Hi All. have been keeping track and learning the lay of the land....

Havent been terribly good this weekend as im starting tomoro - dont all diets start tomoro? Still torn at how to plan it but going to try moderation etc for a week and see how that goes.

    Yesterday -
B Smoothie (wooooo, great advice although it was more a watery so need to work on that. Time myself and it took 3-4 mins!:D)
    Toast x 2 - thin slice

L - one round of bread with chicken as sandwich

    D - Macaroni cheese and 2 mini chicken kievs:o

    S - Whoopsied mars bar egg for 20p :p

I wasnt too well yesterday and had slept from 6-9pm so when i woke i was starvacious, as i never would have mac cheese for dinner! Thats my excuse and im sticking to it.

Exercise - went for a MASSIVE shop and brought it all home on my bike. Then had to go to butchers etc, so reckon i cycled around 3miles. DId an awful lot of cleaning too but im not sure if that counts :D

    Friday
B - Cereal - never usually eat breakdast
L - Coronation chicken sambo eat in two parts - with 1.5tsp of mayo
D - can't remember :D. Oh yes, Savoury rice made into egg FR with chicken. Was ok but yuck as i forgot to rinse the starch off the rice.

E - Cleaned for 5.5 hours, walked 1.5 miles home, then cleaned and heavy lifted around the house for a good 2-3 hours.

    Today -
B - Two rounds brown toast and one HB egg
L/D - Chicken roast dinner (mmmm, treat of roasties before dietsville starts!)

Just going out now to collect freecycle, so will prob walk 1.5 miles or so.

I'll get into the habit of updating daily.

Does everyone share a weigh day? I dont actually own scales, so need to make a point of weighing at certain time. Going to use a tape measure tonight to measure everything on myself, so i can also gauge that way. Going to try on my skinny jeans - which do go on but have a muffin top, so will try them again after two weeks of serious proper eating and exercise. I just want it to be natural and not some big drastic chore, as i really want to live my life with a normal diet.

Ive found i put everything else before food, so trying not to do that. I dont have regular meal times too, so that may be a problem.....

My consultant said it is because you would not normally eat rice for breakfast so it is not teaching me proper eating habits:confused:. I told her millions of Chinese people eat it every day for breakfast and it didn't seem to be doing them any harm:D - she just gave me "the look" and told me not have it. I still have it about twice a week though!

Marion - not sure I would get on with your consultant - far too strict for me:D I'm definitely not strict enough! I disagree with SW on their policy of not allowing smoothies - surely if fruit is 'free' then it should be ok to eat lots of it in a smoothie!(as long as you dont add anything else)

Zippy - no regular weigh days here - we all do our own thing:D eating regular meals is a must if you want to lose weight!

    food today(hopefully)

B - 2 small wholemeal toast with marmalade

    S - apple, alpen light

    L - small jacket, salad and spaghetti(tin)

    S - yoghurt

D - HM cheese and potato pie and beans

any other snacks will be kiwi fruit, grapes and banana.

    .

I always struggled with that in SW. We were told with smoothies you dont get the same nutritional benefit and eat too much and have little filling power? Like if you eat a punnet of strawberries and 2 banannas great, but if you eat them in a smoothie there isnt as much filling power or saiety (sp) because theyre squished up? Never got it myself!

Regular meals - whats the latest i can eat dinner? I have seen me eat at 7-8 as normal, or on friday night it was after 10 :o I don't do it intentionally but if i have things to do i would rather do those and relax eating knowing ihave nothing to do iykwim! Going to try to aim for regular meal times .

I start work at 1030 so its adjusting my day. Problem is when i eat my lunch in two parts, im not hungry enough for dinner until way later. Hmm maybe i should just pack smaller lunches since im now also going to be eating brekkie?:D

Really appreciate the guidance so far on here, I guess you forget the obvious sometimes. And the smoothies defo awesome , maybe every other day so good variety, I even used powdered skimmed milk, perfecto!

