Does it matter when you apply for it seen as though it isn't paid until April? I mean is there a specific slot you have had to have applied for it by?0

Hi again
I got the form and completion notes at my 18 week checks on Friday. They are dated April 2009. Apparently I was the first mum-to-be who had asked for a form and midwife said she'd spotted them in the hospital day unit office just that day and took it upon herself to put one in her work bag. Didn't sound as though they'd had much notification about the whole HiPG and system!
She knew she wasn't to sign it until my 25 week check, but suggested I take it away and fill it in so it was ready for her to sign next time (this would be a really good idea - you couldn't feasibly complete it all correctly and have her check and sign it within your check-up appointment slot at 25 weeks).
Some snippets from the form completion notes, which may answer some of the queries so far in this post:
You are entitled if you live in main home in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland AND have a right to reside here under UK or EC law.
OR
you're a Crown Servant or part of a Crown Servant family posted overseas
OR
you've come to live in the UK and intend to make your home here
You can still be treated as living in the UK if you go abroad from time to time on holiday or on business
Payment is made straight into bank or building society account.
Once signed by midwife or doctor, HM Customs must receive your form within 31 days and actual payments begin from 6th April (although you can apply any time from now, as soon as you're 25 weeks). Presumably this allows for a gradual increase in their paperwork to be managed as increasing numbers of women become aware and eligible. You are given a second class postage paid envelope to return the form to HM Customs.
Hope this extra info helps - just post a question if you want me to check anything else on the forms.

it goes on your due date, not when the baby arrives. So unfortunatly, I don't think you can claim
My due date is 7th April, so I can just about claim!

If your midwife or doctor does not have a claim form please call the Health in Pregnancy Grant Helpline on Tel 0845 366 7885.
You can also get the claim form in large print by calling the Health in Pregnancy Grant Helpline on Tel 0845 366 7885.

My friend who is pg didn't know anything about this. She's just lost her job so was very happy when I mentioned it to her. Thanks OP.0
