I've just put a huge chicken in the slow cooker ready for tonights tea. I've got to wait in all day today for a parcel to be delivered. Last week I won a Nintndo DS in a comp and I'm waiting for it to be delivered. If it's not delivered today I'll have to wait in tomorrow and so on and so on. At least I wont be spending any money this way.

  • i've just had breakfast, (just wheetabix) and been playing with the kittens for a bit this morning - i've just sent them off to explore outside so i can get the kitchen organised.

Meats out defrosting for tonight. DH cooked and washed up last night, which i am not complaining about one bit.

I need to go to the post office today - some e.bay parcels and a voucher to post. The voucher was my christmas present last year - a spa hamper. Can't wait.

other than that - my head of department wants some paper work that i have at home, so will be calling around for it. I think i need a bit of a tidy round, and actually sit and make sure its all done.

    have a good day everyone,

    Michelle
  • Hello everyone, remember me? Hehe! Hi to anyone who does and hello to all those who dont too!

Quick refresher - I am Kirsty, now 27, living in Taunton, Somerset. Some of you may remember that OH and I were hoping to start trying for a baby, well I can confirm that we are now very happily almost 10 weeks pregnant and also ENGAGED! Hehe! Safe to say I have had a very good few months since I was last here! Got my first midwife's appt tonight and am very excited indeed!

Priorities now are saving, saving and saving some more. We need to get a car sorted, try and reduce debts as much as possible and try to get on the property ladder as well - nothing like having lots to work towards eh!

So am really happy to be back and picking up lots more money saving tips, freebies and entering comps - every little helps at the moment. Although we are no longer in the financially dire position we were in some months ago (got into payment plans and sorted ourselves out), we still have quite a lot of debt in credit cards and loans to pay off, which we are truiong to do one day at a time.

Anyway I am rambling now, really happy to be back and looking forward to getting to know you all again!

    Lots of love

Don't think there's much danger of that. As the air outside is full of drizzle it's taken the edge off the glam straightened hairdo. Also I'm "lucky" enough to have a GENUINE croaky voice/nasty cough/headache so my boss keeps asking how I'm feeling :o

since 6mo mindie's mum last week told me baby wouldn't be coming anymore as she doesn't think my dog is hygienic and she doesn't want her baby exposed to it!

My Dog doesn't like 6mo. Smelly things. Dirty nappies, food everywhere.

Don't worry about it. If thats all that she can come up with for a lame excuse, then your childminding must be AOK!

    Hiya all :hello:

Boys deposited at appropriate schools. Got a tug at DS2's pre-school to say "isn't he brilliant with numbers". A lot of kids his age can't recognise 1 - 10 routinely, but he can count to 30 and easily recognise up to 100, as well as recognise/read the days of week, month, 'weather today' charts etc. Given I do practically NO reading with him (he refuses), that's obviously his thing :D

Anyway, today I've decided to have some "me" time and not spend it all in the house, which is fairly clean and tidy at the moment. Am going ice-skating in a while (great for the legs) and then I have a mystery shopping job to do so will pay for petrol and parking to a town I don't go to much. I'll be taking lots of fruit and water with me so don't have to buy lunch.

Tea will probably be chicken in a sauce with rice and veg (for them) Although I went to Tesco last night, still need some chicken pieces so will get them today (still refuse to buy my meat there, apart from my free range bronze turkey bargain on Xmas eve)

Last night, they had shepherds pie and plum crumble and did a batch cook when oven on, so have another shep. pie in freezer and 2 more crumbles. Not bad as I got 4 punnets of plums (nearly 50 fruits) for £1 I may have a look on the market today for more bargains :)

OK, off to get suitably attired for ice skating. It will cost a bit more as I can't find my skates so will have to hire them, but if I put it off, I'll never go.

BTW - what are "till spits" ?

Hope your gerbils are ok PP. I love gerbils - I'm sure having 3,they will be happier than just having the one.

Good luck with your interview B.R.

Glad your dad seems to be on the mend, Squeaky. I did think of you this weekend :)

Kiwi - I like the idea of porridge with coconut. Must try that one day.

OK, have a good day one and all and TTFN

Now going to put WM on and then embark on my quarter hour per room clean and tidy session. It's sort of adapted from Flylady where she says anything can be done in 15 minutes. Also need to fill in application form for a job I've seen and get that in today - minding not busy enough (only earning £40 per week  ) for me at the moment and had my confidence knocked since 6mo mindie's mum last week told me baby wouldn't be coming anymore as she doesn't think my dog is hygienic and she doesn't want her baby exposed to it!

In a complete quandry now whether to aggressively market my childminding or go and get a term time job which would mean putting DS2 into a day nursery. In some ways it would be good for him as he is due to start nursery school this coming September and it would get him used to not being with me all the time, plus I would have a steady income but I can't help feeling as though I'm abandoning him. Need to seriously think about this.

Sorry not preaching here and I assume you are registered........Are you part of your local network?? I get between 4-6 calls a month for new children through my network co-ordinator. Also make sure your details are up to date on the C.I.S web site listing what places you've got available. Is there a local scheme for Childcare in your area? We have a "before 8's" centre which will hold my information and pass out to new parents. I've also got friendly with my local pre-school group too, they pass on people who need younger children looking after and in turn I recommend them where I can (does help that I think it's a great pre-school group).

Stick with it if you can, your son will gain from having the other kids in the house and if you do decided to place him in a day nursery then he'll benefit there too.

Also take a look from prospective parents point of view.....I personally don't like dogs and wouldn't choose a child minder for my daughters that had a dog...personal preference but one I know a lot of people would feel the same way about. Might be worth asking the babies parents if there's anything you can do to make them feel more comfortable about the dog being in the house, maybe limiting the dogs access to certain rooms during work hours?

Feel free to pm me if you want a chat. :D

Edited to say.........Welcome back Squeaks :j
