Mizmir's "Determined to be debt free by Christmas 2009" diary

Well the final push. I am setting myself a year (well 13 months) to be debt free (except for the mortgage) - and starting a shiny new diary to reflect my new resolution.
To recap - current state of play is £17250 plus a couple of £K in expenses which will be paid eventually and will go straight off the cards - but am treating as part of the total as at the moment are on cards. I have joined hypno's £20K challenge - if I succeed with that I *should* be debt free by next Christmas. I say should be because I have found so far things have been slow because I will go all out then get burned out (too many threads/challenges/totals to keep track of!) and the debts creep back up - not much but enough to mean I don't make those expected dates. So this time I am keeping it simple. Keep track of what I pay off for the £20K challenge and my budget - and the rest should take care of itself. I'll need an average of £360 a week to meet the target which sounds hellish but will come mainly from budgeting salary and extra dog training work.
And I have more of an incentive this time. Which I will talk about in the next post!

Aw Mizmir nice to see you back i've been wondering where you were!
Just want to say Happy new diary and good luck with your challenge! :T0 -
Has been some progress while I was away. New opportunity for OH next year means we will be moving - to cheaper area. Plan is that this will be the chance for me to go self employed and develop the dog training business. But we need to get out of debt to be able to manage this (initially dropping to one salary). So - what an incentive!
I am setting the target as Christmas 2009 as it is realistic both in terms of tackling the debt and thinking about moving - bearing in mind the current housing slump. I don't want it to drag on - but if I make it too steep I will get discouraged and not make it. Have come to realise that half the battle with fighting debt is understanding yourself!0 -

Ooh incentive indeed!!! (although I am a little disappointed that the incentive of my challenge is not enough for you :rotfl: )Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

OO a lovely new diary, it really is great to see you back and motivated..i think your incentive( and Hypno's challenge) will see you having the life you have wanted for a long time..the year will fly by just you see.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
Wayhey! Finally found you at last!
Good luck with the new challenge Miz and the new diary! When I first started posting, you were one of the folks I followed most religiously and you gave me the impetus to start my own diary and get off my b*tt and sort myslef out. Hope I can do the same for you.
