    evening all!

    just got back from work.
    Not too bad a day

    B - 2 small toast and marmalade

L - salmon fillet, veggies small mash parsley sauce

D - mackerel on 1 slice toast with salad and a bit of low cal mayo

snacks - 2 chocolates and 2 small biscuits.
    Highlights hot choc

    welcome to the newbies!

Marie - not heard from Frogga for ages - RS - have you heard from her? I emailed her but havent heard back.
    Do what you love :happyhear
  • Marion - that meatloaf sounds yummy so I am going to give it a go along with the bean soup.

Tappy - I speak to Frogga most days - she is fine, and has started again today like me. She is really busy with her new job and doesn't get on the computer as much now but I have asked her to join in again and she said she might....... hope she does.

Well my first day back on the wagon wasn't too bad, but I think my idea of general principles of SW, WW etc might need a re-think - today was okay though. I got very hungry about an hour ago and so had a bowl of cereal with skimmed milk and sweetner, which could have easily been buttered toast and jam so not too bad there!

For tea I had hm curry with some Batchelors savoury rice (mild curry one) and it was really really nice. For afters I had some winter fruit compote (bought at Christmas in M&S) with an Activia fat free vanilla yoghurt. The Activia fat free yoghurts are lovely! I think the savoury rice packets are good for me because I am really bad at portion control and tend to cook miles too much plain rice - but if I do a sachet of Batchelors - okay it isn't scratch as such, but I know that even if I eat all of it, it's not too bad.

Hi Le Foot - glad you are recovered and you will get that weight off in no time!

    Hi Chums,
have decided to be dedicated to losing some of the excess weight that I gained over the past 18 months.Want to get quite a bit off before the June 'Race for Life' at Blackheath. cetainly don't want to spend a fiver a week at WW's I am far too frugal for that. Owing to mobility problems I can actually swim better than I can walk, although that too has been on the 'back burner' for 18 months.I am going to get my pal to see if she can adapt my cossie's with a template as I am somewhat lop-sided now.mastectomy swimware costs a fortune.
wish me luck chums, first day tomorrow

P.S. put on almost 4 stone with steroids and chemo, so it's gotta go !!

  • The only things I have in which I am not sure what to do with are Qunioa, Cous cous (plain not the flavoured stuff) and bulghur wheat - has anyone got any nice recipes using these ingredients?

    Hi RS
I use bulghur wheat all the time, it's so quick to do and easy. You just add boiling water and leave it to soak. I use my smallest lidded saucepan, cover the bottom with the bulger (a little goes a long way) add the boiling water put the lid on and leave it. That's all. Not sure how long 20 mins perhaps, I try it should be like rice in texture, if there is any soaking liquid left I strain it. Then I use it as an alternative to rice, for stuffing peppers and always with a salad. For the salad add chopped toms, spring onions and if you have them, herbs, mint and parsley with lemon give you the classic tabouleh. My daughter likes it with pesto she got this idea from MS they use it with spinach, pine nuts and pesto and charge a fortune for a tiny tub. You can put it with any salad veg. I think cous cous is the same, just check the pack. As bulghur was the first one I tried haven't got round to doing the cous cous. Have tried it in prepared salads, has a smaller grain than the bulghur but very similar. Never cooked quinoa except in a bought meal - a veggie stew I think, it was fine not strong tasting. Do try them and let me know what you think.

    Hi all,

I'm still here holding it together. After finally shaking my Christmas cold I have now got an ear/throat infection instead, can't win can I?

At least the pain will stop me wanting to eat crisps and crackers!

B/L: 3 wholemeal toast with lemon curd

D: HM chilli chicken ramen soup

S: Probably nothing as we don't have anything in!

I really need to go shopping to get fresh stuff but I just don't feel up to it :(

Welcome to any newbies and well done to all the losers :)

Well I didn't have a good night painwise as the damp and cold play havoc with my bones, so by the time I got off to sleep it was around 3.ish.woke several times and eventually went into a deep sleep about 6.30 so have missed breakfast altogether.
I am just about to go and have some 'Light' baked beans on two slices of whole grain toast for my late lunch with a yogurt for pud

Dinner to night will probably be a jacket spud with Tuna and Sweetcorn and a celery salad.I have quite a bit of fresh salad in my fridge ,for pudding I shall have some fresh fruit, possibly a mix of plums, apple and a pear.I bought a big bag of reduced fruit on Wednesday from Mr T's.Its in excellant condition and I keep almost all of my fruit in my conservatory as its like a cold store out there, and fruit lasts for ages as opposed to indoors where it goes off too quickly in the warm.
feeling fairly virtuous at the moment, lets hope it lasts.
