Morning all.
Well I weighed and have still STS  suppose its better than gaining but this plateau business is hard going when motivation is thin on the ground
Welcome Thriftlady and Snuggle wishing you every success with your weightloss journey :T
We have people over tonight so I made dessert, tarte aux fruits all made from scratch which was a bit daunting as I have never made creme pattisserie or all butter pastry before (usually just use basic shortcrust with no egg or sugar as the fillings are sweet). It looks good so far, just have to assemble and glaze it later then resist the urge to cut a huge slab :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
B/L: Toast with marmaladeVeggie curry with boiled rice and a slice of fruit tart
Trying not to snack today to minimise the pie-damage
Hmmmmm lent is an interesting prospect, I like the idea of giving up bread over lent but I'm not so sure of the reality as its cheap and filling. I will have a think
Have a fab weekend all, the sun is shining here and all is well0 -
Room for 1 more?
At 14 stone and five foot four I need to lose at about 3 stone.
The extra weight did not appear overnight and I know it will take at least 6 months to lose!
I have just decided to try a vegan diet after many years as a veggie and hope that cutting cheese, chocolate - yup I know there are vegan chocolates but do not want to go there - and biscuits from my life will stop the sugar fest which has piled on weight.
I have done the research and got the basic information of how to cover my calcium, vitamin and protein requirements :-)
Diet will be good old fashioned "cook it yourself" wholefoods - I have always done old style cooking - just eaten too much of it, especially the home baking.
Puss and Husband will be staying carnivore!
Best wishes to all

good morning to you all
well i am having a VERY rare chilled out lie in :j :j the kids are staying with a friend and OH has gone to some judo coaching thingy.
we went out for curry last night and it wasnt disasterous. had a lovely prawn starter which unfortunately was deep fried (didnt realise when i ordered) i then got tandoori fish which was, i'm sure better than curry but cooked with peppers, mushrooms and probably a fair bit of oil. nice though and i didnt feel too bloated to sleep like i often do from curry
sooo i am still on the wagon today, will have to be careful at lunchtime, am out for a meal when i meet up with the kids.
well done floyd and lainz for sts...its better than a gain/
well done frogga and RS on not binging, sounds like you have got a good support system going there
not sure about the lent thing, last year i gave up bread, it was more a personal challenge than a religous thing. it was the first time i have ever given anything up for lent and I DID IT! the only day i had off was mothers day in the middle, (i read somewhere that thats a tradition)
not sure about this year, i think snacking (other than fruit) may be a good one. dont think i could do sugar (think wine and green & blacks  )
have a few days to think about it so we'll se.
no menu plan for today other than the usual wm toast for breaskfast.
have a lovely day- prior planning prevents poor performance!

welcome Audrey hepburn!! have you checked out the 'os vegan' thread. its a fab thread. i am in no way vegan (or even veggie) but i still like to lurk and pick up some healthy tips.
i have a similar goal (and start weight to you) i have lost about 10lb just by cutting down and being sensible, i still have a long way to go but i'm not rushing with it...slow and steady. 6 or so months is about my thinking too.
good luck!- prior planning prevents poor performance!

Good Morning.
Late again, have been reading the Sat papers and trying to decide what to do with my day.
Hi Audrey welcome, I'm a veggie of 23 years, aspiring vegan but can't give up dairy yet.
Hi Thriftlady Your salad sounds yummy.
Frogga - yes please to the photo (signed of course.) I think using Lent is a great motivational idea but what shall I go without, chocs - not too bad lately, crisps (my secret vice,) sugar - what ALL sugar? Sweets - wonder if I can get boss to agree to no sweets in office for Lent? Coffee, alcohol. How hard should it be, too hard and I give in too easily conversely, too easy and what's the point. We have 'till Tues to decide I think, doesn't Lent start on Wednesday?
Bfast cereal,
lunch salad - have some watercress to use up so will make a cous cous thingy.
Dinner will involve brown rice, veggies, beans.WL 11 st 5lb as at 050109. 160209 11st 2lb