Some kind soul put a link up a page or so ago, Ill check that now. Thanks to those who have helped me:A

Zippy, here are some of the popular smoothie recipes from my work that I can remember off the top of my head:

Brazilian - Mango, Papaya, Pineapple, Orange Juice
Berry Burst - Blueberry, Raspberry, Strawberry, Orange Juice
Mango Burst - Mango, Strawberry, Low Fat Yogurt or Soya Milk, Pineapple Juice
Cherrylicious - Cherry, Peach, Apple Juice
Peach Heaven - Peach, Banana, Strawberry, Apple Juice
Breakfast - Orange, Banana, Apple Juice
Breakfast 2 Go - Muesli, Strawberry, Honey, Low fat Yogurt or Soya Milk, Orange Juice

There are loads more but these are all really nice having been tried and tested by myself :p

For me there is no "latest time" I would eat dinner, but I would only eat something light if it was going to be really late I ate, no time to burn it off! My biggest meal now is lunch, I have enough at breakfast to get me through until snack time, big lunch then I can burn it all off in the afternoon from walking around, housework, exercise etc have another piece of fruit at the next snack time then have a small portion at dinner around 7ish. I'm definitely no expert but it's helped me a lot eating every 2-3 hours, it means my body is never starving and always feeling nice and full.

I decided to get a mixed bag of rocket and watercress for my salad today, walked to Sainsburys since it was closest. Half way through eating it I suddenly started chewing something hard, a big black bit of plastic! :mad:Bleargh! I have a phobia of anything in my food (I got a stone in a baked potato not that long ago and a bit of string in a breakaway biscuit!) So now I feel all yucky and don't think I'll eat very much for the rest of the day. How annoying!

Will come back if I remember any really amazing smoothie recipes later :p Tata for now!

The way I understand it is that a calorie is a calorie whether you eat it at 7pm or 10pm and our SW consultant says the same, that it doesn't matter when you eat as long as you have the 3 regular meals a day plus healthy snacks so dont worry about eating late.:)

I follow Paul McKenna's approach to weight loss.
    1. When your hungry eat.
    2. Eat what you want
    3. Eat consciously - no distractions. Put your fork down between each mouthful and chew your food twenty times. Really tune in to how your stomachs feeling.
    4. When you feel full stop.

    Today I had:

Breakfast: Porridge and banana. Grapefruit juice
    S. apple
    D. Roast chicken, 2 small roast potatoes, carrots and peas with gravy.
    S. A slice of chocolate swiss roll and a mini cream egg.
    T. Cheese and walnut sandwich, cucumber, tomatoes and beetroot.
    S. cherry tomatoes.

Exercise: am. 1 hr on the stepper + p.m. 2 hrs on the stepper.

Haven't been very good to-day....menu was:

B....last nights left over veg., fried egg, 4 slices bread and butter!
    S....apple, slice fruit cake, glass water;
D....Stew, lots of veg, potatoes, tea, 2 slices fruit cake.

As I didn't have lunch I suppose it could have been worse...but all that bread and cake!

    Good luck to all

Morning all. Wow Rachel - 2 hours on a stepper! You must have buns of steel!

Been a difficult 2/3 days as i've not felt my best and been tempted into having drinks. Reigned it in yesterday though and practised my firmest "No" to hubby wanting to go to a beer garden for sunny afternoon (yet again). We had a nice walk to seafront and bandstand instead and while he bought chips i managed to be good. Still need a push for the next couple of days in order to register a loss this week though! I got 6 weeks before going on holiday so my dream is to lose 2lb a week so I am in shape for lots of lakeland walking.

Breakfast: fruit n fibre (300 cals)

    snack: melon and grapes

    Lunch: omelette and peas (350)

    snack: mini oatcakes and hummus

Dinner: hm veg and lentil korma with mini naan (500)

    Breakfast - Muesli
Lunch - Cheese and tomato toastie
    Dinner - Pasta and Brocolli
Snack - Smoothie, undecided what kind yet, half in an hour, half at 3 :p

    Have a nice day everyone!
