  • Morning all

Well I too have been consciously trying to make sure I mention OS stuff in my posts as have many others, so I really don't understand why it's still/suddenly being said again that this thread is no longer OS? It's such a shame that some people are STILL stirring problems on here. I would hope that bullying & abusive PM's are being taken to & dealt with by abuse. There is no need for people to say "glad I don't post on here anymore" as that tars everyone with a very nasty brush. And then to personally insult another poster on the thread is bullying itself as far as I can see. So I shall do my best to ignore the nastiness and carry on posting, despite the fact that this leaves me feeling very sad.

Aussie - what's a Morse bag? Hope your DGS's hands are all much better now too.
Redruby - hope you are feeli better later today hun. Don't try to do too much.
EssexGirl - is onion marmalade easy? I buy a jar every now & then, but the one I like is about £5!!!
Tru - welcome back!!!!!!!! How lovely to see you. Sorry to hear you've been having a tough time, but what good news about your cards. Can't help with the turkey price - but I was going to start investigating the same myself very shortly so I'll use your price to compare with!
Hester, can I ask how you make your minestrone - it's (another) one of the things I'd like to try making.

Anyhow, stuck the WM on so oldest DD can put washing on the airer later, jacket potatoes to be put in oven by one of the others when they get in from school so we can have easy supper. Got some carrot & coriander soup to take for lunch at work today, will need something warming I think!

Have a good day all (((((((hugs)))))) for all those needing.

woke up to the revving of an engine but when i turned over i found it was dh without his mask on ,,lol xx. didnt have the heart to wake him so have come down here to talk to you

well thank you and dh very much for the tea splattered monitor :D i sympathise really - exoh had the same problem but refused to get help
Glad well done you - what will you get?
Hester - hugs for your friends dd. My dd is still not sure what's happening with hers. She works for a high end baby product retailer so fairly risky - i'm hoping that they're just putting the scares on people although to be honest i wouldn;t mind her not doing this job - long hours, long commute and just above minimum.

dd(19) has hopefully left for the hospital but texted me last night to say that dgs(3) needs a bath in the morning - oh joy - that will be 10 minutes of pleading and dark threats about father christmas to get him in and the same to get him out again - did you know that nana's have the secret mobile number for santa - candygirl i must remember to give that to you when the time comes.

Last night I passed on jame oliver's tomato spaghetti to dd and will cook something else with her today - probably a chicken curry

    have good days all

  • Good morning all. It's quite cold here this morning. Bless my OH, he took the furchild (doggie) out for her morning walk so I'm being lazy and I'm still in my dressing gown. I need to get moving in a bit though and get some work done around here.

I made a big pot of beef and veg stew for last night's dinner. It turned out wonderfully, if I do say so myself. OH double checked this morning that I'd be sending some with him for his lunch at work. He's outside most of the time while working which is lovely in the summer, not so lovely at this time of year. A hearty bowl of stew and a sandwich ought to warm him and fill him up when he has his break.

I finally got my cookie doughs made up and baked some yesterday. Oatmeal raisin and coconut chocolate chip cookies. OH had to sample one when he had a cup of coffee after getting home last evening. He declared they were "safe" to eat.:rotfl:I tucked a few into his bag for today at work. I'll leave enough dough in the refrige to have fresh cookies this week and freeze the rest. Makes it very easy to have fresh cookies when short on time that way.

I'm fighting with the hoover my daughter gave us. It's a prolectrix that was purchased from lidl's originally. It's bagless and there is a pleated paper filter in the center of the dirt collection container. The filter clogs so quickly that the hoover will overheat and shut off. Not good for the hoover or my nerves. I can't find replacement filters or a pre-filter for it. I may have to improvise. Now that's a scary thought! ;)

I have some mince in the freezer that I'll brown and then add to cooked macaroni for dinner tonight. I'm thinking I'll make a nice cheese sauce and add some tinned tomatoes, herbs and spices in for a filling meal. Steam some brocolli to go with it and there will be dinner ready.

Off here to clean now. Giant ((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))) for all who want and/or need them. This time of the year with the economy so bad, short hours of daylight, cold and the holidays coming can get anyone really down. I try to find at least 5 things to be grateful for each day to remind me that things aren't all gloom and doom when I'm down. It really helps. I'm grateful for all of you lovely people who start my day off with a smile. Thanks you!

    Good morning all.

Glad - congrats to you for 25 years of service!

Tru - good to see you back, whoever you are! Fantastic news about the cards - please post some photos when you can. That turkey sounds a good price for free range, definitely.

RedRuby - hope you're feeling better today? And Essex-Girl - hope you're not going down with it.

I had the pneumonia jab a few weeks ago and then the nurse talked me into having the 'flu jab last week so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I am having my cholesterol tested tomorrow - I just asked the nurse at my last chest check-up and she arranged it for me. I've never had it done before. The worst thing is having to fast in the morning, not even a cup of tea! The test is at 8.50 so I shall be tanking back home for food and a cuppa straight after!

