yay to closing your card. Aren't they reluctant to actually close them, it's so funny. Barclaycard actually refused to close mine when it was cleared in case i decided i wanted to go back to them and it would save me having to go through the credit checks. What a load of ****

glad you had a good holiday, nice to see you back
  • Morning All!

With my holiday already a distant memory (is that not always the case?) I thought maybe I should write a little update.....

I have received my cheque from Halifax and my CC is closed - just need to bank said cheque!

I have applied to close my Santander Zero card. They are sending me the 63p I was in credit (straight to my A&L account) and they can't close my card until it is at £0.00. Strange, as everyone else has managed to combine the 2 processes; so I will have to call them again!

I somehow managed not to cancel my DD to my Abbey (MBNA) card, so they took an additional £100.odd this month - which they are now sending back to me and closing my account.... no quibbles, no smarm tactics, just a straight "yes, I can close that for you - please destroy your card." I was a little disappointed to be honest; wanted to listen to their blurb and then say "no thank you!"

Tesco are sending me a cheque for £20.01 as I was in credit there too. I am not closing this card as I want to use it for everyday things including food shopping etc to get loads of clubcard points!! (we all know what points make!!)

I think there may be a really small balance on each of my Egg cards - I will sort them out at the end of the week.

Before I went on holiday, I set up a couple of payments to go over to my old HSBC OD. These went. I am hoping to be able to keep sending bits and pieces over until it has gone - then this time I will be putting the OD limit down to £100. Job done.

Must chase OH and get him to tell me what account he wants me to start sending my repayments to.

Oh, and I got my road fund licence form through the other day, and my car tax amount has changed! It is now only £30 instead of £35 each year! :T

Right, I had better do some work - apparently thats why I am here! :rotfl:

Hope you are all well - I will be doing the diary rounds shortly (hint hint to those of you who need a reminder to write on theirs!!!)

  • HAPPY DAYS!

Just every now and then, little things cheer me up............

Like this morning I have discovered I can pay money into my A&L account at the post office in the village where I work, rather than having to find an A&L branch open at the weekends!

I will be taking the cheque from Halifax off the fridge tonight and paying it in tomorrow!

    "Happy days!"

happy days indeed Nat, sounds like everything is going well. It's good that you're getting credits back so easily.
  • Hi Lemon Tree,

Getting the overpayments back has been much easier than I anticipated, although I do find it odd that some can send it back to the account that the DD went from and some have to send a cheque. Only Halifax have put up some form of resistance to me closing my account. Nice to know that I was sooo valued! lol
