Squiggly - I havnt actually made onion marmalade yet but it does look easy - have googled a few recipes and think might be going for one from the BBC Good food website (cant do links  ). I havnt done any preserving before so I thought this might be a good way to start. I have ordered some kilner jars but will start collecting old jars now.
Glad - congratulations.
Re Turkeys - think I will put £10w away from now for my turkey. Have got a big one coming but it should provide loads of meals. Must start thinking about my ham - havnt used the butcher before - think will have a chat with him.0 -
:hello: Good morning!
Hester ((((hugs))) for your friends dd. Don't you just love their timing? Bad news at any time but while you are on holiday and just before Christmas? Poor girl! We know our dd would have had this news eventually but do wish they had waited til after Christmas, still it is maybe best to know sooner and have time to look around for another job.
I woke up feeling sick worrying over dd but then remembered something my Mum used to say in bad times, "If you can't do anything about the problem in hand, go and find something else to do!" so up early today. Penny walked before 7am  she is still in shock!:rotfl:Washing on, ironing sorted and ready to go and am about to make an eggless, fatless, sugarless Christmas cake! Not as boring as it sounds (or healthy I suspect) as it does have some ground almonds in and a lot of fruit which I soak, the night before, in a contreau and orange juice mix. It is yummy though!
I got 7 jars of whisky mincemeat out of yesterdays batch, so that should keep us in puds and pies for a while! Just have the Christmas puddings to mix up now, using Delias recipe (fingers crossed) the last time I made Christmas puds (20 odd years ago) it all went terribly wrong!
(((hugs))) to Redruby - hope you feel better soon!
Thank you Kathy! You have just reminded me to phone drs for the result of my fasting blood test from last week!
Right one more :coffee: and I will be ready to cook!
Have a nice day y'all!

Squiggly & Pippa Here is the morsbag site. I think I spelt it wrong before. I'm not joining a pod so I won't be able to use their tags but I'm still making the design. I ran out of time so didn't get to cut it out. I did print the instructions out though.
Beth Good luck for tomorrow. At least you won't have to sit and worry for weeks.
Glad Congratulations.
Sounds like your budget is as depressing as one of ours. In January every parent gets $1000 for each child. I would have scored $3000 if mine were still little. The lady down the road has 8 kids. Of course none of that was in. We just got a free baby goodies pack from the hospital.
Hope all those not well are getting better. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Bathroom cleaning for today and might make some gingerbread for the kids after school. My golden syrup has gone a bit crusty- anyone know if it will still be ok to use??

I can't work out if the budget helps or hinders me - is there a sort of calculatory thingy anywhereI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
Morning everyone. Very cold her this morning, fortunatley put a new quilt on the bed yesterday, 13.5 tog apparently, didn't want to leave the bed this morning.
Tea is beef stew left over from yesterday with a turnip & pear bake. Not made it before, sliced & diced the veg last night so OH can layer it up & bung in the oven later. My bread & butter pudding turned out successfully, theres enough to last until Thursday of Friday as well.0
