Oh have a fantastic (and safe) trip to New York! I bet you're glad it wasn't a fortnight ago that you were going.
I keep meaning to update but oldest DS hogs the computer and I am waiting for a new power cable to come for the new mini laptop. I'm utterly amazed I am on the computer now. His girlfriend must have other things to do than talk to him on a Friday!Start Date: 27/11/2010
Padding: Day 42
Target £8000
Amount: £562.230 -
Hi IF! (nice to hear from you lol!)
I am sooo glad I wasn't due to be travelling a couple of weeks ago - and I am now praying to the shoe god (he who puts sparkly, shiny high heels on this world for me to buy) that the sky stays clear!
Welll done for getting on the computer!!start = Wed 19th Nov 2008 £21,225

I do like it when things kinda go right (for a change!)
This morning I got a 0% BT offer from Barclaycard! YAY!! It runs til August 2011 as well - what a bonus!
So, I have written out the BT cheques to send to....
£1850.00 - Tesco CC
£4318.07 - MBNA (Abbey)
Unfortunately, I destroyed my Barclaycard a while ago and I need to put the expiry date on the back of the cheque, so have ordered a new card - this will probably turn up whilst I am away - but hey-ho!
Laters, am off to get my hair cut (first cut since July last year!)
Hope you are all having a good Saturday - despite the rain!start = Wed 19th Nov 2008 £21,225

come on how was NYC? NYC was amazing!! We had a hotel in Queens for 3 nights. They ran free shuttles to and from the nearest subway station (about 10-15mins walk) until 10pm. Subway took us right in to Manhatten, through Grand Central and Time Square. I have never walked soooo far in my life! Would happily go back for another 3 or 5 nights. New Hampshire was so leafy and lush - with houses the size of office blocks! Took in a baseball game in Boston too. Big game - Boston Red Sox v's New York Yankees!! I still do not have a clue what that game is about!!! Great atmosphere though!!
Did you see Lady Liberty? YEP! Did a speed boat ride on "THE BEAST", took in Ellis Island and SofL from the boat - got rather wet due to the water-fight on board!
Did you have a carridge ride in Central Park?No - walked round plenty of CP though. It is V A S T
Did you eat chinese out of funny cardboard boxes? On the 2nd night we had a quiet night in at the hotel (in preparation for a hectic sight-seeing day the next) and had 'Chinese take-out' It was gross. Even the cute cardboard boxes couldn't make it more appealling!
Did you pig out on cheesecake? Nope - pigged out on Vodka and Sprite!
Did you love Times square? OMG - how mad is that place??? Bright lights attract people like moths!! The policemen were very polite and accomodating in answering my stupid (slightly tipsy) touristy questions "so! How often do you get a power cut here and all the lights go out?" "What is the least crime I can get arrested for?" "If I drop my cigarette on the floor (not that I do that!!) will you bust my !!!?" (yep, I really did ask that and the answer was "no - not unless you go on to do something really dumb and then we will hit you with everything!!")
Reach the top of the Empire State Building? No, did the Top of The Rock instead, so we could get pics of the ESB!! Got there at dusk, so that was good - really busy though. Thanks to the New Yorker Passes we had, we skipped most of the queue (I reckon about 45min wait) - or we would have got up there in the dark!
Cry at Ground Zero? Gave it a miss - went to the Museum of Sex instead!! Also did the Madison Square Garden tour, The New York Hall of Science, Grand Central, and Battery Park (where the Staten Island Ferry goes from!)
Take in a broadway show? No, took in the inside of an Irish Bar instead!
Great time had - came back over-night, felt ok on the first day back (landed at 07:30) and then back to work on the next, feeling like a zombie. It was only 6:20hrs flight time home, but thanks to the Icelandic volcano, it was a 9:15hrs flight out there - but the upside was that I did get to see Iceland and Greenland out the plane window! lolstart = Wed 19th Nov 2008 £21,225

Ah lucky you it sounds great :-)
I went in January and loved it- but felt I'd missed out by not having a takeaway in the cute boxes, now I feel better about that!.
I loved it I did ice skating at the Rockafella centre, saw a fantastic show, tried Manhattens in manhatten(grim) worked my way down the cocktail menu until I found cosmopolitans (Much better) Irsh bar- Rosie O'Gradys? Central Park was great and Grand Central Station WOW so pretty. I went inside lady Liberty and mooched around Ellis island. Funny but I too found the Museum of Sex- no sure if you needed to go in as much was on show through the windows ;-)LBM- finally kicked in 16/12/08 @ [strike]£41,862 [/strike] £0.00/ DFD- 24/12/13

lol - no the Irish bar was 'The Pig & Whistle' just off TS!!! Mad, mad place! We were bought drinks for no apparent reason, some of the blokes didn't even hang around to talk to us!! (which was nice - and made my nights more DFWish!)
The inside of the MofS was..... interesting to say the least! There were a couple of men who (in my opinion) spent to long in the section where it depicted the changing portrayal and role of sex in films.... yes, they were showing films of ALLSORTS!!(we didn't stumble upon it though - we decided to go there!!! lol)
I decided I quite liked the pomegranate margerhitas !!!!
Angie - in all honesty..... where are you? Would love to know how you are getting on? Do you have a new diary that I've missed or you now in the realms of the lurkers? x
Will be back with a money update at some point I promise.... had a run in with useless B/card last night - but all sorted now!

Hi All! Well its Friday and in a semi-tradition, here is my update.....
- Tomorrow my car goes in for its service and I have money in my accout to pay for it (now that is a first! - ok, its because I took a break from paying my Loan, but hey...)
- Had a run in with B/card.... last month I used 2 of their BT cheques to try and move some money from higher rate cards to them. This week I received notification that the money was being returned as I had incorrectly written my card number and exp date on the back of both cheques. I can understand one cheque, but 2? Anyway its happened - in the mean time my latest statement had come out from B/card showing a new higher figure including the 2 BT values and a new monthly min repayment of £190! But that was based on approx £6500 that wasn't there. So after explaining this to the man on the phone several times (and him asking me what I would like him to do about it!) I have managed to lower the min repayment back to almost its usual amount this month!! Hassle though!
Oh, but not quite.....
On Tuesday, my OH received a large portion of his inheritance. He is now on a mission to clear his debts (YAY) and not get into debt again! By clearing his debts he is going to be approx £650 a month better off (not that far short of half his wage!)
As mentioned before I was hoping to get him to clear his half of our joint c/card debt (approx £4000 each) - thankfully he brought the topic up last night and I explained that with his money I would like to clear my Egg Loan and then that releases approx £250/month that I can then use to overpay the cards (both of ours and mine!) My (darling) OH hs suggested that he clears our joint c/cards and my Egg Loan and then I can repay him!! Now this sounds like a lovely idea - but I am not sure I want to owe him (some how I can rationalise owing the banks). It does make THE most sense though!! :j I will need to look at the amount I am paying in total and what amount OH would like back per month - this would have to be an amount that benefits both of us..... with his newly available portion of his wage to spend (although he is investigating pensions and savings accounts!) I need to make sure I have a little more money available to spend than I do now, or I am going to feel like I am 'keeping up with the OH' and that could possibly be a catalyst for further debt!
So, I am away to play around with my pesky spreadsheet and see what I think the best course of action is!
Have a great day everyone, will pop into your diaries later!
