Keep all the stuff you were given this year that you don't want, and label it carefully, saying who it was from. Then re-cycle them next Christmas, checking the labels carefully, to make sure you only give things to people who DON'T know the people they came from!
It might sound mean, but if you're like me and generally get a number of things that are nice, but that you don't really want, this has got to be the ultimate in money-saving Christmas presents.
I actually bought almost nothing in the way of Christmas pressies this year, as I went mad at the end of January, mainly in Boots, and bought nearly all of my next year's presents at 25% or less of the normal price. Hero or what?
I'm going to try to do a similar thing this year.A penny saved is a penny gained0 -
The problems I find with post Christmas bargin hunting is that a, I'm generally just not that organised. b, I'm fed up of shopping by now. c, I've already spent this months wage on last Christmas, plus I have two birthdays to buy for DD2 and OH.(OH would be happy to get nothing but I kick up a fuss if I get the same so have to make an effort.)
However, having been inspired by reading all the above I am planning to go into town, setting my self the challenge of spending only £25, to try and get birthday pressies for the next year. Only problem is finding a babysitter for my 3yr old otherwise any savings will be used up in bribes for her to behave and a strong coffee to keep me going or creche fees.
Planning to go next week. Will use credit card but pay off as soon as get paid so no interest.
I'll let you know how I go on.0 -
I have never figured out how to add topics, so far I have only made good use of other peoples information. Yesterday ASDA Barnsley had wrapping paper on sale at 3pence per roll.

Couple of my local chemists have cheap smellies gift sets and other novelty Christmas stuff at half price. They need the space.0

Poppy9 wrote:M&S have reduced their CD's to £1. Some nice compilation discs suitable as birthday gifts.
Also their kids nail and lip gloss sets down from £10 to £1. Ideal birthday presents and stocking fillers for next year.
Finally all their reduced jewellery is now £1 too.
Thanks for this, got some reduced biscuits and also a flask reduced to £1.00 (not sure who will be receiving that one yet, but perhaps I should use it to carry a cup of coffee for when all this bargain hunting gets too much!), but now I shall return to M&S, luckily it's opposite Claires Accessories who have their 10 items for £5.00 back on, and not far from Boots, so that I can get some more free Time Delay stuff!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Sainsburys have reduced all their Christmas boxed biccies from £3.49 to 89p. I now have 15 boxes under my stairs. Anyone fancy a cuppa! They're all dated July/Aug 06 so should see me well into the year. They also have Lindt chocs down from £4.99 to £2.49 but only the dark choc - the milk ones must sell all year round. This is the first year that I have shopped 'ahead' and now have pressies for all but 3 of my relatives labelled and put away. Thanks for all the great tips!0

Boots gift sets!
I only went in to get the change one thing vouchers and ended up getting £50 worth of gift sets for around a tenner. They are in nice bags/boxes which i needed anyway as i am decluttering (supposedly) so what i will do is open them up, put the things in storage, use what i need and anything else is useful either for standby birthday presents or next xmas!
Also dressing up costumes are cheap in woolworth's, some as low as 75p, and you could get party clothes for kids for next year.
Got lovely belts in Gap reduced from £25 down to £3.97, metallic leather. Unfortunately I have not felt able to save those for anyone else but myself!Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
