I'm glad I googled for "Mobile Outlet Review" now!

I was about to buy 6 mobile tarrifs with them! I don't think the aggravation and dodgy "sharp" dealings are worth it in the long run. Gonna look at Cool New Mobile instead.
  • Still no luck with cancelling my contract - they've told me three times it's been done, but Virgin say they haven't had anything from Carphone Warehouse, and Carphone Warehouse say they haven't had anything from The Mobile Outlet, so I'm stuck with Virgin saying they're going to send my details to a collection agency, since I cancelled the direct debit on TMO's advice and haven't ever made any payments. Three months on, lots of promises about how they'll call me back or get right on to it, and no results at all!

  • Oh yeah, and let's not forget their helpline closes at 5:30, so I can't call them after work!

I have just sent the message I posted on this thread last week to forumqueries@themobileoutlet.com to see if they will reply to my query regarding possible shortfalls in the amounts I have received in cashback from them. This will be the third time I have contacted them on this matter and I do hope that they reply to me this time.

Has anyone else been concerned that their cashback amount was not as much as they expected? If they queried it were their concerns answered?

BTW I have had the first cashback for each of the two phones I have through TMO with no difficulties and I am very grateful about this.

Thanks to everyone who replied to this note, particularly the ones who pointed out that I must use .co.uk, not .com.

When I first took out contracts with TMO I did my homework and this included corresponding with their Sales Director and their Customer Service Department from whom I had good replies. Sally Whitehead in CS was particularly helpful and indeed it was Sally who has sorted out my query on this occasion - once I used the correct email address.

In calculating my cashback I had completely forgotten to allow for the first three months of the contract that were half price. This explained my first phone cashback. However, this did not help me with the second phone and when I asked Sally for further clarification she explained that a different method had been used to arrive at my figure. This then made sense, but if I had had this explained to me when I first enquired via their CS email address, rather than through this forum, it would have saved me a lot of effort and worry.

So, in conclusion, half my mistake half theirs I reckon but thank you to Sally for finally coming to my rescue.

  • Well, a reasonably happy ending to my particular story - spoke to someone in their office today, and although they can't cancel the contract, they're paying all my cashback up front. For some reason, their agents Hugh Simmonds(sp?) wouldn't cancel the contract, even though I sent the phone back in time.

    guys,

I think that each and every mobile phone company involved in cashback will have happy and unhappy customers, depending on circumstances. I myself lost out when Just3G went to the wall. All I would say is that TMO are at least trying via this forum to help us to sort out our and their problems, so let's all be thankful for that. For those who've been successful via this forum, I thank TMO for helping those posters out. For the others who are still experiencing problems, may I suggest a little more patience may be in order. As per my earlier post, I'm just claiming my first instalment, so I hope that, with the aid of this forum if needs be, it goes smoothly.

I second that, MO were a bit late with my payment but it did come a few weeks late, otherwise it has been a great experience. I know people who have lost hundreds on cashback deals and can understand why people get nervous when cashback payment is late - I was!

MO - my advice to you is that many people taking up your deals are not flush with cash and any delay that you have, puts pressure on your customer who can ill afford to lose money, having heard about other nightmare cashback stories they will begin to believe it is happening to them.

Get it sorted MO, we don't need the stress & you don't need bad press

  • What ever you do, DO NOT go with the mobile outlet! I have been getting cashback deals for years. I always remember to send the voucher/bill off in time and have never had any problems. But I went with mobile outlet this year and oh my god, it's been the worst stress of my year! I entered into a 12 months free contract. Half way through they changed their terms and conditions but reassured me that my original terms and conditions apply. When I sent my bills (as I was supposed to do) I was refused cash back because apparently I was supposed to include a dispatch note. This was not on my terms and conditions but on the new ones (which don't apply to me). I have since written to them over 10 times. They either reply saying 'sorry we can't help' or 'I've passed your comments on to our senior cashback team' who never reply. I have written to them saying 'please reply to this letter as it's the 10th letter I've sent' and guess what....absolutely nothing. I can't express how infuriating this is. I have received no money from them, and it's a complete con. They refuse to deal with cash back enquires on the phone, and so you are left with writing enless letters that are ignored. No money, and no good reason why. They will try anyting to get out of it. I strongly urge you not to go anywhere near them! I am considering taking this matter to the small claims court but it's just so much stress and hassle.
