Background is I cycle to work so cycle 4 miles 4 times a week. I don't drive so cycle to get my shopping and cycle back with it on the bike. I am very busy person and always up to something, running around after people etc and consider myself quite active........................................ He said i could have toned up in my shoulders and legs, but put on weight in other areas - as he eyed up my stomach. He asked have i ever considered joining a gym as he looked me up and down.
Thanks in advance . Zip.
Hello Zippy, I don't know much about BMI and all that other fancy dancy gym stuff but what I do know is BS when I smell it.:o I would get on your bike and ride away from that gym. IMHO they are scaremongering in an effort to get people to sign up - obviously the credit crunch is affecting their business!
Go and see your GP, explain what they told you at the gym and ask his advice. Your exercise levels sound amazing, you have lost weight already, with a common sense approach to eating you will be just fine - without paying a fortune to the gym!:T

Newlywed I think you are onto something with the starvation. Trying to think of a typical days food but it varies so much.
yesterday was a bad example as I had pizza from Sunday take out but ill do a couple of days worth.
Today 1 pack crisps, HM granary bread with Soft boiled egg, bacon from yesterdays sandwich and a scrape of mayo and low flora. Have a banana with me. For dinner will have HM soup from freezer - lentils and potatoes so no bread
Typical day - cous cous with chicken etc or an egg/tuna sandwich. Bulked up with dried nuts, use the smallest amount of mayo i can use and avoidd butter. This would be bkfst lunch. Dinner can be baked pots. I loosely follow SW so try to only eat 2 rounds bread a day, one portion cheese etc. So if i have bread for dinner, not for lunch and vice versa. Made dinner the other night was corn beef hash with not even a whole small tin of CB, pots, tomato, carrot and cheese. Split the hash with my brother. Did put some butter in. Fried egg and beans - again thats along SW style so i maye should just follow it- thinking out loud......
I think the better my cooking gets, the worse my body fat suffers as Ive recently learnt baking and stuff and creamy sauces which i couldnt have done before:rotfl:
I only allow one coffee a day as affect sleep badly, but i have become a bit addicted to sugar free juice? Don't always have to eat meat and try to get a good balance of pulses etc.
I think it's more the lack of food though - I clean all day Fridays from 930-330 and usually only have bananas to keep me going so I guess thats bad. Today for eg, i have only eat half my sandwich so far. I should eat fruit first but im not enjoying it yet IYKWIM.
I feel silly not knowing the OS diet was cooking from scratch, i do that anyway! I did read first post but didn't quite get the jist
Retiredlady - no offence taken in the slightest. I think you are right, I just feel foolish i didnt see it. I left the place in tears and totally cut to bits. people have been telling me how well i look and think i have lost weight (exactly same on scales but smaller size), but he just trampled all over it . I was just starting to get some confidence back weight wise, and he undid that with his raised eyebrows, sneaky looks at my stomach and basically telling me I was anhealthy fatty. Sorry if it seems like a life story, i just think it's all relevant if I want advice. Think I will read this thread for a couple of days and get the jist etc:AA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Afternoon All,
Well, I've been banned from using the scalesAfter my 5lb weight loss I stupidly decided to jump back on them only for me to see that they went straight back up to my starting weight :rotfl: So basically Im a little disheartened again... :rotfl:
B: Musli
L: Fruit and will have something else in a bitBroccoli, cauliflower, carrots, peas, new pots and a yorkshire pudding.
S: Fruits (undecided which ones yet  )0 -
Hi Zippy and Welcome to our lovely group :hello:
I have to say that I agree with RetiredLady- The credit crunch is biting hard and I bet he was only thinking of himself keeping his job!
I can't see how you can be that "bad" as your diet isn't that bad and the exercise you get is much more than most.... I also agree that NW is right when she says that your body is probably going into starvation- You are going for such a long time between meals and then eating only a small amount. I have personally taken the "constantly eating" approach and am reaching for fruit constantly so I don't really get hungry- although wether it seems to be working or not is debatable :rotfl:0 -
pnq - I put a new battery in the scales yesterday... and am seriously debating putting the old battery back in again :rotfl:
zippy - how about making it a goal to eat a small healthy breakfast before you leave for work. Then having your lunch split up as usual?
Apparently if you eat small meals every 3-4 hours then it helps keep up your metabolism.
And I completely agree about not enjoying fruit - I enjoy expensive fruit  At the moment I'm on Packham pears (the only type I like and I only like them when they are still crunchy) and sainsbugs frozen dark cherries, sometimes a nana or sometimes pineapple.
I love fresh cherries, white rainham cherries (really expensive from M&S), white nectarines (expensive and not about often), strawberries, fresh lychee, grapes sometimes and sometimes pineapple .... and the rest I can really take or leaveI used to spend about £40 a week in M&S just on fruit and fruit juice... pre MSE days and all on the credit card of course
If I have oats for breakfast I tend to have a bit of honey and sliced banana in it to up my fruit intake, or if I make it as porridge I'll have raisins and cinnamon or else frozen berries.
This week, my treat is frozen dark cherries from M&S (last week it was a mini milky way if I went for a walk) - I like them still frozen from the freezer. (Excluding the fact that I went in the bakers today after the MOT and bought a fruit loaf
)
Other than that, I try and eat lots of vegworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Newlywed, I'm the same about fruit. I don't really eat critus and apples hurt my teeth and taste ok. Love pineapple, cherries, blackberries, strawbs, kiwi etc! Trying also not to buy fruit and waste it.
I struggle with mornings really badly, and can just about get into work for 1030 , so that's why I don't eat brekkie cause I'm always rushing. I can get up and out of the house in 15 mins max! If i brought cereal to work, i would go straight for lunch every timeCould i freeze smoothies and take out of freezer into fridge night before? Then it would be cold to take to work? I need something that doesnt involve much fuss but is filling, nutritional and starts me off well.
i think I know what I need to do, i just need to do it really. Do so much appreciate all advice. More wlecome.A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

:rotfl: Why do scales have to be sooooo mean- My OH is trying to tell me that perhaps I have gained muscle... Not sure how as I haven't started exercising yet :rotfl:
Zippy I think NW is very right in what she's saying... Good Luck :T0 -
zippy I often eat jumbo oats soaked overnight in a little water (coz I don't like milk) and then in the morning I grab it from the fridge put sliced nana on top and eat. Only takes 5 mins.
I think if you make smoothie in the evening and just keep in the fridge it should be ok the next morning shouldn't it? I think yoghurt/milk ones might separate a bit if you freeze them but I've never tried so sure someone will have some tips...working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
