Cousin has been offered a Bengal x, this is the Dad, is he definitely a Bengal or a Moggy (I can't tell i'm no expert!). What are the breed like? From what I read on a rescue site they can be demanding? This is a Bengal x but still could have the full Bengal temperament! Any advice I can give? TIA

Looks like a moggy to me...
The colouring on all the bengals I've every seen is totally different to that - pretty thoughI guess he could have SOME bengal in him... He does have the horizontal "mascara" stripes on his face which is a bengal trait
He's also got some "rosetting" on his body but it's not really very clear...
If dad IS a bengal I'd say he's not a pure bred or at least not a very good example of the breed standardDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

This page has lots of "retired" breeding cats on it - there are some good variations of the breed there... all seem to have much clearer colours than the dad of the cat your friend has been offered.

He is indeed a moggy but Bengal maybe in a distant relative. You can always tell a full pedigree Bengal.

Thanks! I had suspicions but i'm no Bengal expert! Didn't want her paying that much for it if it's a Moggy! I have a pic now of the Mum, which you can't see her face but she's supposedly a British Short Hair. Now my friend in the south has three BSH's & they're all about 2x bigger than this. Is this a scam to get more money for a Moggy x Moggy by saying it's a BSH x Bengal?!
and the kitten:
And just so you can see cats that In know are 100% BSH's here's my friends:
The white Mum cat doesn't look any bigger than my Black DSH, I really don't know if they are the breeds they're supposed to be! Help!0 -
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww Kimberley I want him! lol I've never had Bengal but when I see them they never normally have me thinking they look just like a Moggy! I saw the Dad & was like hmm I dunno. The Mum too, she looks Moggy to me, not at all big & chunky tho I don't know her age but from what Ali my mate says her BSH's above were fat asses from babies lol
I just have a bad feeling bout it, apparently the Owner breeds Bengals but had an accidental mating with the Mum. She didn't say she breeds BSH also, in which case why was the Mum not spayed? Am I being OTT?0 -
No way would I pay out a lot of money for a cross breed. If they are around £40 then yes but over £100 no, but thats me, if someone would then thats fine too but I see many Bengal crosses going for hundreds when they are not worth the money. Some even advertise crosses as Bengals.0

Accidental mating? Yeah right

It'd be interesting to see the Mum & Dad, but also don't Breeders in general either have the Mum or the Dad & not both? The Owner has both. I googled Bengal breeders in the area but all that comes up are Bengal x BSH's, maybe they're bred on purpose? They are £150 each & not vaccinated, now Breeders vaccinate at least the first course I know, so even if an accidental mating surely you'd want them to be done too? They are wormed & frontlined apparently & Vet checked.
Think i'll ask her to not get one, at first I was like awwwwwww I want it but then I started thinking & doubts crept in! So glad I have this forum to ask all my questions on, oo another thing, these were on one of those Preloved type websites, forget the name. Now don't most breeders have their own websites? Wouldn't they advertise on there?
I'll print this thread off, i'd believe people here over the Owner.0
