My local garden centre has 75% off Christmas Decs and also food gifts. Whilst most of the food gifts have a use by date of mid 2006, I got some oranges in an orange liquer, massive jar, date on the jar is Nov 2007 and they were reduced to £3.49 from £13.99!!!!

managed to load trolley with 12 boxes from new MK store - normal price £3.79 !! There were shelves full of them left ... (these are the normal large crackers not tree ones)
  • I also bought a load of tree decorations from my local garden centre (wyevale) at 75% off. Spent almost £38 on them but at original prices they would have cost almost £152!!! They had loads of stuff unlike other places, all still shelved and plenty of choice. Great if like me you are changing your tree and decorations for next year. :T

  • Hi Sarah
I last went on sat (my local wyevale is Shenstone nr Lichfield) They still had plenty left....shelves were still full. Dont know about other branches though, but had really nice stuff so I'd say it would be worth trying. :rotfl:

Not sure which thread to add this to, but my local Sainsbury's (the "Market" one near Victoria) has just put out a load of "Taste the Difference" Christmas Cakes at 90% off. So under £1.50 for a decent cake (with a Feb Display until date but IMHO will easily last until next Christmas). I imagine some other stores will have similar.

does anybody else buy these? they are great-

    large range of stores/vouchers
    order in jan
    pay weekly or monthly
    NO INTEREST charged ;)
a month or so before christmas you get a big stack of vouchers, with no expiry date, which you can use either to buy pressies, or save for the sales!!

this year i have ordered £250 of vouchers, for just over £6 a week :T

I've thought about it, and they'd be useful for gifts for people who want to go to the sales (I don't feel quite old enough to hand out actual cash as a Christmas pressie yet!) but I think I'd feel a bit hemmed in if I saved for them for my own spends - I'm quite disciplined and keep a Christmas savings account instead.

Thanks for the info about there being no interest though tankgirl1.

No probs- I am terribly UNdisciplined, and so they are brilliant for me!

You must have read my mind I was only looking at that last night and wondering if it was such a good idea.

As I buy my most of my presents through out the year at bargain prices I not sure if it work.

I only need a bit extra to buy food at the end of the year because we don't drink a lot and don't have any of many guests so just need to spend a lot.

    But a good idea.
