TK Maxx is a great place, just come back with Lee Cooper boxers for £1 pair, a jeff banks jumper for £4.40 instead of £18, Xmas wreath £2
agreenishfingers wrote:I buy loads of stuff in the sales, like a lot of other people here! So far I've bought mini spirits (always good stocking fillers) and fruits in liquers, make-up, smellies, mugs, toys and a bunch of other stuff. I've ticked off about half the people on my list for this year, and top bargain so far has to be some Bob the builder brio sets (rrp £10) reduced to £3 in TK Maxx. I got 4, and they look great as quality presents for little ones! :j :j
Am looking forward to some mine sweeping next week hopefully, but last year I got overexcited and bought a load more than I needed because it was cheap. Wish me luck!0 -

If you know a baby who was born recently you could be really thrifty - if you have saved your newspapers for recycling give them the newspaper from their 1st xmas (eve) or the 1st day of 'their' year. Stick it in a pretty folder from poundland and what a thoughtful gift!
I am saving the fat from my duck, how long will that keep? It's a gourmet item!Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

I have just stocked up Tescos at Crown point in Denton (it is a non-food store) they must be shipping it in from other stores as it was arriving this morning.
Wrapping paper from 17-68p a roll (about a quarter of original price) packs of cards from 11p!, 50p for a pack of 10 nice ones. crackers again about a quarter of original price. A load of Bratz items, purses, pedicure, make up from £ to 75p (i am going to use them as prizes at Daughters party) brats colouring sets for about £3.50. some really nice Baubles originally 3 for £6 down to £1.50. worth a detour but it was going quick.

£3.50 wrapping paper finally reduced to a pound a roll in M and S. Thats a bit more like it. Also got a tyre pressure guage for a quid, a kids telescope for less than half price and a milk frother for half price. Woolworths have some good bargins at the moment. The other week I bought a couple of gardining sets, trowel fork etc reduced from £19.99 to £4.99 and they still have a few of these left. Here dead we lie because we did not choose

I noticed the same with Boots; they had a lot of their stuff on buy two get one free before Christmas; now that offer is not valid, but everything's got 1/3 off. Which is the same thing... except you don't need to purchase three items.
Incidentally, I tend not to buy Christmas stuff in advance (although I bought some Christmas cards at a car boot sale in July last year for something like 20p per pack!) but I do buy the not-Christmassy wrapping paper in the sales. That is, plain red, or patterned gold papers that aren't overtly Christmassy are often reduced; I then use that for wrapping things throughout the year!

Tescos are one of the best for their reductions, even my sister was impressed. We nipped in to get some food shopping but ended up browsing the Chistmas sales isle for ages, snapped up 2 different gift bags for wine at 23p (originally 93p) and 35p (originally over £1 but gave sister so don't know exact price), 2 x rolls of 10mtr X'mas wrap at 29p a roll, X'mas tree ornament at 49p (originally £1.97), 20 pk of Xmas cards at 49p and 10 pack of X'mas cards at 36p (originally £1.44). Honestly could have went mad in there snapping up all the gr8 items but had to really restrain myself.Tesco points: 101 (£21.50, £19.50, £7.50, £21 & £5)
