Hi Patchwork,
This is the recipe I use for the low fat ones, I got it from a SW magazaine years ago. They are really nice and freeze well but don't taste good as fried ones but then what does
Falafel

8oz dried chick peas (2 cans)
1 onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1 level tsp ground cumin
1 level tsp ground coriander
1 small red chilli, deseeded and finely chopped
1 tbsp chopped fresh coriander
2 tbsps chopped parsley
½ tsp baking powder
salt and freshly ground black pepper
Spray oil

- Soak chickpeas in cold water for 48 hours
- Drain the chick peas and then rinse well under cold running water.
- Blend chick peas with the onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, chilli and herbs.
- Add the baking powder and seasoning and stir well.
- Transfer to a bowl and chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
- Form into little balls between your hands then flatten them out slightly.
- Put falafel on a greased baking tray and cook 220C/425F/G7 for 12-15 mins.
- Serve immediately with natural yogurt flavoured with fresh mint and chilli.0 -
Yum Falafel - Thanks was looking for a non fried version
Today's lunch wasn't actually my soup (didn't fancy it) so I had a chargrilled chicken and red pepper pasta from MrT... and a rice crispie squares thingy.

Hi, all. May the force be with you for the bank holiday weekend!
Gunna did I miss something and you lost your doggle? I'm so sorry for you. We had to have our Kate put to sleep about three weeks ago. She was 15 and had collapsed in the garden, vet said she'd gone into organ failure. We knew it was coming, but still we weren't really prepared for it. God bless you. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
Well it started out well but then the kids went with their dad to the bakers and bought me a gingerbread man. Then the kids started baking and its "Mum try my biscuits and cakes" said excitedly. So I have to try them and it just seems to go to waste. Anyway I weighed myself yesterday and I had lost 2lbs. So I'm pleased with that.
B. was at 4am. I had porridge and mashed banana.
S. 2 crumpets.
L. Was fish and chips (daughter wanted fish and chips). Following Paul McKenna's principle I ate until I felt full and as a consequency left quite a lot on my plate.
S. Gingerbread man and 2 oat and raisin cookies.
D. Quorn and vegetable stirfry with noodles.
Exercise Walked 6.5 miles and ran half a mile.0 -
Congratulations to all who have lost, especially to Frogga for the 8 lbs!
To-day's menu has been:
B...banana;
L...2 poached eggs on toast, cappuccino;
D...Small pork chop, carrots, cabbage, peas, butternut squash, onion, baked potato, slice of fruit cake, coffee
Might have an apple later, although still feeling stuffed from dinner
Well done all

Very well done to all the losers. 8lb is not to be sniffed at frogga!
Was doing ok yesterday until OH got home - he'd had a few beers on the train from London and then got some more booze on the way home and a pizza. So I had 3-4 drinks and 2 slices of pizza. Then he was annoying me so i went to bed. Grrrr, was supposed to be my morning for a lie-in, and he said he would get up still, but as he didn't get to bed till 3am drunk as a skunk and madam wakes up at 5.30 I didn't feel right letting him have her. He's a lovely man, but drives me insane sometimes! Now there's a lovely day outside and he's probably going to spend most of it in bed with a hangover. Raaar!
Breakfast: fruit n fibre, banana
Lunch: mushroom soup

Good Morning Everyone, lovely day today! JoJoB -:mad: at your other half! I would put the radio and tv on loud, hoover, put the wash on and generally make as much noise as you can get away without it looking deliberate! :rotfl::rotfl: Before he gets up practice making innocent faces in the mirror:D
Had a good diet day yesterday and managed to do 5371 steps. I know it is not the 10,000 a day we are supposed to aim for but it is very good for me! The strange thing is that just by wearing the pedometer I actually feel like walking more just so I can see the numbers go up!:o For instance yesterday when I went to Tesco I parked in the far corner of the car park instead of trying for a place close to the entrance!
Today I am having:
B - bacon, egg, mushrooms and hash browns on a wholemeal wrap
s - banana
L - chicken salad
s - apple and orange
D - cottage pie but made with pork plus cabbage, leeks and carrots (does anyone know what to call this pie - I know cottage is with beef and shepards is with lamb)
s - toffee muller with banana and a dollop of 0% Total
Off to the park now and will walk further than normal:j:j!
Love

Well done Frogga!!!!!:T
and also well done any other losers:beer:
Well i have had another few stressful days of moving stuff about and phoning around, i have also had a sore back yesterday which made packing things up hard.
Anyway i think i have slipped more than normal:o
I had toast for brekkie yesterday but come lunchtime i was famished so had a toasted bagel and philly spread 1/2 a scotch egg and a yoghurt, then afternoon snacking of an orange and some Riesen choccy chews:rolleyes:
Finished off the day by treating ourselves to a Indian all you can eat buffet that we love, althou it fills me up quickly thanks goodness:rotfl:, i had a starter of salad and soem bhajis and meaty things, then a tiny main about 8 mouthfuls as i was full, 1 poppadom and some vanilla ice cream.
Today i have to concentrate hard an not let the munchy attacks start:cool:i caught myself drooling at some crisps yesterday when i had a coffee
Don't have a clue what i am having yet as i have to go out and might not have time for brekkie.
Dinner is a nice small fish pie, snacks are bananas, apples, grapes and yoghurts.
I am definately a lot thirstier of lately drinking oodles which isn't helping my bloat, although bread consumption is down somedays to perhaps one slice then other days it might be 4 slices.
I have just got so much to sort out it is making me feel a lot more snacky and everything healthy is yukky to me as my body wants some nice fats and sugar to calm it down:rolleyes:.
Good luck to everyone else keep thinking healthy thoughts:p:p0 -
