Mizmir, can I join in with your thread, I do have my own, but I'm on a similar mission and intending to be debt free by next xmas too. I've bounced around and since my LBM, my debt hasn't truely started going down until this month.0

Of course! The more the merrier. Welcome! We can encourage each other. I know the feeling about the bouncing around - mine has gone down but way slower than it might have done if I'd had better focus.0 -
glad you had a good weekend. good luck with the talk with OH, but I agree, she needs to be aware of the finances, even if she leaves it to you to do all the actual finance "stuff".....
Definitely - and we did make the time tonight. Had a stiff drink and I took her through the snowball, the bank account and the new budget. She seemed happy with it, raised a couple of points which were perfectly reasonable and I will have to look at and agreed to keep a spending diary.
We also decided to experiment with having "cash pots" for each main budget area - food, fuel, personal - and withdrawing what we have budgeted and spending from there (rather than just paying by card). If we need to pay for something by card (say online) we would then take that amount out of the relevant "pot" and put it in a "bank" to be returned to the actual account on a regular basis.
Does that make sense? Has anyone tried that sort of thing? I just think spending cash will help us realise what we are doing!0 -
i love it when the diaries get nice and busy and we all meet up on them0

things are good apart from uni lol ...i have been at this reflection paper since friday and i am no further forward ...i can do the wor i just cant referance it ....its so frustrating and i think i am too cynical for it to be turthful ...hows things in miz land ? sounds like some good discussions have been going on between you and your oh ....think i need to have me one of those chats soon i know i need to get on top of th ings shortly before they get on top of me0

Things are good here. Think we're moving forward slowly but we'll get there. Am resisting the temptation to join lots of challenges etc. - just hypno's big one - as I find I burn out keeping up with them all and then give up after a few months. I need to be able to keep up with things on minutes rather than hours a day!0
-
i think that is a wise decision i find the same thing myself i reach burn out and boredom easily0

That's got to be easier now that you've managed to have a chat with the OH and that you are both with it.I agree with the being able to keep up in minutes rather than hours theory as well.Nice to see you've had a nice relaxing weekend.0