Dinner tonight is chicken casserole; I have some chicken breasts and some HM leek and potato soup so I shall just bung it all in the Remoska and do some spuds with it. The bread-and-butter pud made with stale currant loaf was lovely yesterday so we will finish that off for afters.

I'm collecting DGS from school this afternoon so will no doubt get thrashed at any of the games we play.

The budget was distinctly unimpressive, irritating and pretty useless for us mere mortals, wasn't it? What planet are they on? Still, at least they're consistent; Labour have always been high tax, high spend and I think we were doomed way back when Brown launched his great public spending review a couple of years after they were elected, with no common sense to back it up, and then followed it up with non-stop waste ever since. They always get booted out on the economy and this is no different.

Well, I'd better go and get the washing on the line; looks like a lovely drying day today.

    (((Hugs))) to everyone.

  • Morning Chums ,bit dark and gloomy here this morning, Got up early to watch Corrie on catch up but fell asleep halfway through.College last night was good and we all seem to be getting on o.k.Today I am going to SC my piece of boiling bacon that I got last week reduced to 1.99 from 3.99.That should do me several days and probably end up by Friday in a pasta dish.
This morning my DD is coming round and we are going to see if we can get a decent price for the ferry next year to the Isle of Wight .With two cars at the moment it look like around £200.00+. We decided to go for the house there after all, although it was dear, we have nearly 10 months to save for it.
Plus of course we save all of our Tesco vouchers for the food.
My GC is helping because I am not spending as much as I used to do so the extra will go into the fund for our holiday.
Going to make some of Twinks Hob-nobs today as well. I have no shopping to buy at all so I shall stay away from the shops for as long as I can.
Didn't think a great deal of the pre-budget thing yesterday,he seems as though he wants to encourage folk to spend money they haven't got, on things they don't need.False economy I think. I shall hang on to my cash I think.

    Morning all,
I have a busy OS day ahead of me because of the Hosp results. I went y/day to have post Op check on my right arm/hand. They were fine but was told that the left one needs to be oped on asap. as any further delay would result in perminent damage. They want me in TOMORROW

I have so much to do, so today I will be cooking loads to stash in the freezer, already have a beef cass in SC, a huge chilli bubbling, 2 YS chooks in oven and BM on. Started that at 4.45am as I couldn't sleep for worrying. :o

Bring down Xmas pressies from loft, didn't have time y/day, write xmas cards, letters as I'm left handed and wont be able to use it after tomorrow. Empty ironing basket, DH and I have to move about 2 tonnes of logs from the drive and stack as many as poss in the inglenook we don't use and the rest in the barn. Shoping, as I wont be able to drive.

DF's who came home to the building work from hell last night are coming to stay today until the builders have finished, proberbly until the week-end. I brought some of their washing home last night and have 2 loads done. DF is recovering from Throat Cancer and she needs plenty of rest and no stress, so I must keep calm, a bit like a duck, serene above water yet paddling like hell.

Well folks sorry for the long post, must stop panicing and use the energy to get going.

Lots of Hugs to those poorly, hurting, redundant, and missing from here.

    Morning everyone
Not been here for a bit - madhouse, DS using game machine online, up & down to see dad in hospital, shopping (xmas & food), & NOT gettting anything done!!
Got to see bank today, hiccup re new mortgage payments  .
I have 2 'new' cot quilts from freecycle, which need covers making, but will buy just one for 'best'. Doing really well with Christmas budget - found loads of books I bought up to 7 years ago (as presents & never gave! ), which will find new homes on Christmas day, plus got some nice things in M&S last week in sale. Also making edibles as extra, less expensive, gifts & stocking fillers.
Tonight's tea is a mystery - depends what I find, but will include any or all of the following: onions, mushrooms, couscous, sausages from freezer, oats/oatmeal - maybe a spicy sausage stew with couscous & veg.
Re turkeys - was in butcher's the other day & putting money in his savings club & his wife said someting about folks needing to save for turkeys as they were going to be a lot more expensive than last year. Said it was a good job we don't do turkey - we always have a beef joint. Get some good deals in there, but even so prices are still going up.
Doubt that yesterday's announcements will affect us, unless it's adversely.
Toddler wrecking craft stuff, so off now, talk later!
Hugs & kisses to all in need! :grouphug:

Morning all. Still freezing here and still full of the cold! But hey ho!

The boiler didn't fire up this morning so the house was darn chilly but I managed to get it going so its warmer now!
Have to nip out to the PO today to post parcels to Australia for Xmas- most organised of me (and most unlike me!).

Will get some coffee beans and then back home for soup making I think today!

Bathroom cleaning for today and might make some gingerbread for the kids after school. My golden syrup has gone a bit crusty- anyone know if it will still be ok to use??

I was lazy last night after Housegroup and left the lounge in an awful mess but have tidied it up this morning and even tidied little one's books (they will stay that way for ...oh....5 mins at least!).

    Have a good day everyone!

Glad Congratulations on the Service award!

MorwennaHope your DD feels better soon.

Lesley Hope you have better luck with your parcel today!
