Suesie: I hope your head is better this morning. Perhaps the enforced bed-rest has done you good. You do seem to get up very early.
Casabiosca: Are (were) you Acecard on Moneysupermarket? Just glanced through and they would like you to join them on Yahoo Icesurvivors group.
Congratulations to all who see the colour of their money today. Not in my account yet. Hopefully tomorrow (fingers crossed).
Yes, I know, but I cannot seem to join. Going round in circles. Every time I try it asks me to create a public profile first which I do, then again and again ad nauseum. I would be happy to join now that I don't have to put up with the manic moderator. I wonder what he will find to do with his time now? Possibly kick a few cats down his local alley, I suppose.0 -
Does anyone know the anawer to this one.....My ISA icemoney is in mu current accoutn and not earning any interest. I hav emade enquires to NR who I have another account with, and aksed if its ok to transfer it to them and then inot one of their ISA's when I get the certificate. The lady said I should wait beccause by moving it into a normal savigns accoutn and then into an ISA may invalidate the terms if teh FSCS repayment..what do you think peeps??
Suesie. your ISa money can be anywhere you like before moving it into an ISA proper when you get the certificate. But I am pretty sure you wiill only be able to transfer the amont stated by the FSCS and not any interest you have accrued in the meantime.0 -

hi guys, better late than never :j
nice to see all these familiar faces
it's getting very confusing out there...a lot of us have now got our dosh & want it tucked away safely in a new ISA. well, you can't!
it seems were all getting a different story from various institutions & whoever you speak to on the day
i think the consensus is that you can (possibly) open a new ISA, but it can't be funded until the Certificate is sent.
i've just read that the Halifax have told someone the funds MUST come from Icesave! that's not happening anytime soon...
if you're trying to get a fixed rate, you've got XX no. of days to get your certificate in before you lose the higher rate - so that's hoping FSCS will be efficient in sending them out eh? hmmm
have a good day everyone
p.s. for info -
my claim was 25.11.08, funds in bank 28th Nov
OH claim was 26.11.08, funds in bank 1st Dec0 -

Hi gang, so this is where it's all at now!
Been busy researching potential ISA homes, my experience to date:
25th Nov initiation (late), received 1st December into my Nationwide current a/c and immediately transferred into corresponding e-saver at just over 3%. Not a fortune, but better than a slap in the face with a wet kipper.
Natwest seemed to be offering attractive rates for cash ISA transfers with a cash bonus of 2%, reduced to 1.75% in November with further reductions promised from 1st December.
So I hastened down to local branch on Saturday 29th and opened an ISA a/c with £1, explaining the Icesave situation and need to wait for funds and Certificate, taking statement print-offs with me as evidence.
Natwest lass trotted out the Company line abt transfers only being accepted on receipt of the Certificate, and then at the prevailing rate, but photocopied my evidence and date-stamped them should Management take the extenuating circs into account and agree to pay pre-Dec rates once cash and certificate received.
Feel I've done all I could to secure the best deal, and now await the outcome once cert received. Meanwhile, my ISA dosh has once again hit the interest trail after 2 months' starvation! :j :j :j
BTW, is that the Cat & Fiddle on the Buxton-Macclesfield road? Used to take an evening ride over there on my Hetchins via Hazel Grove, Whaley Bridge and Buxton, back home via Macclesfield and Prestbury. And on 72" fixed wheel, (but on 18-year old legs!).
Happy days!0 -

Agreed, my understanding too.0 -
Sorry guys, I seem to be monopolising the thread with a string of recent posts. Almost forgot to mention that my funds for three accounts, easyaccess, ISA, and a fixed rate which I chose to cash in, have all successfully reached First Direct this morning. I initiated at 00:30 last Thursday.
I was expecting them to arrive today but became somewhat anxious when my text message which would normally alert me to large transactions failed to arrive at the normal time of around 06:30. It arrived eventually at 07:30.
Iceland certainly like to prolong the agony and now we have to put up with their bloody weather,
Good luck to everyone still waiting.:j0
