help please educate me, i seem to be totally incapable of "dieting" and OS'ing ... i make cakes for the kids and i eat them *sigh* most of the meals i make are cheap and homemade but they also tend to be very calorific which doens't work.
I've done really well to bring my food spending down but i just can't seem to balance the two. This months aim :- Stick to food Budget / find £100 for my car insuranceMay GC :- £250/£234.55 :T:A:TJune GC :- £150/£127.37:eek:0 -
evening!
I managed to lose the half pound required so that I dont have to pay at SW:j but still got 3lbs to get off to get back to target. I am hoping it will be easier at work from now on as 2 of my workmates have also joined SW so we can support each other and stop each other reaching for the biscuit tin!:)
am on an early start tomorrow so I'll catch up with you all in the eveningDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Hi Taye,
What sort of meals do you make for your family in an average week? There may be some small tweaks you can make that will lower the calories/fat without your family noticing.
Here are a few examples but we can be more specific if you give us an idea of what you eat:
-If you make pies roll the pastry thinner or only make a lid instead of top and bottom.
-If you put butter in mash, gradually reduce the amount over time.
-If you make cheese sauce, use mature cheese so you can get away with half the amount with no loss in flavour.
-Skim the fat off mince and stews after cooking
-Increase the amount of veg on your plate and decrease the size of your carb/protein portion (you don't have to do this for everyone, just you)
I find that I don't need such large portions of carbs or protein if I have an extra vegetable so if I have spag bol, I have a big side salad that I eat first or if I have a veggie curry I will have a side of spicy cauliflower or spinach and less rice.
There is nothing to say you can't have lovely homemade cakes, just eat them in moderation. By not 'banning' things like cakes and pastry you are less likely to crave them0 -
Well miracles can happen!
Managed to stay the same at weigh in last night after 2 weeks of total hopelessness!!:j:j
Its inspired me to start again properly and get on with it - there's only 6lbs to go to my personal target weight and I need to stop faffing about.
Today I had
B - cereal (milk to dog) (B choice)
L - a twix (was late for an appointment in Sheffield and couldn' stop for lunch - bad I know but could have been worse -about 10 syns
D - quorn meatballs in passata sauce with wholewheat spaghetti (all free)
E - 60 mins walking with dog
Will try for a better day tomorrow.0 -

Dinner was not so healthy! What is my mum like? I had Marks lasagne (small ish portion), 3 onion rings , about 5 pot wedges and 1 slice garlic bread. Resisted chunk of french stick! Yummy and wouldnt be so bad, but i eat a bowl of crisps before it! :eek:A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Saintly today!! :A
B and L~ large bowl red berry flakes, Orange juice
S~ pack of snack a jacks and skinny latte
D~2 bagels with salad and thin slice turkey and mullerlight.
Was working today and even avoided all the biscuits!
Feet just about held up with bad blisters, had to wear the crocs and avoid my boss (they've now banned crocs in the hospital )
I'm also very very skint!! Stressed all morning trying to ring bank to beg for overdraft (long story) but since they didn't ring me back I had to swallow my pride and ask my big sister to loan me some money.:o
Will have to be very old style for the next couple of weeks and clear my fridge/freezer/cupboards so any recipe suggestions welcome please!!0 -
I like The Good Food website for recipes, other people comment on the recipes so I use them as my guinea pigs lol.
The plan for today:
Banana and muller light
Wholewheat pitta bread with falafel and salad (i'm getting a bit addicted to these)
Not sure about dinner but it will be something quick because I have to dash my eldest son to Taekwondo.
Hopefully do my jogging tonight too. Have a good day everyone!Slimming World - 3 stone 8 1/2lbs in 7 months and now at target :j0 -
Yep, I can also heartily endorse the Good Food website, never had a duff recipe yet
Still doing OK this week, no unplanned things so I am crossing my fingers this week for a loss
B: 2 wholemeal toast with HM marmalade
L: Leftover scouseChicken zorba with wholemeal pitta, salad and a little spicy rice

I WILL BE GOOD TODAY!!!!
Today's food will be...
B - cereal (milk to dog) (B choice)
L - supernoodles pot, banana and satsuma (all free)
D - left over quorn meatballs in passata sauce with pasta (all free) with little bit of grated cheese on top (A choice)
S - not sure yet but will try to resist if I don't really need it
E - walk my dog for 1 hour (spilt over a couple of walks) and possibly walk Scooby the Great Dane
By the way, I got offers from both universities for teacher training - have accepted one and will start in Sept!! Scary but fab at the same time - retraining at 37 and getting married in the same year - mid life crisis??:rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Floyd What is scouse? I have wondered this before!
Rachel - What does "milk to dog" mean?
Todays plan
B - Smoothie made - yoghurt, banana, strawbs , oats and a teasp of oatbran (? hoping this isnt an overdose else im im trouble later)
L HM Spinach medley soup from freezer (made up recipe). One round of brown bread and HB egg to make into dippy sandwich for soup
D HM Irish stew in the fridge with a round of bread and butter
Snacks - I have with me 20g crisps, and a tiny tub the same size of dried cranberries and nuts. Also an apple and Pear
Actually, that seems like far too much food! I will just try and eat to my fullness as Paul McK says. Listening as we speak.
Do i update later if the actual varies from the plan? Still getting the gist.
E - Cycle 4miles. Will try to go walking this evening or do something later.A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