Morning all
1lb off so far this week for me.
Weight loss to date - 8st 13lbs :j0 -
Many thanks for the warm welcome everyone :-)
I agree the Vegan thread is inspirational - I have already checked out the pasrsleysoup link and found great new recipes.
I am hoping soya milk will hit the spot for dairy in tea and cereal.
I uses a lot of beans and pulses for low fat carbohydrates and protein.
The problem with "veggie" is you can end up eating a lot of fat from cheese and nuts when you are really after protein. ( not true for me, I just scoffed too many homemade flapjacks and scones! )
Dried marrowfat peas and yellow split peas are my favourites - I prefer their texture and flavour to lentil and they are half the price.
Lentils are about £1.95 for 500g now, yellow split peas are just 50p for the same amount. The dried peas have about 22g of protien per 100g and around 350 cals. Nuts have about the same protein but 600 cals.
I use the split yellow peas the most as they cook fastest.
I weigh out 150g of them and soak in water overnight.
Drain and rinse then add enough fresh water to cover them by about 2cm , bring to the boil and simmer for about 30 mins.
I add about 1/4 of a stock cube - must check for veganess now and chilli powder, cumin and mustard seeds, plus some garlic puree.
You can leave the mixture thick and use it to top pasta ,jacket spud or as a dip with toasted pita bread - or add more water and puree to serve as soup.
Anyhoo - I am aiming for 1350 cals a day and 2 litre of water.Plan is:
oats with soya milk
fruit
split peas with wholemeal pita bread
soya milk
homemade soya burgers with spud and green veg0 -

I've always struggled with my weight. I blame my mother lol -well I do, she was never as strict with me as I am with my kids. She'd always give in to my 'can I have another?'. I rarely let my lot have more than one muffin, biscuit or whatever. I sometimes wish I had a strict someone watching over what I eat, someone to say NO MORE! But I know I need to take responsibility for what put in my mouth.
Take the blooming kitkats I bought yesterday cos they were half price (packet of 16) and way cheaper than the 3 x 35g bars of Green & Blacks I was going to treat the kids with -I ate 3 kitkats as I was tidying the kitchen before going to bed:rolleyes: If only I'd bought the G&B bars the kids would have been happy and there'd be nothing left for me to binge on. Lesson learnt;)
When I was 23 (20 years ago) I went on a diet -1000 cals a day. I lost about 4 stone and got down to 9 stone 4lb. It was fantastic, the best feeling in the world.
I met OH when I was at my slimmest and ever since I've been getting bigger -poor OH lol. Three pregnancies haven't helped and during my second I reached 16 stone. After my third child was born I managed to lose quite a bit and by the time she was 2 (7 years ago) I was about 12 st 7lb. I can't remember how I did it thoughI was half-heartedly doing WWs I think.
Thing is I really hate counting-cals, points whatever.
I absolutely love reading about food, I have tons of cookbooks and I read them every evening whilst watching telly. I love planning what I'm going to cook, shopping for food and I also hate throwing good food away.
I also cook for a family which makes it much harder don't you think? When I first lost weight I was just cooking for myself. I cut right down on fat and didn't bake at all and it was easy (I also wasn't drinking alcohol). Now though, I don't want to put my kids on a low-fat diet, they have no problems with their weight, DD is underweight if anything. I'm certainly not going to cook myself separate meals. I can cut back on the baking as the kids can snack on fruit, bread and popcorn.
My plan of action then is this;
1) Alcohol on 3 days a week instead of 4-5 (sometimes 7:o )
2) No snacks except fruit
3) More fruit and veg -fill plate half full with veg.
4) Smaller portions of everything except fruit & veg.
5) Stop eating when full.0 -
Welcome Audrey, Loved you in Roman Holiday. DO you really need to loose 3 stone? YOu were always so slim, what happened? Pressure of Hollywood? Good luck anyway. I'm a Vegan too
Afternoon Thrifty :hello: Isn't it funny how we can look back on our lives and see things now that we never could see then!
When I was 15-16ish my Mum took me to the GP cos I was eating really badly and he weighed me and said "Could you try really hard to get up to 7 stone?" I thought " 7 stone!! I'll be the size of an elephant!"
I've had an issue with food for 20 years now and I never seem to have been a normal weight. I'm either really thin or way too fat! I have lost more than 10 st 3 times  This is absolutely gonna be the last time!
So my 5 point plan for the next week is
1) Continue with the 3 meals 3 snacks malarky as it is working
2) Make SURE I walk the hounds EVERYDAY (a proper 3 mile walk, none of this quick jaunt across the field excuse for a walk)
3) SLOW DOWN when eating my meals :EasterBun
4) Try to stop wishing my life away ( I've become obsessed with looking at the callendar and trying to work out how thin I'll be by such and such a date
5) Make more of an effort with my appearence as it makes me feel so much better when I do
As for the lent thing, I've changed my mind about no sugar. That would mean no soya pud in the eve and no chooy on Friday night. I'm doing well at the moment and with my mind in the delicate state it's in , I don't want to start going all strict and stuff. That leads to bingeingSo I'll give up bingeing for Lent and as I've been doing that already for nearly 3 weeks that should be easy
RIght, off to get the washing in and put the pigs away, have a good rest of Saturday peepsSay it once, say it loud ~ I'm an Atheist, Anti-Royalist, Socialist, Tea-Total Veggie Frog and PROUD!:D
