  • Morning all, from a Glasgow based Icesave veteran. Plenty of decent watering holes up here, but a bit off the beaten track for most of you, I guess.

I'm celebrating this morning because both my and Mrs M's ISA cash is now safely back in our bank accounts.

When I think back to that dreadful Tuesday back in early October when I thought I'd been responsible for losing her money as well as mine, I still shudder. So, despite all the strange processes they've convulated, and with empathy and understanding to all those still waiting, I'd just like to say thank you to everyone involved in getting our money back after the Icelandic authorities stole it.

Thank you FSCS, and especially to the Chancellor and the Prime Minister for reassuring us so quickly. I'm not a particular supporter of Mr Brown et al, but I have to say they were brilliant about this. Both our ISAs were within the amount that was the reponsibility of the Iceland authorities and we could have lost everything.

The only slight cloud in the sky is that I had actually submitted ISA transfer forms to Northern Rock for their 6% fixed rate product. They've written to me saying that if I send them the money and the ISA certificate by 07 December then they'll honour the rate. Doesn't seem likely that I'll get the certificate in time. Still, I'm grateful to have the money back.

    Bye from Glasgae

    M

Suesie: I hope your head is better this morning. Perhaps the enforced bed-rest has done you good. You do seem to get up very early.

Morning all. Is there anyone who claimed before last Wednesday still waiting for receipt of my money? Im assuming not. I claimed on Thursday and expect to see the funds in my account tomorrow but am a little nervous that they could be delayed and will not be there to meet the cheques I have subsequently issued.

Hopefully I can really feel like a veteran tomorrow rather than still being a little anxious  .

I hav emade enquires to NR who I have another account with, and aksed if its ok to transfer it to them and then inot one of their ISA's when I get the certificate. The lady said I should wait beccause by moving it into a normal savigns accoutn and then into an ISA may invalidate the terms if teh FSCS repayment..what do you think peeps??

I claimed Thursday too but I was thinking it would arrive in my account on Wed but I would obviously be happy if it's Tuesday! :)

Does not make any sense to me either, the FSCS have already moved it into another account anyway, Inland Revenue are going to be aware of the situation and I assume will have an understanding that savings will be moved about a bit before they get back to a valid ISA.
