I have had a pretty good day, Dr recommended taking regular ibuprofen until inflamation settles in my knee and seems to be working so far. Managed 30 minutes of boxing on the wii this evening but still staying clear of the jogging etc.

    Today I have eaten:
B 1 thin slice HM bread with poached egg and tomato

L A ham and salad sandwich on granary bread and 1/2 an apple (DS left over!)

D Poached salmon fillet, jacket pot and lots of veg. With yummy fresh strawberries and blueberries for pud, though DS was not so keen on sharing them as he was the apple earlier on!

    Snack for later Pumpkin seeds.
Again coming in at around 1200 cal and not feeling hungry so very good news! Probably be starving tomorrow as at work and not with a toddler who is very good at taking my mind off food!

I see that you cycle 4 miles- Is that a real struggle?

I've just got an exercise bike (not a real one like you lol) but don't know what target to set myself?

    Anyone else have any advice?!?

Welcome back! Honestly, it really is a struggle! I don't drive so my bike gets me to work. I have a medical issue (fibromyalgia) which means for me, i choose to cycle to work 4 times a week as I genuinely believe it helps my fitness, flexibility, muscle strength, endurance, and general wellbeing and overall reduce pain. I have been cycling to work for a couple of years though so I don't count it really as weight loss exercise as my body is used to it if that makes sense (well, as used to it as it can be!)

Regards your bike (well done), set yourself a realistic achievable target and build on it. For eg - ten minutes every other day for a week, then build it up another 2 minutes each week - or what ever you feel comfortable with. It depends on your fitness level and a whole load of other factors of course, but I think its really important to set yourself a realistic achievable target, other wise you will just get fed up and give in! I record my results and exercise so I can look and see how I have progressed and that really helps me too. Try listening to your favourite album and you could always cycle for the first x amount of songs ? Just an idea...... Then when you move up, you get another song etc.

I am trying skipping which has went like this

    13th May 100 skips
    14th May 140 skips
Today 251 but that was a real push. This is me really pushing myself very hard so i possibly should be doing it a bit slower! That's me though, impatitent.

  • Hello
Cant believe its been 12 days since I posted. In that time I have gained a pound and lost a pound. Ho Hum.

I am inspired by the exercisers amoung you, wish I could be as good. Had a 2 hour yoga class on Monday, will try and incorporate some stretching into my day tomorrow as that helps my shoulder injury. Food not going as well as it should so need to re-dress my menus. OH and I love salads which should be good but these are not enjoyed so much by teens especially DS, I hate having to cook different meals. Have been picking - overeating on brazils and pistachios, these have gone now as have most of the sweets in the office jar. I will try harder I must.

Good luck to everyone and hugs to all just for being there.

Thanks for the advice zippychick

My "realistic goal" before I had even got it home was to do 20 miles :o :rotfl: How silly am I!!! Listening to music whilst I'm doing it sounds like a good idea!
(Sorry to hear about you having fibromyalgia- a friend I had a few years ago had it and really suffered with it :( I bid you well in over ruling it iykwim?!?!)

Think I'll see what I can do comfortably for the 1st time and then up it by x amount of mins etc.

procrastinator hang in there! Can you not prepare your salad earlier in the day and then at dinner time just prepare your main part of the meal and the kids dinners whilst dishing out your pre-made salad? Or buy it freshly prepared... It costs a little more but I am the only 1 in this house who eats it so it works out cheaper than buying a load of ingredients that I can't use in time!

    !

Thanks , that's really kind:o. I try not to mention but when answering an exercise question it is relevant as my body will react to someone without it completely differently if that makes sense.

20 miles? 15 out of ten for having ambition! Totally set your own goal after a first go and let us know how you get on! It's all progress :D:j:j:D (And don't be surprised how hard it actually may be, honestly!)

    Hi Procrastinator :hello:.

Looking forward to weigh day, really hope I have a good result as if not I will be quite disheartened! Night all.

Not a bad day today, i think I'm better in work (so long as the patients don't bring me treats!!:o)

B/L~ 2 weetabix with banana and OJ
D~ (on 1st break) left over chicken stir fry and rice from last nights dinner and a skinny latte.
S~ (on 2nd break) wholemeal pitta with chicken and salad, low fat yoghurt and some cherries.
(co-op doing 3 for £5 on punnets of fruit!!)

No exercise except for hoisting 30 stone legless man out of bed (now that is real exercise...was dripping sweat!) and general running around ward.

Rachel021976......:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: who was more embarrassed..you or your daughter!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

:T to you all for doing well and hugs to those that need them!

Just wanted to add to anyone who (like me) has occassional 'blow outs'......my way of looking at this all is that it is for life, this is not a 'diet' it is a change in my life that I will continue with forever and ever.
That means that I might not lose weight every week, I might gain some weeks but that is what 'normal' people do aswell...even skinny people have their weight go up and down by a pound or two on different weeks.
Skinny people also have 'blow outs' when they eat chinese and pizza, eat chocolate or sweets but it is in balance with the rest of their life, so long as there is balance then it is OK.
I cannot imagine my life without chocolate, sweets, takeaways or slap up meals....I just have to accept that I can't have them everyday!!
