Hello everyone and welcome newbies! I had a bit of traumatic day yesterday much like Vixtress (hope ds is okay now BTW). I went to A&E at 8.30 am with DD1 - she's 18 and suddenly lost loads of blood from her back passage which terrified her and me! The out of hours GP sent us straight to A&E and we went and they said they couldn't find anything on examination and told us to go to the GP on Monday for referral to a gastroenterologist. We got home at about 2 and had only been home for about half an hour when the doctor from A&E rang up and said we had to go back there immediately because there was a problem with one of DD's blood results. We went back up in a panic and they kept us waiting 3 hours:mad: in the triage area before telling us that they thought it was a lab error and to proceed as planned and go to the GP on monday! She is still not well today and has loads more blood and I am really worried about her, particularly as the doctor said that he couldn't see any piles... Anyway as a result of this yesterday's eating was rubbish. We were all those hours in the hospital and so I had only a bag of crisps and some M&M's from the vending machine, so when we got in at 6 ish I ate all kinds of stuff which I shouldn't.:o So today I am back on the wagon and have had two pieces of wholemeal bread with some grilled low fat bacon and tomatoes on for breakfast. I have got a cooked chicken in the fridge, together with some brocolli bake from Friday and I have lots of veg and fruit so I will cobble something together with that lot. Although I ate rubbish last night I still feel quite positive about my diet and don't feel like carrying on eating carp today, even though I am really worried about DD1 - that is progress of sorts because worrying usually makes me eat for Britain!

I am thinking of making Marion's rice pudding thingie today - I only have Mullerlight vanilla choc chip yoghurts in - do you think they would go alright with the rice, or am I better to wait until I get some fruity ones? I don't want to waste another pudding after the quinoa disaster the other night!

Anyway hope you are all having a good Sunday - the weather here is lovely and bright and not too cold today, which always makes things seem more cheery!

Crikey Jane, you and your poor daughter have had a night and a half! Hope she gets this resolved quickly.
I have done the rice thingie with the vanilla choc chip yogurt - it was lovely! I did have some strawberries that I slice into it but it would be just as good without them.

    Love
    Marion

    Afternoon folks :hello:

I've spent the morning cooking! Nipped into Sainsbugs after I dropped OH at the lotty this morning and got loads of 'whoopsies' :j This has meant I've had to completely re-hash my meal planner for this week and I've decided to go with 'Healthy eating' rather than SW for this week

Today I've had mushrooms and egg on toast for brekkie and a hummus and beetroot sandwich on granary bread for lunch *followed by a HM choc chip cookie still warm from the oven*

Tea will be butternut squash and spinach lasagne followed by HM yoghurt.

:grouphug: RS and daughter, hope you both feel better soon.

Audrey Hepburn - my OH eats veggie with me most of the time but he has meat/fish in the freezer (got him loads of whoopsies this morning) for when I'm having stuff he's not keen on. I have a couple of pans/dishes that are only used for his meaty cooking, he never puts weight on so eats the same as me but bigger portions and always has a huge pudding!

Thriftlady - step away from the kitkats ;)

    See you tomorrow folks :A

I have had a look but I can't find an OS slimmers thread - but please merge if I have missed it.

I am trying to lose weight but love my food way too much. Don't get me wrong I know what is good to eat and what will make me put on weight but I would love to see what everyone else's meal plans are for this week - I need some inspiration for low fat food.

I have only got as far as tomorrow:

Breakfast: Porridge with banana (first time I will have made it so hopefully it is nice ;)
Lunch: Homemade marmalade on toast, and an apple
Dinner: Jacket potato with ham, cheese and beans

My low point is when I am making the kids tea, so if I get desperate I will have some mini snack a jacks - they are lovely and take longer to eat than most other things.

Will walk to school tomorrow (both ways) and now I have written all this down I will actually do it.

So what are your meal plans this week?

And what do you do when the cravings are really strong?

I will also do an hour's walking and go to the gym. Here's to a good Monday!!

Breakfast - Oatmeal with Vanilla Protien Powder, sunflower seeds and a yogurt.
Snack - Smoothie Made with Yogurt/milk / flax / Protien Powder / banana and strawberrys
Lunch - Beef/Lentil Chilli, brown Rice
Snack - Protien Shake + Kiwi + Almonds
Snack - 2 Rice Cakes with Chicken and Cucumber + Pear.
Dinner - Steamed Chicken and Broccolli with SweetPotato
Snack - Natural Yogurt + Scoop of protien whey.

Not exactly the most insperational meal plan haha but it serves it's purpose.. 12 weeks till comp.. need to shed the fluff.

    Gym - 45mins - Biceps and Core

I don't really get many cravings, generally i've found i only get cravings when i've cut my calories down to harshly. I do occasionally get sweet cravings, bit of sugerfree jelly usually sorts it though.

Thanks Tara - I now have my meal plan for Tuesday :) Sounds lovely. Will check out that thread too.

leiela, how do you get away without cravings??? They are my downfall - maybe I cut myself back too much some days. I think perhaps a better lunch might be the way to go. As much as I love my homemade marmalade on toast, it doesn't really seem to last me very long.

leiela, what protein powder do you use? I have seen it in H&B (the protein/spirulina stuff) and was thinking of trying it, protein does leave me fuller for longer. What typebrand do you recommend?

    What competition are you doing?

lbt - I think you do need a more substantial lunch, some protein would be beneficial...

haha without getting into took much technical crap, im a figure athlete which means im pretty much a proffesional dieter 'im well trained at manipulating my body.

Cravings are less about lack of willpower than people think, they are your body's way of telling you your doing something wrong, work out what that is and your golden.. alot of commonly ate foods actually cause cravings because of the way they manipluate your bloodsuger.

Baring in mind your talking to someone who can tell the the exact macro breakdown of every item that has entered her mouth for the last 12 months.. and to quote my dear olde mum "can eat like a robot" , atm im easing into this phase of my diet in 12 weeks my meals won't resemble "food" as most people know it.. haha.

I use True Whey, its got a few flavors ive gone made this month and bought the raspberry one which i haven't tried before haha.

I can only come into this from my own perspective, baring in mind i hardly represent the "traditional dieter".

However it's a proven fact that if you cut cals too harshly your body will "hang on to fat" which is never any dieters intention, becaue you crash your metabalism, and while i wouldn't recomend the average person intakes as much protien as i do making sure you get a small dose in every meal can help stabalise bloodsuger levels and fight off the hunger monster.

However this biggest hidden secret about "hunger" actually comes down to FAT.. most people thing fats are evil but not only do our bodys need fat but eating fat is the single best way of stopping cravings, even when im like 1-2 weeks out from a comp i eat fat with every meal to keep the hunger monster at bay.
