Just typed a rather long post, pressed the space bar and it disappeared
Don't have time to retype it all at the moment so will just say
Beth good luck for tomorrow.
stefe ((hugs)) to DD. So sad, but at least now she knows the worst
ivyleaf, hope you get better soon, now. Sinusitis is so painful, and unlike tummyache there's nothing to cuddle better.
Hello to all the recent new friends. Hugs to the poorly. Sorry for those who've lost jobs, such a worry.
Just had mushroom soup for lunch. DH reheated it for us. I can confirm ground coriander goes with it fine. DH mistook it for ground black pepper:rolleyes:It's because both have silver coloured tops. Could have been worse, half my spices have silver coloured tops:rotfl:
Chicken stirfry for dinner tonight. Picked up some lovely baby pak choi at Waitrose yesterday;)

hey everyone, i am in love with old style!
for the last few months i've been buying own brand laundry liquid, and using half the recommended dose. was worried to begin with, eldest son has v. sensitive skin as do i. and always have mega baby food stains to get rid of! lol. it works great though. as does the dishwasher tablet halving. even with cheapy tablets!
well for xmas this year i'm making a combination of gifts in a jar, sweets, hm of course. and hm wheat bags. oh and flannel cakes and yule logs. i'll be very busy i think, also doing bibs in jars and vests in baby bottles for my little sis, she's due at hogmanay.
just had to fork out for a dog cage, not for the dog but the cat! poor baby has broken his foot and a plaster wont stay on so he has to stay in a restricted space for it to heal. two weeks. then possibly a slightly larger space for another two! it's such a shame. he's not happy at all. still munching away though. he's going to be like bagpuss by the time he gets better! lol. :rotfl:starting on my jars tomorrow when the shopping gets delivered. aready done a few bibs and six wheat bags. got so much to do though.Unfortunately,
MONEY makes the world go round.
Bah Humbug!!!!

I just make my mashed potato a little thicker than normal, (thicker = dryer) so less milk really, then it sits on top fine apart from a little leakage around the edges which is normal.
Moanymoany - thank you honey, you made me laugh xx
esor - will be thinking of you on Friday hon
Lunch was soup and HM bread and we have decided on quesidillas for dinner (have I spelt that correctly?:rotfl: )
Diva.xTo be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough. If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow.0 -
Lame wolf - I really identify with your struggle with meal plans. Just had a mail from dear heart to say that he has a bad throat and is achey. So the liquor from the slow cooker tonight that the brisket has been cooked in, with dried mushrooms and dried veg, instead of being lunch for me and little bear tomorrow is likely to be tea tonight with bread from the bread maker.
Little bear is so grumpy. I have been giving him medised which is supposed to help dry up a runny nose. I have been giving it to him on occasion since he was six months. It says it can be given from 3 months on the box. However the local pharmacy on the instructions of the local doctor, after selling me the jallop for little bear for over a year, now won't sell it for any child under 24 months. Little bear will be 2 on 29 Dec. I have been sprinkling olbas oil on the radiator and I have purchased a vaporiser. Do you think the chemist would know if I sneaked into Boots to get the medised? And evilly administered a medicine designed for children over three months to my 23 month old son!
I shall see what dear heart says. Part of me says that this is very silly but I don't want to take a risk with little bear's health. It is just that he is so snuffly that he can't eat or drink easily. Still he seemed to enjoy his trip out and got to see a puppy, which he enjoyed a great deal.
Hugs to all.
Mustangsal - I wash little bear's clothes in a low temperature, but a long wash and it is quite surprising how well that works.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -
Think it might get a bit steamy in my house when the heating comes on cos I have towels draped everywhere to dry- being very good about not using my tumble drier at the moment!
Have made yummy gingerbread for the kids- have to try REALLY hard to resist cos I am dieting (again:rolleyes: ).
Went to my parents and sorted out lots of silly bits for them- Dad is 89 and Mum is 80 and they are both AMAZING for their age but Dad is nearly blind and Mum just can't deal with paperwork and DIY! Fixed their garage door openers, smoke alarms (needed new batteries-"Oh is that why they were beeping'? says Mum:eek: ) and sorted out their free loft insulation that the Govt are doing!
Have cleaned 2 bathrooms and am delegating the kids bathroom to them. I am loving my Ecloths for cleaning- they do such a great job with no chemicals so no worries about my little guy getting hold of them.
Boxed veg arrived so need to plan side dishes to go with main meals already planned.
My little guy is fast asleep on the lounge floor- so cute I can't disturb him!!0 -
Beth, good luck for tomorrow.
Stef, so sorry for your daughter. Hugs to you all.
Glad, congratulations on your 25 years.
Not much done today, having an off day. Went to Lidl but didn't get much. I got lots of toilet rolls at Farmfoods, they have a brand called Nicki which is quite good quality and at the moment costs £2 for 9 rolls. DH calls it credit crunch paper.
I intended making a pie but didn't get round to it so pork loin steaks with soggy tomatoes and wedges for dinner.
Hugs if you need them.
Enjoy the evening.0 -

Betheebee, good luck for tomorrow – I know the timing isn’t great for you but hopefully by Xmas your arm will be much better! Will be thinking of you. Also I am pleased your DB2 has told someone at last.
EssexGirl, thank you for the pointer to the onion marmalade recipe, I shall have a look in a minute. I had some lovely tomato chutney in a Panini at lunchtime (my friend treated me so I think that’s OS, lol), so will be hunting for that next.
Aussie, thank you too for the link to the Morsbag J I’ve got lots of bits of fabric I can dig out.
Diva, good to see you hon, and thanks for that, I might try & drop into a butcher’s tomorrow in that case. Moanymoany’s post made me laugh too!
Ivyleaf, hope you feel better soon too – so many poorly people about at the moment.
Sunnyday/JustPeyton – aww, furchild, that’s really sweet…
WSybil, hope the “zinginess” is still there, so glad to hear your tablets seem to be working for you J And what on earth is a “furtle”, lol.. my imagination is conjuring up allsorts….
Soapy, you’re still here… poor you L It’s when people look at you & say “haven’t you had the baby yet…” as if it’s not obvious you haven’t!!! (EDIT: just spotted Stefjb had put the same thing!) Sending you “get moving” vibes.
Stefjb, (((Hugs)))) to your DD, and to you.
Esor, I don’t know about doing loads of OS stuff, but I like to bake when I get a chance, (find it therapeutic) and also enjoy cooking from scratch when I can (and teaching my daughters to do the same), plus any other little hints & tips I pick up on here.
Welcome to so many newbies too – it’s great to see you & hopefully we can all give each other lots of OS ideas & suggestions J
Youngest DD just doing sausage, chicken, bacon, onion & sweetcorn pasta for supper before I head off to a school governor’s meeting, what joy…
Take care my oldstyle friends. xxLive your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0
