  • I've had to resurrect my spending diary too. Do you think everyone has head in the sand disorder with it coming up to Xmas? You can always tell I'm spending, spending, spending when I neglect my diary

I must confess that I had noticed your absence...... and then your reappearance! :O) (good to have you back BTW!)

I haven't actually been spending - as such. Been tweaking and closing down CC's and working out exactly how much I owe OH. I realiased about a week ago that I had been a bit of a numpty!!

I had agreed to repay OH at £100/week. This in its own right is not a problem... what is a problem is that he hasn't sorted an account out yet for me to repay the money into and I also didn't clear my old HSBC account; call it misplaced dignity / pride, but I wanted to do that one on my own! So, I had been repaying my HSBC OD at £100/week instead. Cracking. But then I realised, that I hadn't built up any form of balance in my account to allocate to spends for Christmas.

So the up-shot is (if you are still reading my ramblings) that I am going to take OH up on his VERY kind off to clear my HSBC OD (£700) and not to start repaying him until January. I have insisted that I will repay him at £125/week, so he will get the money back quicker!

    So thats me in a nut-shell! :O)

  • So how long should it take everything to be cleared then, including boyfriend?

From January when I start to repay my (lovely) OH (which will by then be my ONLY debt) I anticipate it will take 2.5 years to repay approx (still not worked out exactly!!) £16300. This is the original £14300 from my OH, the extra £700 to clear my HSBC OD and an estimate £1400 for my half of our holiday this year!! (still waiting for OH to work out total cost of holiday!)

It is definitely do-able; I find it amazing though that it was going to take me 2yrs and 9months to pay back £14200 @ £100 a week, but by upping that to £125 a week, I can pay back more in less time.

  • That sounds most do-able. Oh just think 2.5 years with no debts! I've got 4.5 years (big sigh). Oh well, it is all of my own doing, can't blame anyone else.

I can't even start to work out how long it would have taken me without OH's help!!

I am very lucky, and this is definitely a turning point for me.... I am going to have to save if I want things, especially as I now only have the Tesco CC (purely for the clubcard points - and I am already setting money aside into my savings account for the value every time I use it! go me!! lol)!!

4.5 years isn't that long, not in the grand scheme of things. Just need to keep that end goal in sight. I like the idea (think it was over on MemoryGirls thread) about having a board and pinning all the things on there that you want in the future. Be it a new house/car/holiday, it acts as a reminder as to why you are on this journey!

Ok, so got home last night to a Barclaycard envelope on my doormat! Excellent, I thought, didn't take as long as I envisaged for the form to get to me, I'll sit down now and fill that in!!

BUT NO!!! It was my replacement credit cards!!! I don't use the s8dding account, so I really do not want new cards - what I want....... is to get my money back and close the account.

They have until I check the post tonight for that form to be there, or I will be on the phone, and it aint gonna be pretty! ;)

Other than that, life is ok!

Last night I had another envelope from Barclaycard..... just let me know that they have change my account details because of the dispute - but not to worry as my DD would still reach the right account!!

Yeah, like they are getting ANY more of my money! lol

Had to go out last night, so was dashing around like a mad thing - if there is nothing from them tonight, I will call!
