Afternoon all.
((((Stef)))) So sorry about your DD.
Glad - congrats on your 25 years service.
Sybil - I'm pleased that you have some tablets that seem to do you good at last. It's difficult I know, I've been through just about every anti-depressant known to Man over the course of the last 37 years!
Someone mentioned yesterday (I think it was Floss) about recycling old spray bottles instead of buying plant sprays for dilute Stardops. Well, I'd have done just that, if any of my cleaning stuff had been in spray bottles.:p
Mr LW is w*rking from home today, so we have the customary Shepherd Spy - in fact I will have to put it in the oven in a couple of minutes.
He's finishing at 15:30 this afternoon, and then we have to go to Morrisons, as the fridge is looking decidedly empty. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Stef, I am so sorry to hear about your dd, how terribly sad please give her a hug from me.
Kind of puts everything into perspective eh ?
Glad congrats on your 25 years, what is it you do ?
Well I have done the hoovering right through, put a wash on, which is blowing on the line (nearly froze to death hanging it out), dw been on and emptied, I have wrapped some presents for dd + oh birthday, just going to put the sc on for tonights dinner then will do a bit more xmas shopping for dd, thought I had finished, but having wrapped her birthday stuff up it looks like there is not enough. (Elona, could you pm me the website for the nail varnish etc
)
My chest is still rattling, but I am on the mend, will be a lot better by tomorrow :T .
Hugs where needed xx0 -
Good afternoon all!
N9eav - hope you feel more cheery soon.
Stef - hugs to your dd and you.
Hester - I hope that your workload improves soon and the one degree makes an appearance!
Tru - lovely to see you back, I've missed you! Great news about the cards and homemade gifts, salt dough is great and there are often lots of books in the charity shops about it, great for inspiration!
Beth - good luck for tomorrow xx
Taplady and Diva - thinking of Lesley and Tristran x
Glad - congratulations! Enjoy your presentation!
Hugs to all the poorlies and good luck to all those job hunting.
Bright and sunny here today, but really really cold! Had to resort to doing the ironing to keep me warm lol! Still got through four wash loads, so I'm feeling very pleased with myself! BM, DW, yoghurt and WM on. Bedding changed, got some nice new sheets the other day and they are so lovely! Rolls made in the moski and as soon as the loaf is finished in the BM I shall throw in pizza base mix, and then cook a few in the moski for the kids dinner. Hoovering was done yesterday by the troops as was some dusting and tidying, but not quite as well as it should have been, so they will be busy again tonight whilst I'm working, it's a bit like having magic elves when they sort things out whilst I'm not here!
Lunches today were cheese sarnies for dd1 and dd2, veg sticks and cheese dip for dd3, pineapple, apple, dd2's hm swiss roll that she made as a surprise for me last night, and yoghurt. My lunch will be leftover chilli from the freezer, with poss some green and blacks choc to follow - Christmas pressie from mil!
Emptied the understairs cupboard of pressies and lugged them all upstairs, now my bedroom floor is covered with piles of stuff! Need to finish sorting out which child is having which items, then make sure all have an equal amount, then order the big pressies - not quite sure what they want yet, so will have to bother them tonight! Got a couple of things to get for friends, males are difficult, females are easy, and something for the kids dad, know what to get, just need to find it online. Then I should be all done I hope! Need to get more wrapping paper and post off bits for nephew and niece and then I can relax!
About the turkey prices, sorry have no ideas, will ask ds tonight, our turkey is currently alive and gobbling around a field opposite us, ds's friend is raising them! Kids keep joking at the turkey can walk to our house itself!
Off to catch up on what's been going on yesterday, have a good day all xx

Afternoon all - still at home with DS and his sickness bug, and I am getting a cold so feel rather rough - although nothing compared to what some are going through on here at the moment, so it puts it all into perspective...we've got nothing to complain about.
It is cold and bright here, but damp - i may hang some washing out but have cheated and put some in the tumble dryer. I have opened all the windows a crack to get some fresh air in, and the heating isn't on either. We are keeping warm with hot chocolate and I am going to make some HM chips in a mo.
We have had a letter from the water board who are going to turn the water off all day, one day next week, so i need to get my washing done. I want to give the washing machine a good old OS clean, with vinegar and soda crystals!
Have a good a day as you all can

