Hi Jo Jo and Tapsy,
Thanks for your replies. DO you really think I'm eating too much carbs? I'm only having 2 bits of bread and a jacket potatoThat's not too much surely?

plus ryvita, hot cross bun, muesli bar, beans, muesli.
They are certainly not the worst carbs though and we do need some in our diet - I wouldn't say you are eating too many exactly, just that maybe the proportion could change a tad if you are looking at changing anything at all. Like maybe a soup or salad instead of sandwich at lunchtime.
Hark at me with the weightloss tips.

frogga this is where science comes in.
same as managing the budget.
energy in has to be less than energy out for weight loss.
look at the energy density of what you are eating
protein and carbohydrate have the same kcal per gram (4)
alcohol has 7, fat has 9
maybe its the butter on the bread?
also, if you could be bothered to eat enough lettuce, you could gain weight eating just that...how boring it would be!
we know you can do it, hop off and plan your comeback. Ribbit! Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
gratefulforhelp's right. There's no magic about losing weight - if the amount of energy coming in through food is less than the amount going out in exercise then you'll lose weight. If it isn't you won't. We all know that really, it's achieving it with today's refined foods that's so difficult. Our cavewoman ancestors never had a problem!;)
Frogga, vegetables may be healthy to eat, but they contain a lot of calories - and a lot of carbs. They are fattening! As with everything else, you have to watch the quantities. It's impossible for us to say if you are eating too much, but your body seems to be telling you that you are eating slightly more than it needs if you're going to lose weight.
Your food intake sounds extremely high in carbs and extremely low in protein. Protein suppresses the appetite a bit, as well as being harder for your body to convert into fat. I'd try making sure that your vegetables include a good helping of nuts, peas, beans, lentils, chickpeas etc. at each meal - and try to cut the quantities gradually.
I've cut portion sizes very gradually - I probably only eat two-thirds of what I did five years ago, but because I did it so slowly I've never been left feeling hungry. I'm losing weight very, very slowly (about ten pounds over two years) but because it's slow I'm fairly confident it'll stay off. Don't give up hope!If we are supposed to be thin, why does chocolate exist?0 -
Thanks for all your replies  but I must say I'm even more confused than ever now
you are nice chums though so I aint cross
Firstly, I don't have butter so it aint that!and if it's cause I'm eating too much veg then how come on SW and those kinds of diet veg is unlimited?? and as for the protein the nutritionalist at the hospital said mine was 'perfect' (well, we know I am anyway don't we
) as I AM having protien at every meal! I AM having nuts, beans, chickpeas et.c and soya milk and yogs. and lentils!
RS said that even the little binge I had last night would have made my liver heavy or something (it got complicated so I switched off!) so that might have accounted for it. ALso my other friend said that I must keep going as sometimes you loose nothing for a few weeks then lots the next week.
So thanks Tappy, JoJo, agapanthus and grateful but you're all useless as you're all telling me something different and now my little brain acheswhere's my Gran? She'll talk sense...

Frogga STEP AWAY FROM THE SCALES!!!
You know it doesn't do you any good to weigh more than once a month!
I can be 3lbs heavier somedays than I was the day before and that's after a 'good' day so carry on as you are, you are a (self-confessed) fussy eater and a vegan to boot so eat what you think is best for you.
It is harder as you get older, you might only be 36 but you're older than you were in your 20's IYKWIMand you have lost a good bit already.
Now, carry on and do NOT weigh again until the end of April0 -
and another thing...
I've been rereading the 'Skinny !!!!!' book and it has a whole chapter on carbs called 'carbs ~ the thruth' and it basicaly goes on and on about it being nonsense eating a low carb diet ( not the crappy ones though, the bread, pots and veg ones) and I swear I'm not lying but the last line of the chapter says...
so shout it from the rooftops until everyone of your dumb-!!!, misinformed friends hears : YOU CAN EAT BREAD AND FRUIT!

:kisses3: Hi Rocks
Yes you're SO right!!! I wish I hadn't hopped on the scales. RS made me do it! Well, not really but I'd rather have someone else to blame. I'm NOT getting on again until 1st May. Even if RS drags me onI must say though I don't know where you get the idea that I am fussy
I don't recognise that at all
