Morning ladies
I got my February 'Pregnancy and Birth' magazine yesterday and they had a small feature on this grant, (first I knew about it!) but didn't give it by name - and they got the 'direct.gov' website wrong, so not that helpful, but have done some googling...
To get the info 'from the horses mouth', here is the correct link to the government's direct.gov campaign website:
http://campaigns.direct.gov.uk/money4mum2be/
You can apply from 25 weeks of pregnancy and there is a helpful feature on there where you enter your email / mobile details and then get a reminder notification when you're eligible to apply:

Claim forms are available from your midwife / healthcare professional from 1 January, but once they've signed it, you only have 31 days to get it back to HMRC, so be careful not to ask for the form too early. I'll have to wait a few weeks to apply myself, but the £190 is paid into a bank account from 6th April 2009, so sounds as though some of you further advanced pregnant ladies can start pestering for those forms ASAP.
Might be useful to print off that direct.gov webpage and take to your midwife appointment - I'll bet 'the system' means some NHS local services won't know anything about these claim forms or process!
Good luck to all!

Finally I have found some current information on HMRC's website
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/si/2008-3108-3109-em.pdf
I have also seen my midwife, who advises me that she will have the forms from 1 Jan'09.
Thanks to everyone's replys
Goodluck for those of you that are already pregnant or trying to get pregnant