Hello everybody:hello:
I hopped on the bus this morning to go to a small retail park about 3 miles away-the route is a bit roundabout but is fairly quick,it doesn't go to town but goes 'across country' so its great for me as I don't drive.
There's an Asda ,Tesco, small M&S,Boots,Next nd a lot of furniture shops.I got some decent presents on Boots 3 for 2,one each for DS2,DH,and DB.Trouble is they were biggish boxes and i only had my wally trolley( sorry chic shopper! The biggest box luckily was fairly light so I kept that in the large carrier the girl put it in-rest in the trolley, saving some room for the Asda ys turkey joint and pork shoulder joint, and one rump steak reduced to a pound.Drat it-done it again,by the time I've cooked and sliced the meat up into meal portions the freezer will be filled up again, but I can't resist a bargain- the pork one is huge,do us loads of meals.Pork for tea then!May do roasties, cauli and broc.
'Someone' has obviously left the hm loaf out overnight last night-to say it is hard is slightly understated  .Better make breadcrumbs for the Xmas stuffing pronto and get another loaf in before tea.
After that I have loads of shredding to do( what an exciting life I lead  )
Sybil-glad the new tablets are helping-though they won't make you like housework any better :rotfl: -think we'd all want some then!
Stef- sorry to hear about your daughter .
Glad- congratulations,enjoy your afternoon.
Beth- good luck tomorrow.

I'm sorry Diva, I know that it's no laughing matter - but that anyone would be bothered to PM you, to accuse you of getting up in the small hours to be the one to start the daily thread is hilarious! :rotfl:
Someone needs to get a grip - and - it ain't you!
I was moneysaving - if not OS - when M&S did their 20% off - ordered lots of wine. It was 33% off with a further 20% so we are expecting good stuff for £3.50 a bottle (average). BUT - the beany thing we had last night was very cheap!0 -
How do you make it? I can't make it at all - the potato falls into the mince
Melt about an ounce of butter in a heavy saucepan. Add sliced onion, cook for a couple of mins. Add a sliced carrot (I use the food processor to do the slicing), cook for a few mins (? about 5 I think). Add a handful of frozen peas, half a bag of Morrisons veggie mince and a veg Oxo dissolved in a little over quarter pint of water. Cook for another 5 mins or so. Put all this into a greased oven tin, level it out, and press down a little (this stops the mash mixing in with the mince). Make mash in the usual way and spread on top - make sure not to make the mash too runny by adding a lot of milk or anything (tbh, we put butter and cream in ours!!) I also grate a little Parmesan over the top of the mash, and cook at 190 degrees C for 30 mins.
This does enough for us for two days; the second half gets put in the fridge when cold, and next day put onto dinner plates and hotted up in the microwave. It means that when Mr LW is on late shift (which always follows a day on Early) I don't have to scrat about cooking at silly hours.
NB I have no idea how to do a meat one, I believe you have to be careful to cook the mince through. One of the meat-lovers on here will know, I'm sure.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Well not done too much OS today, although on my second load of washing and have tried just one tablet the last couple of days as suggested and it seems to clean the clothes exactly the same as using the full dose. So that's my washing tablet bill halved, and we buy the own brand ones so nice and cheap!
Had OHs pie from last night for my lunch, will have to keep experimenting with flavours until I find something he likes, going shopping tomorrow for more supplies (well mostly just some more fresh veg and cake stuff) so we'll see how it goes. Defrosting bolognaise for tonight which I'll just serve with some pasta so nice and easy.
It's freezing cold! The heating was off all morning but I had to put it on if I wanted to get some of this washing dry. Still wrapped up in a duvet on the sofa though, should prolly do something active to get warmed up but feeling really lazy today. Should at least do some work for my masters but I don't think it's gonna happen. Actually, might go and have a nice hot bath to warm me through and take one of my uni books to read.
Extra hugs to all who need them. People have such a lot going on in their lives that I'm amazed you all find time to do so much OS stuff. I have a pretty quiet life atm, it's great and I shouldn't really moan about stuff, had stuff a lot harder before now!
...but still, I am worried about going to the hospital on Friday. These lumps on my earlobes are no doubt going to be removed again but I've decided to go for local anaesthetic rather than general like last time as I had to have a breathing tube and I woke up with an amazingly sore throat (the pain from that was worse for the first couple of days the pain of the surgery site!). Ok, moan over, I know it could be a lot worse!
Take care everyone and keep warm x0
