Great Things You Should Buy Now For Next Christmas Hunt

I don't try to guess what people have spent on my presents, I'm really not bothered. It's the thought that counts. I hope they feel the same about mine. To me friends who have hunted in sales for nice presents have worked a lot harder and put in more thought than someone who has just thrown money at the present problem. Men usually do this a day or too before Xmas/birthday!!
I buy in the sales because I begrudge paying inflated prices to shops. No doubt they are still making a profit at the sale price and if not they should get their ordering right as we are paying for their incompetence in inflated prices. Even one of my sisters who's a bit of a 'snob' and worries about appearances now says she never wants to pay full price for anything because there is always a sale on and she doesn't want to waste her hard earned cash.
As regards charity cards. As others have mentioned charities get just a fraction of the cost of the card. Better to buy 90 cards for £1 in the sale and give a fiver direct to charity. I do think that cards are dying out a bit now. In work we don't send cards but donate money to charity. Some friends also send and receive e-cards now. Cards are enviromentally unfriendly (even recycling costs). Why do we want them? To show how popular we are?~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

Hello,
Thanks for those that took the time to reply. I didn't intend to critisise anyone's choices or suggest anyone was skinflint, I was just concerned that sometimes people get so wrapped up in saving money that they forget what they're doing. For example Christmas cards are I guess supposed to be a friendly, thoughtful gesture, not a chore. Similarly with presents, if you're JUST looking for the cheapest, why bother? Having seen your replies, it would seem that most of you are actually still spending the same amount, but just getting better presents, which is great.
Sorry if I caused any offence, that wasn't my intention.
And to whichever of you asked if this was the place for me; it certainly is, I just like to know who I'm mixing with)

I have a budget in mind for each person and will still spend that amount even if it's something in a sale. For example, I have a budget of £10 each for Goddaughters, I still spend £10 but can get them twice as much in the sales than I would normally do.
Am I making sense? When it comes to thought, some people stop at nothing.........0 -
saw a few jars of mincemeat in sainsbury's for 40p, also some cranberry sauce 40p and puddings half price. Sainsbury's also have kids activity tins, quite big, for £2.50 each, a tin with something to do inside, like craft, art, and so on. Good standby pressies. In response to previous posters I think we are benig more creative, why spend loads if you do not have to? I got my fiancé a £100 watch for a fraction of the cost because I shopped around, but he will think I spent £100. My daughter loves her £20 karaoke machine as much as if it had been £50.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

Sarah - hope you are not keeping these for next Christmas (as is the title of this thread) :rotfl:
I would love my daughter Karaoke machine more if I had only paid £20. I only managed a Boots 10% triple points day a couple of Christmases ago~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)
