December 2nd. Snow outside. Feeling rather unsettled for some reason.
About to go to work but just checking out progress. Online banking shows a payment gone against an interest free loan - if my calculations are correct that means the leather sofa and chair are now ALL OURS! Account paid. Must double check that it is December not January but am pretty sure that is one off the list. :T

Today is a catch up day - will do that list and those reports. Will try to make some progress on other work that is piling up. Probably not much time for debt busting but I shouldn't need to spend much except bus fare and a couple of urgent (within budget) grocery items. Am going to start the cash pots today too.

Hope everyone has a good day. Talk later.

Ooooh - OH has just presented me with a cheque for £240 - fees for extra work she did - woohoo. Will pay that in today and when it clears it goes straight off the CC. :T

Now - apropos of nothing - does anyone live in or around Liverpool or the Wirral? Just trying to identify nice areas in that part of the world...

Thanks edinburgher - will try that - and maybe sugar too.... (then again - that includes chocolate doesn't it?)
  • Hi mizmir & thanks for making me so welcome.

Well done on paying of your settee....i bet it feels a lot more comfortable now it yours! :rotfl:

My plan is to basically move all our debt (cc 1 £4911-08,cc2 £306-42 & car loan £3136) onto 0% cards from Halifax which are both on a 10month deal. Both our current CCs will be charging interest from next month 16.9 & 15.9 so we needed to make the switch asap. I'm just waiting for my card to come and DH paperwork to be signed. Hoepfully BT will be done before next pay day.

The only thing I'm not sure about is the car loan - it's 13.6% do you think I shoud transfer that debt too? I know it would save money on the settlement and the interest, but it's a bit scary transferring it all onto credit cards. I think we need to bite the bullet and then it's got to be paid off.

Better go and sort the girl's bedroom out... children are sooooo messy!
Nearly debt free....at last Roll on July 2010

Good news about the BT to 0% :T. re. the car loan - if you are realistically able to clear the card before the 0% deal runs out then do it - unless you'll get stung by charges by the loan company for early settlement - though if the saved interest and the settlement fee are more than the balance transfer fee - AND you can pay it off in time then go for it!

Have started a Debt Free in 2009 thread for all of us trying to hit that target - feel free to come and join in there as well!

Right - have checked and the sofa is all mine mine mine (oh - and OH's! :o:D). Am going to go and jump on it to celebrate! And to make sure I don't just swallow up and spend that payment next month when I should be snowballing it I have also set up a regular payment for the same amount to my BC starting January. Think I am happy with that for debt busting today!
